Beez Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Yes I agree, think I'm going to go with R888R in SG compound and avoid the potential issues of a Scrutineer not knowing the intricacies of the ZZR legality in class 1b!!!! Quote
pete g Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 im just thinking you will need another set when they are banned next year. but I guess it will be the same with most the 1b tyres . Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Just buy some Avon ZZS tyres as 1B 1 Quote
Paul Aspden Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Just buy some Avon ZZS tyres as 1B What when the correct ZZR is a softer compound? Be lucky to get a year out of them anyway Alternatively we could just get WSCC Motorsport Ltd to talk to Javelin about setting up a club series with them..............I'll get my coat 2 Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 ZZR will not be allowed in classes A1,A2,B1 or B2 but toyo 888 and avon ZZS will be Quote
Meteor Motorsport Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Is this something WSCC is restricting Terry? We restrict ACB10's. Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Yep! WSCC speed series Most clubs also only allow radial tyres on road going cars so ACB10's are out as they are cross ply Quote
Meteor Motorsport Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 So you are going to restrict ZZR also? Quote
FILFAN Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 lets have a control tyre. then we can put all this silly mess to bed 1 Quote
spm Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 im just thinking you will need another set when they are banned next year. but I guess it will be the same with most the 1b tyres . So what will you be able to use in 2017 in Road Going Specialist ? are the 888's going to be banned as well. Also any idea why 888's are in 1b and 048R's are not, is it just down to the manufacturers as to what list they put them in. ? Quote
Meteor Motorsport Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 In 2017 well from the end of this year it's going to be illegal for a manufacturer to sell a new car with a F rated tyre. However I am told that the aftermarket will be able to continue to sell the F rated tyres for a further 2 - 3 years. It was not clear from the info when the 3 year period started. Last or this year. Now you can look at that information 2 ways but who knows which way the MSA will look at it as the G rating can still be sold after market. Quote
Beez Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 im just thinking you will need another set when they are banned next year. but I guess it will be the same with most the 1b tyres . True guess I'll have to drive extra hard to wear them out before they are banned from 1b! Quote
pete g Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 don't drive to hard and break that chassis again Quote
windy Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 So what will you be able to use in 2017 in Road Going Specialist ? are the 888's going to be banned as well. Depends on the result of the referendum vote I guess. If we have nothing to do with Europe from 2017 we could be back to simple black and round with tread. Take your pick from our world's tyre suppliers once the free trade agreements allow purchase of tyres from anywhere not just Europe. Quote
