Hello all, after much debate and almost purchasing a built car this week, through fate and slight impulse whist sat in the North Sea (Working) I thought sod it, Iam 40 next year. Let’s bite the bullet and build a Westfield, so I dropped Simon an email and sent over my deposit!... A mixture of very excited, and what have I done feelings are flying around my head this morning. I work week on week off, so have the time to commit to it. My dad has one too which I love working on and my lad is an apprentice mechanic, I love all things petrol so we should hopefully be ok!! 🤞🏼 Anyway, 12 weeks to prepare before collection and a tour of the factory. I will be sorting the garage and reading lots of your build diaries, also I thought I’d start my own. I have Module 1 and 2 on order. Then later on will get the last module to complete. I will share my progress along the way

How to tell the difference between a Narrow Body and a Wide Body If you don’t have a tape measure to hand then the two most visual differences between a narrow and wide body car are around the rear lights and also the shoulder panel next to the seat. Starting with the shoulder panel, a narrow car will have a flat, vertical internal panel next to your shoulder. On a wide body car the GRP tub is extended into the cockpit to create a scalloped or chamfered panel to give more shoulder room. These first two pictures show an example of the shoulder panel on a narrow bodied car. Whilst on a Wide body car, the first of these pictures shows the chamfered tub used with ZK bodywork, whist the second shows the scallop of the earlier “kit” wide bodywork. The second method of telling the difference between a wide an narrow is the shape of the bdy tub around the rear lights. The wide body chassis was available with either fixed or detachable rear arches; whist the narrow was only available with fixed rear aches. Therefore if the car has detachable arches, which can be seen with a join line between the tub and arch as in the picture below then it will be a wide body car. If the car has fixed arches then it could be either a wide or a narrow. These first two pictures show examples of wide body Westfield’s. Note how the rear lights are partially recessed into the tub on their inside edge in a square recess. On a narrow however the arches are slightly wider and the arch has a smooth contour into the main body with no recess for the lamp. Note: I am aware that there is also some wide body tubs they may have rear arches similar to the narrow and therefore it is wise to also check the shape of the shoulder panel also to help with identification.

I am hoping someone has a ZK Locking Boot Lid kit hanging about that they have decided not to install, or have removed to save weight. I will happily pay the usurious shipping cost to Canada. I just can't afford the price at the parts shop! I am working on fabricating the components out of wood in order to make a GRP mold, but a Westfield one, at a reasonable price, would be a huge time saver!

This was my spare bonnet and bought brand new from westfield in 2010. I used it for sprinting so i could have one bonnet for the road and car shows and another for the track which would carry the stickers and race numbers. This has been used for 10 events between 2010 and 2014 and other than being drilled for the locating pins and locks this has not been cut or modified in any way. The bonnet locks and pins are not included in this sale. The bonnet is in good condition and has always stored on the wall when not being used. All the stickers can easily be removed. £200 (no offers) Collection only from Colchester CO6 NOW SOLD Pictures to follow
