WSCC.co.uk - Club Website (NOT THE FORUMS!) Update - 2016

Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of feedback on the WSCC website going forward ........ this is not a "Have a go at the old site" but some constructive ideas please.

With it being 30th anniversary of the WSCC, it's about time the WSCC.co.uk had a bit of a revamp, it's way overdue as you can imagine.

As you may all realise, the website is more of an introduction to what the WSCC is all about with some important information for new and long term owner alike.

So rather then just copy everything over from the old site to a new design, I would like some ideas of what you as members would like to see on the website.

The core Basics will obviously be:

HomePage - introduction on what the WSCC is about

Contacts - Name & Email link to members of the Committee

Local Events - map with contact details of local meetings

Speed Series - info & Results etc

Other than that, I'm happy for you to discuss and banter around some ideas and I will see if they are viable / good and once agreed with the Committee, implimented.

So lets have your ideas.

Hey DJM,
I think you are referring to the Member map on this Forum which is managed by the Forum Admin.
I'm referring to the Website located at http://wscc.co.uk which does actually have a different members map with location and information on meeting, times, emails and Contact numbers.
Does this version of the members map on the Website cover everything you are asking for?

Having recently moved I needed to look for the local meets. I found the way they were listed a bit clunky on the map and not so obvious. Also a quick update of the details might be worth it.

I think some kind of reference section with photos and some details about each particular (main) Westfield model (chronological order of course) would be useful for members and visitors alike.

Something that shows the particular model, then some supplementary pictures of engine other main component options etc.

I realise that this section would require a bit of work to put together and strict guidelines would be needed to stop every small variant from claiming space but it could develop into a "living model museum" sort of section.

There are a multitude of futher options that could be considered over time for links to relevant build threads, technical sections etc etc etc.

Might sound obvious but there should be something that explains the club history and also the cars .. current and past  models.

Oh, forgot to add.  I'd like to see a more detailed or extensive search facility.

Not really sure what the answer to this would be, but one of my major challenges (and interests) with various forums like ours is to look and see if the problem / situation has occurred and been solved before.  I guess in IT terms this is down to being able to search the forum data is clever ways.

Just a thought...

A Quick update of the details is a good idea - I can impliment that no probs.

As for the funtionality, that may take looking into but it works for now so may have to be put further down the line for modding.

Yes a lot of work but maybe somebody can take it on as a project and supply the information at a later date for inclusion, after vetting of course :)

Excellent idea and a worthwhile addition - thanks David.

Again, this is a forum function, nothing to do with the website per say!

Website can be found at http://www.wscc.co.uk

Happy to submit material for the XTR2  I also have a few magazine reviews when it was launched (kit car magazines, EVO etc) and the original marketing material and launch photos from Stoneleigh  that we may be able to reproduce with suitable credits.  There is also the top gear video on youtube.

Thanks David, I will bear that in mind.
