  1. Well, the Silverstone Classic seems to have been a big hit with everyone who attended, but it couldn't have happened without some wonderful people, so I'd personally like to thank: > Lord Banks for his hard work and efforts in getting things together, from the gazebo and T-shirts to the flags and showing up early to get it installed, plus many admin bits and pieces > "Slasher" for also lending a helping hand - you, sir, are a star, always there to assist at every show and event I can remember, yet fading away when praise is being publicly passed out - we see you and we're very grateful > Clare and her team from A-Plan Insurance for doing all the organising on the parade lap side of things - you took a load off our hands with no reward other than our gratitude and being surrounded by lunatics - thanks for your sacrifice and for all you do for the club and all our members year-round > The Silverstone Classic organisers for putting on a terrific show and for working with us to provide us with such a memorable 30th anniversary weekend > Those of you who came to the event - I saw nothing but smiles and heard nothing but praise, but thanks must go to you for turning out in numbers and filling up our stand > Everyone who went on the parade lap - compared to some of the other clubs who went around politely and sedately, whatever I had to say publicly before the lap, I privately hoped you would behave in an orderly disgraceful manner and you did not disappoint me, with lots of exhaust noise, tyre spinning, horn honking and acting like kids - the highlight of it all for me was seeing you waiting on the grid, your faces looking like Christmas had arrived and Santa had brought what you wanted - just brilliant and probably the highlight of my time as chairman to date > ...and especially Gareth Homfray-Davies (GarethHD), who was kind enough to give me a passenger ride on the parade lap in his brand new car > David Jenkins, the club's longest serving member, who brought his 1986 pre-lit out of retirement and led our parade lap > Peter Osborne, who pointed the Silverstone Classic out to me and suggested attending the event when we met at his house last autumn > ...and of course, anyone old age has made me forget to mention My most sincere thanks to you all If there is enough interest, and even though it would probably be another 5 years before we can waggle another parade lap, we are prepared to consider making the Silverstone Classic a regular event in the club calendar - what do you all think?

  2. I too echo everything said above , have just arrived home , it was an epic 1043 miles round trip I got to meet some club members and to those I didn't there is always next year, very jealous of you all on the "parade" lap, a big thank you to all involved as I had a brilliant weekend, Gary

  3. I have already sent a big thank you email to the organisers and asked if we could retain our spot for next year, which to me seemed an ideal location.

  4. Besides the great time had by all at Silverstone including me, I have two more reasons for me to have a Godzilla Happy Dance Day today: > My two West Highland White Terriers have completed a full recovery after being spayed 10 days ago > I walked into the bank today with a five-figure sum of money I had saved and paid off my mortgage early - the house is all ours at last! So sorry about the noise, but this is me today - not sure who the man at the end is, but I agree, a happy moment!

  5. Yes thanks to all involved in making this possible, it was a fantastic event. And i really dint know about having to wrangle another parade lap, i would think the organisers will be pleading with us to come back and do it again, we were the only ones to put some enthusiasm into it.and the crowd reacted to it with lots of waving

  8. Many Thanks Scott and everybody else for a great weekend! as others have said this would be a great addition to the WSCC calendar, we need to do the parade lap again - once you see my parade lap video you will know why I need to ... it was great fun... For any other members with kids, Nakkib and me went with our two boys and I was worried about them being bored with the motorsport etc, but the infield fun fair has all rides FREE!! so my boys were on the dodgems, ferris wheel, roller coaster and all the other rides more times than I can remember!

  14. Yes, a huge thank you to Scott and everyone that helped organise the day - and a special "thank you" to poor Clare and her team at A-Plan for putting up with countless "have you got our wristbands yet" It was great to see so many Westfields and chat to the owners and also spot the odd wife or two falling asleep in the passenger seat in the afternoon - including mine on Sunday (not sure "odd wife" sounds right though ) My son came with me on Saturday and really enjoyed himself and he drove on the parade lap - I think he now has a claim to laying some rubber down on the Silverstone GP circuit and it was quite exciting to test the acceleration (and braking !) of around 90 Westies - thank you to whoever was controlling the pace as we all managed to put the boot down in several places - even lining up in the F1 start boxes. Great fun - will go again for sure

  16. You missed 5/ "We have the item in stock" = "We have never even heard of the item, let alone have them on the shelf"

  17. Westfield Sports Cars definitions:- 1/ "We'll ship the item within the next few days" = "We'll ship the item in the next few weeks" 2/ "We'll ship the item within the next few weeks" = "We'll forget about you as soon as we hang up the phone, and you'll have to call again, and we'll apologise again, then either repeat Step 2 or raise you to Step 1" 3/ "We'll ship the item today" = "See Steps 1 and 2" 4/ "We'll ship the item immediately" = "Immediately when we receive it but we ain't gonna tell you that! See Steps 1-3. PS, do you believe in miracles?" Okay, before anyone starts on me, this is just banter from me and I know that once in a while, Westfield do deliver when they say..

  18. A great weekend. I'm not quite sure how I managed to get on the front row of the grid, but glad I did, hope I didn't hold too many up! Good weather, good music and good company. We had a good pitch next to the circuit too. Bring on next year, I'll definitely be there.
