Captain Colonial Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Just a quick note - I would suggest altering the final bit of the journey to avoid the A45/A4600 junction by Coventry Airport, where there's horrific roadworks taking place that's lasted literally years now. I'd suggest coming off the M69 on to M6 North for one junction to J3, then south on the A444 past the Ricoh Arean aand through Coventry mostly on a dual carriageway, which takes you to the top of the A46 for Stoneleigh. If you insist on taking the A4600 to the A45 junction where all the fun is, note there are speed cameras and add 15-20 minutes for possible congestion. Quote
Kingster Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 I think it's about time we sorted out a plan. So can I have a head count of who is setting off from Newcastle ish area? We can then decide on a route or maybe two, so one for good weather with a bit of A and B roads mixed in plus one direct route for rain to get us there quicker. Then we can arrange to meet anyone who wants to join us on the way down. 1 Quote
Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I can join you somewhere in the Leeds area, depending on which way you decide on. Quote
Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I can join you somewhere in the Leeds area, depending on which way you decide on. +1 Quote
chriss1455 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I will be making the trip down Chris so count me in Quote
Kingster Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 Here's a couple of routes to throw open for discussion, both take the Chair's advice about using the A444 on the last leg. Avoid motorways as much as can reasonably be achieved (229 miles - 5h 30m) Robin & Marcus - you might want to meet up around Selby? Bad weather get there faster (217 miles - 3h 43m) We can do a mix up if that works - again depends on weather and people's resistance to posterior discomfort and bladder weakness! Happy to go with the flow and change en-route if anyone gets tired or bored etc Quote
chriss1455 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Happy with either. As you say weather depending on route but both look OK to me Quote
Stu Faulkner Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Nice route Chris, It goes right past where I live. What time do you expect to go past Newhall? On your map there is a man at work sign. Quote
Kingster Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 Not sure Stu as a lot will depend on the weather and convoy members on the day. I think I have your mobile so will let you know when we get close on the day as no doubt we'll be stopping for fuel and bum breaks a couple of times Quote
chriss1455 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 If we are leaving at 8am taking the 'nice weather' route I would guess about 12.30? (Taking into account a couple of stops possibly) Someone please correct me if I'm miles off there Quote
Stu Faulkner Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Thanks Chris, I'll PM you my number just in case. Quote

But these things always take longer when there's a group and meeting points involved. Quote
