  1. Another update: Software is just about finished, testing OK so far at a supply voltage range of 6-17V. One dip switch selects between Lucas-style ON/OFF/ON switch or momentary ON push buttons, so it's button upgrade-proof... The other dip switch chooses between 2 alternate cancelling times. So far, I've used a traditional hazard relay - will test next with a solid state LED compatible type, but shouldn't be a problem...

  4. True, but if I was selling I would have ran Down inventory and expenditure to boost bottom line profit pre sale, but as you say we don't know what's being pulled out of the business that could be cut, still got to whish them good luck and hope they find a buyer who wants to invest

  5. Whatever difficult decisions the SSOT have to take, no matter how happy or unhappy each of you will be about them, I trust you will all respect the hard-working and often under-appreciated people in the SSOT who give up their free time and put themselves through the ringer for no more reward than giving back to the sport about which they are as passionate as you. Reading these threads convinces me that I'd never want to be in their racing boots right now, but I know they'll do the right things.

  7. Just an idea, but B19 used to run their club championship based on how many vehicles in your class you beat, so coming third in a class on twenty would score more points than first of five. When used for the whole championship this tends to be people gravitate to the popular class and ensures the overall champion comes from a competitive class. Good luck, knotty issue to get your head around.

  10. Just by way of consideration when thinking about the scoring system of 1st past the post versus target times verses handicap systems: This year for A-H: just over 43% of class events had 1 competitor 83.4% of class events had 3 or less competitors. we moved away from 1st past the post because of not sufficient attendance and that was in the days where we would have 70+ active competitors doing events.

  13. No David, I don't think your missing anything. I have edited my original post as my comment was unfair. My opinion relates to overall performance rather than from a safety aspect point of view. Put simply, I think it's fair to say in the correct conditions the ZZR is the tyre of choice for our cars. Quite clearly in less than dry conditions we regulate our driving styles accordingly. I think this goes without saying? Many of the SS drivers have experience of various other tyres and you are quite correct, we do not know how the other available tyres will perform but the fact they comply with the EU would indicate they are longer wearing, i.e slower? It's purely and simply a case of running the best available option to be as competitive as possible and in my opinion the ZZR is that tyre. If we cannot run it or choose not to run it to stay in a certain class on the day so be it. Ultimately the choice is ours, either way it's going to be interesting.

  14. Next task up was fixing the heater unit to the scuttle, using a diagram that Mark at Westfield sent through. Drilled the holes and then bolted it up. The top lip of the heater body was slightly too high up the scuttle and I needed to add a 2mm strip of rubber where it was pushed out by the radius of the curve at the top of the scuttle. Last step was to fit the flexible tube to the windscreen vents, and the footwell vents. While I'm still waiting for the loom I thought I would fit the lights into the rear tub. To locate where the holes needed to be drilled I put some masking tape on the body, and then a dab of paint on the back of the lights and then pressed them into place to make a mark. This worked well enough, but I needed to use the Dremel very gently to adjust them a bit. Even though I only needed to make a few holes this generates lots of dust, so took care to use a face mask. The build manual appears to recommend using plenty of polymer adhesive, but I found that the self tapping screws were very secure. in the end I put a few dabs of adhesive on the main lights and reflectors. I plan to put some silicone grease / dielectric grease on the terminals when I connect it up, to keep moisture and dirt out, and maintain a better connection. This weekend I have been drilling and trial-fitting most of the remaining aluminium panels, including the tunnel sides, rear bulkhead, and outside side panels. I used some engine oil as a substitute for cutting fluid, and then gave everything a good wipe down when I was finished. I've not sealed and riveted any of the panels into place just yet, I'll do this when I've fitted the loom which I am waiting for. Next task will be fitting the differential, and then building out the rear wishbones and axles etc.

  15. Giving you where I am... I'm running 1b tyres and they are low and need to be replaced , hence why I started the other thread.... (if the MSA make 1a and 1b tyres road going only. I then can drive to an event on the 1c's i was going to buy but Not race them in a road going class. My disappointment are for the likes of Dave Richings & Lee Smith who have zzrs with tread left and then will be in a class that his points are not in line. Therefore as a class 'a' driver I am happy for 1c tyre to be allowed in for the 2016 season in road going as the short notice by the MSA is not fair. I also think we should focus more on true class target times and class champions. cheers panda

  18. Peet and Jibberingloon: Sorry for the delay - happy to ship items to both of you, PM me with an address, and I'll let you know the damage when I've taken the to the post office (either paypal or bank transfer is fine). I've got to say, my plan to distribute my collection of spares to people who'll use them is way more satisfying that "nickle and diming" them out on ebay... I'll have a dig around and see what else I've got that might be of more use to others than sitting gathering dust on my shelves.. Cheers! Mark
