Andy Banks
'bout time Happy to help out, I think we need: Menu as is Content as is, updated of course Area info and map as is but it needs to link to WSCC branded area pages not FB etc Area pages - CMS here please so AO's can update, add links to FB or area sites, etc. needs a calendar too Must be Mobile (bootstrap, etc.) www.wineandthevine.co.uk as an example - something like this should flow for car club site too Link to cars for sale should probably hit Westfields for sale rather than cars for sale Other than that which is basically a refresh for the modern day and mobile it's pretty much already got what it needs bar the branded Area stuff. tisme
I know a lot of people view website via mobile devices these days, but sometimes redesigning an informative website to suit can be at the expense of ordinary PC based browsers. I used to use a site called NetDoctor to look up conditions and medicines (one of the problems of getting old ) but they redesigned it recently and the very informative simple to read and navigate text (especially the A-Z's of conditions and medicines they had on the home page) have just vanished and you're left with large fonts, lots of spacing, huge pictures (most totally irrelevant) and a terrible navigation system (though you can see the skeleton of it every time you visit a different page) - a very poor example (in my opinion) of a website "refresh" http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO
I think the main WSCC web site should contain the local area sites so that these have the same touch and feel, the local site contents should then be manageable by the AOs. At the moment there seems to be a wide variety of individual local sites each with it's own look and not necessarily kept up-to-date. Bringing the local sites under the control of the WSCC as a whole means that there would not be issues when AOs change.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Not only that, but some of those local sites were set up so long ago, by members that no one can now recall the names of, that there are no known access details for them anymore! Always embarrassing when a new AO gets in touch to ask for the user name and password to alter their web page, and I can't even tell them who might know! Rory's Dad
Facebook is the answer for local pages. The others look old fashioned IMO.
djm
Facebook is the answer for local pages. Which is OK if you are on Facebook! I don't think I'm the only member not on Facebook.
