I suggested a quick rub with the sandpaper as that will assist in bedding in. Is the handbrake slack or hitting the chassis. If slack it may just be initial "stretching" of the cable. Get it as tight as you can then let the tester yank it up and it should be OK. If you keep pulling it on hard it may stretch a bit more. See what readings the rollers give in the morning. Not too much as you don't want to overheat them but enough to get them bedded in. Ed to add. Why not put the EBC pads on Ebay and describe them as the worst brake pads you ever had, how they failed the IVA and you now want to sell them on. Probably get a good bid!
