  1. Saturday dinner time, sat doing nothing in particular, some friends say they're going skiing, anyone want to join them. An hour later I'm at their house booking it. Monday morning I'm on my way to Andorra for 3 days skiing. 13 years since the last time and 39 from my first time on snow. I've had a great time and can't wait to do it all again next year. This is what retirement is all about.

  2. It is an amazing feat of engineering, I was never fully convinced how my narrowboat would fare on the river, I know I could have almost just done a u turn and comeback up I just didn't see the point although I do wish I'd have experienced the whole thing, It's a big draw to the region and a shame its been out of action for some time now, It was a great place to live especially for my dog at the time, she loved exploring Marbury country park

  3. Got the mug as well, shipped to my employer UK office. I'll be collecting it in the summer, but it looks great from the pictures

  4. We took our narrowboat on the lift a few years ago. Absolutely stunning feat of engineering. I recall chatting to one of its operators about the costs of spare parts and maintenance. I was told the hydraulic rams had been replaced at a cost of over one million pounds. Produced in Italy apparently…

  10. Having living almost in view of the lift I’ve seen it in action although I never took my boat on it, Still down for a meet and possibly drive out in the area

  11. Thank you Captain. However, I am certain you are mistaken since I did fill in Form JZ1709-F, Permission To Relocate To A New Domicile. Indeed, I completed it in quadruplicate such that I retained a copy for my records which I am now attempting to retrieve in order to prove you wrong. I suspect your copies got lost in the labyrinthian state of your "in" and "out" boxes. It really is something about which you should get a grip.

  12. After 12 years of ownership I have decided to sell my 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0 U.K. car. Owned by me since November 2013 and before that by another WSCC member. Approx 96500 miles, used initially as a second car and then more recently as third to my BRZ. Large file of receipts, never welded since I’ve had it and not before as far as I’m aware. In recent years most of the mileage has been done driving between car shows. I have not modified the car in any way as I prefer to keep them as standard, although the previous owner did tell me when I bought it that this has a Prodrive back box fitted. Being a 2004 car this also falls into the cheaper road tax bracket. I have always kept on top of any maintenance and major jobs completed over the 12 years I’ve owned it. The Clutch was replaced shortly after I bought the car and the timing belt last year at the same time as the last service and MoT which was at 96552 miles, the transfer box has been rebuilt with new seals and bearings at 82000 miles and a new alternator and battery was fitted at 95014 miles, 6 months MOT till July 2026. The Airbag recall has been done by Subaru in 2016. Large file of receipts for servicing and MoT’s going back to 2007. Like all Impreza’s do at some time in their life this does have a parasitic battery drain from the tracker. Despite my best efforts I’ve not managed to find where it is so I can disconnect it, but I keep the car plugged into a charger when not being driven. The car is fitted with a tow-bar but I still have the brackets which fit behind the rear bumper should you wanted to remove the tow bar and refit these. I will be sorry to see the car go but as I am now working from home it’s difficult to justify owning this and two other cars and in the last year I only covered 100 miles. £6750 or very near offers. I am located in Fordham to the North West of Colchester and viewings are possible most days. Caveat emptor: I am a private seller and not an expert, therefore photos and descriptions are my opinion and provided solely for guidance purposes. it is recommended that prospective buyers carry out a full inspection prior to purchase for your own peace of mind and verification of accuracy. 13. OTOH.... When I bought my pre-lit in about 1990, one of the first things I did was wrap the header. It lowered under bonnet temps significantly. I only had it about 3 years, sold it to go vintage racing. When I bought it back several years ago, it still had that same wrap on it. The header was in excellent shape, except that the chrome plating had acquired a green tint. 25+ years 5 or 6 years ago, I built a new header (larger pipe) it's wrapped as well

  14. It’s a necessity for me it been replaced so it was in place before, I’ve had it on all my Westfields, it does the job it needs to. As far as oil leaks go well I’m a bit anal on any leaks, this engine has just been completely rebuilt with new everything. Any leak of any description would be addressed as soon as it’s found I can’t live without a clean engine bay.

  15. Christmas wrapping done, ball ache! Sleeve type might have been easier when the engine was out but it’s done now, next back on to the suspension and chassis.
