  5. ON. The current plan is that rain is heading our way in the afternoon, weather forecasts are unreliable so we intend on meeting for breakfast and taking it from there. Hopefully we can fit a run in and maybe even a pot of tea and a slice of cake.........said Worzel Gummidge here. As everyone who is coming has well over a 1 hour journey home, we will keep this one short and do our best to get you home dry.

  6. It all looke nice and official, the v5 shows the correct engine and engine size, the chassis number and vin looks good too, the mot descprtion was just a little comment on one of the car vehicle type check things, i dont know where it originates from? May be from the mot testers description? It is fairly priced and has been used well, but it is in my budget and allows me to tidy it up too, I hope to be jouning as a full member soon!

  9. Well if anyone can do it, you can Dave, hope you have a good day tomorrow and we get to eat a yummy full English at Cupola with you on Sunday morning. Glen says it's the best quality breakfast in the Peak District. 🥕 The carrot emoji is for dangling a carrot to motivate you, not that you get carrots for breakfast 😁🥰

  11. Apologies for not getting back to you but found nothing that explains or addresses this. The system is a third party piece of software and we are at their mercy to a large degree.

  12. That all sounds good, i am new to kit cars, so this is all new territory for me, I have done a fair bit with bikes, and ultimately I will build a car, but think I need to scratch this bec itch hopefully it fills the gap a bike leaves!

  13. The tunnel and engine bay design on a genuine bec chassis are abit different with the driverside footwell being noticeable narrower due to how the reverse gearbox was mounted up by westfield and also in the engine bay some of the bracing tubes are missing from the bulkhead to engine bay top chassis rail to allow the fitment of the bec engine cradles . There are some genuine mega bec chassis out there that have a live axle setup and that was normally for people that wanted to save every kg as the live axle is the lighter of the two setups but they were special order only and i've seen 4 or 5 in my time. There is one thing to think about a cec chassis converted to take a bec engine on the selling market never sells aswell as a car with a genuine bec chassis unless the car is something really really special just something to think about if you did want to sell the car .

  16. If I can find and fix the reason for the misfire I had on the way to the Cheshire Meet last night, I'll be there! (And if I can't, I'll be crying into my cornflakes at home, while you all zoom around the Peaks!!)

  17. Well, that was absolutely gutting; apologies lads if I was a bit down last night, despite attempting to drown my sorrows in the biggest fish and chips I've ever seen - cracking food as ever at the Golden Pheasant! Having finally got the car back together, and the last couple of bits buttoned up on Wednesday, I set off in the Westfield last night, for the first run since July, only to start miss-firing after the first three or four miles. It got steadily worse to the barely drivable stage. So I managed to do a U-turn round a roundabout and make it home, despite it cutting out at every stop for lights etc. So the daily tin top of shame was jumped into for the meet. Fingers crossed it's something simple and quick to fix. I'll have to try and motivate myself to have a look tomorrow. However, pleased to say the sorting out Mike @Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO did for me on the FreeWheel and BeamStop all worked flawlessly. Many thanks Mike!

  19. We will be there, as long as it’s not too wet. Wouldn’t want to get my hair wet would I !

  20. You won't be able to fit it, as you have to slide it into the brake bracket then slide it into the clutch bracket.

  21. To give you a guide, my son is a qualified painter for 10years, not painting much now, but as a rule about a year ago he used to charge around £350-£400 per panel plus materials, depending on condition. He would never just paint someone else's prepared car without doing his own prep. He's been caught too many times doing this and ended up re-prep'ing it all again. Youve no idea what contaminates are on the prep'd car until you start laying the paint on. Materials have also gone sky high. Example he's just bought 5 litres of paint, primer and sanding materials to paint his T5 van. It cost him just over £500 trade. So it's not cheap. You've then got spray booth costs, like heat and extraction etc. His partner is a vehicle wrapper, similar prices for day rates and good quality vehicle wrap is not cheap. She only does high end vehicles or custom work. Most people just won't pay the money these days, plus painting is not a nice environment to work in, hence he's got out of it now and only does smaller private or custom paint work these days. Hope that helps. TBH I think the green is lovely, nice cut and polish would make it gleam.

  22. I have machined up some new peddle bushes and set screws as I noticed they had a bit of sloppy movement, side to side. Now the clearance is 0.2 mm so hopefully all play now eliminated. Also sourced a lovely carbon gearknob form the WSCC and have made an aluminium bush to fit. Type 9 gearbox shaft measured 12.3mm OD for reference.

  23. Unfortunately, I’m the only one around here driving a Westfield, at least in this area. I really envy you for having such a great community! Maybe I’ll prepare my track-only Westfield for road use for the next season — then I’ll be able to go with one of my sons, or just enjoy watching both of them having fun with the Sevens EDIT : as for "you realize just how special it is to own and drive one" - here , with no other similar cars around it feels from that perspective even more special !
