  2. Ahead of the final results being published I think we know who has won the WSCC Championship and Novice Championship..........so a big well driven to John Loudon and Barny Francis respectively and to all the class winners too. PS I hope the final results don't come up with something different!

  4. We drove through the beautiful grounds of Chatsworth, parked up and excitedly headed for the TVR's. We had passed a few on the way in and a few were travelling around, burbling away as they do. There were many TVR's, probably the most I have ever seen in one place, so they did not disappoint . Interiors are nice Engines are nice Paintwork is nice Bum's are nice So you like TVR's then Julie? yes, but this 1979 one stood out as a mighty fine classic, complete with a 1970's brown interior. Look at the curvature on that rear screen. Only 4 of these made in this colour for a racing team. The grounds of Chatsworth provided some lovely backdrops Speaking to the TVR club Leeds Area Organiser, he said we could have displayed with them if they had known, so I gave him my card and hopefully they will remember us next year. Don't forget save some photo's from today, especially the dynamic one's Debbie, and send them to editor@wscc.co.uk for next year's calendar. Lastly, remember to chuck a sickie tomorrow and meet us at Darley Moor Airfield 10 am for a Tiger Moth moment and a little run out.

  5. Had a great day at Anglesey on Sunday watching the final round and some terrific driving as well as the usual paddock banter. Of particular note was the final run from Del, and the speech from Mr London. The speech was a reminder of what it takes to win a championship. and Del's run was storming, so good in fact that Jill needed an explanation as to why he was shaking so much! So, congratulations to our champion, it takes time and dedication, not to mention skill and talent to win, the cream is at the top again! As for the novices, there has been a year long battle and despite the oddities of Saturday, a worthy novice champion has emerged, well done Barney, we look froward to seeing you in experts for a few seasons to come. All the class champions in whatever car they run have had a challenge this year. Numbers may be down, but not the level of competition. To achieve any level of success in this championship you can be sure you are doing well. The drivers and cars throughout the speed series are some of the best in there classes. Our championship competitors likely hold the majority of class records, all as a result of the WSCC speed series, so congratulations one and all, not to mention the team of people who over the years have contributed there time and efforts to running the championship I've just had a text from last year's champion, he was at Anglesey yesterday, (he even drove the taxi) to ask me to post his congratulations to the new champion, and to Del for the storming T2 run that took the long standing target time/record from Craig Sampson in class H. We are all getting older, but some still get faster#

  6. Martyn, or is it Flight Lieutenant Martyn now, with the colour co-ordinated aircraft, it had to be red to match the Westfield. Now he thinks he is Biggles It was not long before Julie came along with a daft, cheesy smile on her face asking the nice man if we could possibly bring the cars round for a photograph. Back to the car park The Tiger Moth that Martyn flew was made in 1941, so I guess it might be made by women? if all the men were at war and the women were in the factories? Watching him getting in was a bit like getting in a Westfield, left foot here and right hand there. The flight went over Alton Towers, the JCB factory, Dove Dale and finally skirted round Ashbourne. It was deemed a good birthday present. This flight was around £100 or you could go for the Dambusters flight up to Ladybower, which takes around 1 hour and costs £450. Just thinking with Christmas coming up soon. Afterwards we all popped into the Peak District and the Swiss style village of Ilam for lunch, where, funnily enough all these bi-planes were flying overhead. Not a bad first day of retirement then Alan?

  7. I already have a baffle welded in. It will be a good chance for an oil change and clean the sump out. Well it has been in two years, it must need a clean by now.

  8. Maurici I have some sympathy with you interns of the constant timing issues we had with several reruns and similar problems due to faster cars catching up others which nested with the times. Both Gary Bunn and Barny Francis were lucky enough to benefit from this but the rest of us did not. The track conditions were changing and in th afternoon it dried so fats that later runs with the road going classes had the best conditions and beat the slick shod cars. I think the best way to deal with this is for John Wiliams to ask LDMC why the timing guys had such a big problem on both Daturday and Sunday. LDMC are a great club and always try to maximise the runs we have so they will be disappointed as well . The delay between the rerun notifications and the 15 or so cars that had a bulk rerun on Sunday was crazy.

  11. We met at The Wheatsheaf, where we met Andy's new car and the other Andy's new car. I have come to terms with Ian losing his pink nose and I now officially like the white one. We soon set off in the sunshine up to Edale, a village at the start of the Pennine Way that sits below Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District. We managed to get prime parking position in front of The Rambler Inn, where we had lunch. The entire staff left the pub and came out to look at our cars, burglars take note! The pub also sits beneath The Mam Tor Ridge, seen in the background here Then we had a steering wheel moment as Ian gave us a tour of his adaptions But nobody can beat Thundernuts for a glamorous interior Do you wonder what else we get up to here in the Peak District? Well Big Andy was looking for Glen's steak sandwich. What was the problem, Glen like's ham. Pigs, cows, it's all meat in my book Then we took a circular route back to Chatsworth.....

  13. Yes, you read that correctly, this is an event on a Monday, so get your sickie voice on and get ringing the boss. Except for our newly retired, proper pensioner Alan that is, congratulations Alan on your retirement. Meet at 10 am Darley Moor Airfield, Ashbourne, DE6 2ET where we will sit out on the viewing platform with Sue and a coffee to watch Martyn take a flight in a Tiger Moth at 10.30 am. This event is totally weather dependent, which is why I am so late posting it, but the current forecast is good, so I am going for it. Afterwards we will have a wiggle round somewhere pretty and go get some lunch, So, who is going to have a mystery, short term illness on Sunday night?

  14. Well after many many years of just dreaming, I'm finally joining the club :-) The deposit has been paid on a white classic special edition zetec. I've gone for the track day shocks, brake upgrade and wide track front suspension. Can't wait until December when hopefully I'll be collecting

I figured that as I went from an MT75 to a type nine that my experience would be useful - then of course the fact that there's a variety of options available for completion of these items (despite them being "the same") just adds to the bafflement!

  19. I can tell you that Longton and the timing guys have already been discussing some of the issues they had to deal with. They are not coming up with excuses but it seems that there was inadequate communication between trackside marshalls etc and the timing controllers. So, when a car was caught or a car needed a rerun the correct info was not being provided to identify which cars were affected. What is important is that LDMC are taking action to improve things and prevent future problems of a similar nature. As Nick says sometimes motorsport can be a lottery and sometimes you win and other times you lose but please remember that the competition is over a full season and not just one weekend. Even Lewis Hamilton has to deal with a bit of bad luck sometimes

  21. Hi Maurici, It was good to see you at the weekend and big thanks to you and the others for letting me share your garage without which my car problems would have been a nightmare. Unfortunately these re-runs (however caused) can be annoying and I feel for you. However let me give you an example that happened to me. to show it can go the other way. At one of the events a few years ago, my direct competitor kept getting re-runs and I too was sat there feeling this was an advantage to him. However he had been pushing a bit to hard and came off the track which damaged his car and meant that he could then not take part in the run-off. Leaving it to me to do a decent time in order to win but with no competition. So on this occasion it went against a competitor, however it felt slightly hollow not to have had a proper competition. Hope that helps you and allows you to forget about it, what has happened didn;t break any rules and it's just the luck of the draw. Sometimes it's to your advantage sometimes not.

I did have a chat informally with the timing people as I was concerned that it might have been something their side (as I've lined them up for Blyton so needed a bit of reassurance) I was happy with their response... There are lots of people involved making sure the line runs smoothly MSA licence, meeting organiser, Clark of the course, timekeeper and course controller. I think rather than hearsay and rumour I'm happy to have a chat with LDMC comp sec

  24. It was the TIG specialist that warned me of the risks, I'm not contradicting him, I have no experience of TIG welding! I know a few have done it, but for road use, I wouldn't have the sender in the sump plug, too low and vulnerable. Andy's already managed to damage his standard sump plug, and that's not made of soft brass. Plus as a regular to shows/events I often find myself having to cross and park in grass field parking areas, it's not always nice and short and I'm not comfortable with the wiring being quite so low as it would be in the sump plug.

  31. Thats just the picture I have been looking for. The pressure relief valve sticks when I start from cold giving me over 6Bar of pressure until it unsticks after about 30 seconds. It lives in the allen head bolt on the side of the pump just after the strainer. I knew it was there its just that I have never seen a picture. A job for winter..
