  1. So finally had a chance to get into the garage to sort the worn bushings out and try the tool i made. I made a couple of modifications including adding clearance where it butts up against the wishbone as some have larger welds than others, and also to make a custom nut with a very long thread to try to avoid stripping threads. This also makes it easier to use as a socket no longer needs to fit in. I can confirm that it worked - I knew two of the bushings were worn, but ended up replacing five as I found some of the others were worn. This was all I had to hand and I haven't even started on the rear suspension yet. Photos are the tool with modifications, the tool in use for removal, and the end result with the removed bushing on the tool. Installation was easier than removal. I changed the front upper bushings on the car without removing the wishbones so it ended up being relatively easy. I don't know why this worked when others have needed so much force for removal, but there was no significant rust at all so maybe that made it easier?

  2. A change to previously stated meeting date, totally my fault as I got us double booked, so we are meeting on SUNDAY 28th Dec at Cupola, Hope Valley, S32 4TF, 10am. If you can let me know if you are coming and how many then I will book a table, it can get busy at holiday time even though this is a quieter one of the cafes. We will have a drive out on carefully selected roads to miss the madness and will finish at an equally well chosen venue to finish off. All welcome at Cupola but members only on the run out please, keep it fair to those who pay. Who is coming?

  3. Well done excellent tool your decision to make that extra long threaded nut is definitely the key to success with this ive heard others using similar tools that rely just on a standard nut have failed with stripped threads

  13. Well, the challenge is now officially over. If I'm being honest, I'm disappointed that it didn't strike a chord with more members and take off the way I wanted it to, but that's the breaks sometimes. Anyway, I'm a man of my word, so congratulations to individual winner @Paul Baker and to local area winners @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset and his members. A small, cheap but personalised engraved trophy is on its way to you - enjoy!
