SootySport
Hope you bought some decent front pads Dave, those standard EBC pads just don't work.
Norman Verona
Bernie, others have used them and passed the iva so, whilst they may not be "good", they should work well enough to pass. It looks to me like they have "glazed", probably due to not being bedded in fully. I have no idea how you're supposed to bed them in if you can't drive the car on the road. darve
only had time to replace the clutch slave cylinder tonight and rebleed. is it just me or does brake fluid like to go everywhere in other news my fuel gauge has decided it wants to sit at the half full mark with the ignition off bl**** thing
Norman Verona
You can get the pads deglazed tomorrow and on the rollers on Saturday. No idea about the fuel gauge, does it help stop the car?
darve
ive managed to get hold of some oem pads so im sorely tempted to put them on. then do some reslly hard braking on a er queit road on the way to the mot cente on Saturday. even bed them in a bid on the mot rollers. thougts norm? my thinking is it will eliminate the pads as suspect. I have no idea about the fuek gauge either. ive checked the wiring behind the dash. will have another look tomorrow. no doesn't help the car stop surely I'll keep going as I'll never be out of fuel

Norman Verona
Dave, If you can bed the new pads in as specified then change them, if not rub the glaze off the ones you've got and stay with those. The Mintex 1144's took a few miles of continual hard breaking from high speeds to bed in. The leaflet said if it wasn't done as described the pads wouldn't be as efficient as possible. I did a few hours of driving along a straight part of the Snake up to 70 mph then braking hard, turning round and doing it again.
XTR2Turbo
Calls for some left foot braking .... Also be careful to clean brake fluid off the chassis or your powder coat will start to blister
SootySport
Bernie, others have used them and passed the iva so, whilst they may not be "good", they should work well enough to pass. It looks to me like they have "glazed", probably due to not being bedded in fully. I have no idea how you're supposed to bed them in if you can't drive the car on the road. Trust me on this, the EBC basic road pads are useless. I could even get them to lock the brakes on my car when I bought new calipers, the EBC pads came with the calipers. Put a set of Mintex 1144's in and instant hard braking with virtually no bedding in and they locked up with a bit of extra pedal pressure. Others may have passed the IVA ok on them but all cars are different in small ways. The reason why I want Dave to use the Mazda oe pads is ease of bedding in compared to other fancy pads which need a bit of a bedding in process. If he don't change them, I'll be breaking into his garage at night and change them myself.
Norman Verona
Dave, Bernie says change them for the Mazda pads and as they don't need a complicated bedding I agree. So, change the pads, but give them a light rub on your sandpaper.
