Yes I was on slicks , but I dont think it mattered, told that cars in this class need log book.

only time i was asked for it tho

Nick should have some more info tomorrow but my bet is that road going classes will be on 1A or 1B.

Sigh.

Will obviously wait for the official news tomorrow, but so far this is turning into a farce.

£1000 for a "compliant" cage (I know the MSA spec hoop is £260 but I've got a full cage and want to keep a full cage)

£4-500 for a new set of tyres - mine are 10 events old!!!!!

All this just to have a go? No thanks. That money was supposed to go on developing the car to handle better, be more reliable and buy me more seat time, not to meet a set of rules that are completely nonsensical.

I wanted to have a proper crack at the novice title next year, but that looks highly unlikely now :( Javelin here we come.

A bit of a muddle at the moment but lets hope we can come up with a reasonable plan particularly for newcomers

I'd been pondering about the best way to go with these regulations. I've not competed in the WSCC speed championship before, however we have purchased a Westfield to do just that next season because it looks like one of the best run championships. I have however been hillclimbing a seven for a while!

 

My proposition is that this could be the perfect time to put more of a gap between classes A-D and E-F.

 

As far as I can see, the cars that compete in classes E&F are those that are essentially mod-prod cars on road legal tyres. A lot already run a full cage, a lot have already invested in an FHR or plan to in the near future. So why not run these classes under the Modified Specialist Production category? Create a sub-category called 'Road-legal Modified Specialist Production' that runs under the Mod Spec Prod technical regs, with additional championship regulations stipulating that the car must run in a 'road legal condition'. You can run any road legal tyre you fancy, as long as you run the additional safety devices required. This gives those people who wish to continue using the A24 ZZRs somewhere to play, and allows people who's cars aren't actually used on the road (and therefore aren't necessarily taxed / insured / MOTed) yet wish to use road tyres (slicks and wets are a lot of hassle) to use their car competitively. It would also give those roadgoing bike engined cars that don't have reverse a home. It might take a little while to catch on, obviously it isn't compatible with the 'standard' class structure used at a lot of events, but at least those with a nearly new set of ZZRs could be competitive at a championship level.

Hi Adam hope your well - good points well made and IMHO a likely outcome. As you say to an E/F competitor a HANS device, cage and log book are hardly a big bar to competing.

I might be missing something here, but are ZZR's availability not the main issue here.

Records/Target times are pretty much null and void if they're not available?

If this is the case, desperately bad news for our Championship, and a real tough one for competitors and organisers alike.

Target times have taken a while to settle down, and for a few tweeks to improve they are going the right way. Being unable to use a competitive tyre makes a bit of a hash of things?

I think that ZZR in A24 as a 1C tyre may be available but cars would need to run in mod prods

This tyre mess could all be sorted with a handicap system for 2016. :t-up:

OH goooody!

As my Westie is well known for it's 'Lardiness' already that could result in others having up to 300kg+ of lead to carry :p:d
