So, I tried rubbing the disks down myself to try and get rid of any pad deposts which seemed to ease the pulsing on the pedal but it still got on my nerves. On closer inspection last week, I removed the wheels and spun the disk slowly and could hear the pads make a clicking sound as they were moving in the caliper as the section of disc that was running out went past. Also looking at the pads, I could visibly see them moving back and forth with each rotation. Booked the car into a local garage which has a pro-cut on car brake lathe and it's all sorted. I was amazed at how uneven the discs were! All in all it took around an hour an half to perform the skimming and as it's done on the car it also eliminates any run out in the hub. Took a video which clearly shows where the run out was.

The body isn't the issue. Its the aerorace chassis which was designed to carry either a K series or early Zetec. The extra bracing gets in the way of dropping the gearbox down. I literally only need another 5mm clearance for it to fit. I decided getting a new body with a V8 bonnet (current body shows its 10 years of competition use) was a better idea than chopping the chassis up. In the mean time I have a few track days book and taking an angle grinder to the bonnet was the simplest option.

Annoyingly I've also ordered a bigger rad. I clearly won't need it with all my speed holes!

Worth checking who owns and is therefore responsible for upkeep; It should be marked on your deeds. The normal convention is for the ‘good’ side of the panels to be facing out, if this is the case, your neighbours potentially own the boundary fence and should be maintaining it, but this is not always the case.

Ok so you were warned..... as we’re enjoying some warmer than average weather, took the westy to work today, and after a hot sticky ruff day gave Trina a quick call and cancelled tea, Home showered and we were off in gloriously hot sunshine had a run up to aviemore for a chippie and 99 , then had been tipped off about a lovely little spot down some wee roads so off we went exploring and discovered a truly hidden gem in Loch eilaan from here we took all the back roads home and only saw three cars and a bus.... for a spur of the moment thing we had a great 3 1/2 hours tootling and exploring...... happy days

220 mile blat today. Did buttertubs pass and plenty of other good roads, a shandy in the Tan Hill Inn and then watch for choo choose on the Ribble head viaduct. An aching backside and forgot to apply sun cream so look like lobster boy but a brilliant day.

Return home from Blink motorsport

Out yesterday in town when I saw an elderly lady with a hearing assist dog being very closely followed by a gypsy (a term I don’t use loosely) woman. I didn’t like the look of the gypsy’s attention so I turned and got in behind them. The gypsy woman threw some dust over the top of the elderly woman, making her stop. At that point, the gypsy pulled a device out of her bag and held it against the elderly woman’s handbag - obviously a crude RFID reader trying to steal her card info. In what was probably with hindsight the wrong thing to do, I jumped forward and grabbed the RFID reader out of her hand. Both women understandably cried out, for different reasons. The gypsy then tried to assault me to get it back, but even at my advanced age, I fended her off and started shouting for the police, which made her scurry off like a rat. After I explained what had happened to the elderly woman and encouraged her to buy a RFID blocking purse, I went to the police station, made a statement and gave them the device. No idea how much info the thieving c*** had in it. Last night I ordered a new RFID blocking wallet. I suggest you do the same if you already haven’t done so. You can’t trust banks to refund your money these days.

Little and large

Day 7 - Sat 9th June Up with the lark, on our way west by 7.30. Dry, but cloudy, bit chilly, glad of the heater. Nice roads through Tenterden, Haywards Heath, and on to Petworth where we stopped for Breakfast in Tiffins Tea Room. Nice welcoming place, friendly service, good food and coffee. Highly recommend it if your thirsty or hungry in Petworth. Refreshed, we carried on west through Petersfield, Winchester and Salisbury, then headed towards the A303. Stopped for a quick snack lunch at the Black Dog Inn at Chilmark. From here we picked up the A303 just east of Mere (deliberately avoided it around Stonehenge!), not long after we were home, having covered a total of 1020 miles. Tucked Westie in the garage, staright to kennels and collected our dogs, both of whom seemed really glad to see us. Verdict A great trip, we both enjoyed immensely, weather could have been better, but we laughed it off. Car went like a dream after initial hiccup. Have checked it over and found nothing of concern. Checked and tightened all air hoses, been following up on water hoses as a matter of course! Did find that of the 4 nuts holding the fan onto the rad, 1 was missing, the others were still in place but finger tight. Have now fitted secondary locknuts. I didn't fit nylocs deliberately, as I was worried about shearing the M6 stud off where it's welded to an Ali bracket. The various grounding I've done has all been on the chassis hoop as far as I can see, so really pleased, Dread to think what it would have been like had I norpt changed the sump and done the cooling system mods. Half hood has been baptised, and worked a treat. Found the heater was really useful for de misting, and taking the chill off on fresh days. Up on stands for check over after washing Nose off to check and tighten air hoses! Chassis hoop been doing its job! Thank you for reading, hope it's not been too boring. Adge
