I’ve been a Westfield fan for very many years having gone to the factory very many years ago with my brother in law to collect his pre litigation 7 kit. I’ve watched the car being built and over the years morphing into a track orientated vehicle. Over a few beers on the weekend the potential sale of the weapon was muted so I thought why not buy it and then decide what to do with it. Offer accepted and it looks like I’ll soon be a Westfield owner hoping that many on here will be able to assist in my plans for it.7 points

Hi Everyone, New member here, picked up my Westfield Megablade mid week, looking forward to being part of a community with drive outs and track days etc Based up in Manchester5 points

Thank you for the warm welcome I will post up photos once the deal is completed which may not be for a week or so. I’m sure on here there will be many willing to give advice as I proceed with the next chapter of its progress. I am a lifelong Lotus fan and currently own an Evora GT410 Sport. Living in west Wales I also organise an annual Pembrokeshire Driving event for the Lotus Drivers Club along with one other annual Wales based event.4 points

Bagpuss the movie You’ll be pleased to hear , this isn’t the previously unseen footage from our Alps escapades.1 point

This time around, it’s the story of a filthy puss tied down against its will to the bonnet of a sports car and driven around Europe through all weathers, forced to survive on the bugs that smack him in the face at speed along the way.1 point

Yep as I said they are separate on eBay but I'm pretty sure run by the same company. I remember looking up their info years ago and I'm sure they both had the same address. It’s a common practice on eBay for big sellers to have multiple accounts with different names1 point

Wonderful, and welcome; we don’t see many track focused prelims, like Rob said - will be great to see photos and hear more!1 point

I believe this car will be known to many of you in the group. I’m selling as the car is just not getting used, I was doing a few track days with my son who’s now left home, and I’ve downsized and need the garage space for an upcoming house renovation. It flew through the MOT recently, no advisories. I bought the car in April 2023 when the mileage was around 28.5 and it’s now just over 30 (shows how little use it’s getting…). I’ve done some sunshine road driving and a few track days. I haven’t driven lots of different cars on track to be able to compare, but I can verify that this car is beautifully set-up and lots of fun. Looks and drives like a track car but the suspension is adjustable and is as much at home on the road as on the track. Wife even comes out with the dog on her lap. Always garaged, it’s been well looked after, frequent oil changes and a recent gearbox oil change. Not been on rolling road but estimated 210bhp. Weighs approx. 575kg. Reconditioned engine, new crankshaft, cam upgrade, swirl pot (to prevent fuel starvation when cornering on track), brake bias valve, some head work to help with air flow, oil cooler kit, Raceline sump, Simpson race can and manifold (huge can, but quiet), Playskool full cage with welded in side bars, JK fibreglass seats with pads and carbon fibre inserts including bases on runners, Carbon mods aero screen, carbon fibre front cycle wings, Willwood front brake callipers and drilled / grooved disks, quick release steering wheel, three sets of wheels - Minilite type replicas with 888's, a nice set of Compomotive CRX wheels with tyres which look to be about road legal but plenty left for track days, and a crappy set of Alleycats with some very and I mean very old Nankang tyres on - the wheels are rough and the tyres need destroying unless you are doing a drift day, V8 bonnet fitted to car, spare standard bonnet , carbon fibre dash , viscous slippy diff, gel battery (fitted in the nosecone), ingenious towing modification, curved rear view mirror on cage, SPA mirrors (central and side), lowered floor (fine for 6”2’), carbon fibre side screens, Procomp adjustable shocks/springs and front anti roll bar (not the Westfield one that has been known to damage the chassis), spare windscreen, side screens, wiper motor and washer bottle, Racelidz 4 point harness (they are five point but only 4 fitted but the groin belts to include in sale - seats have the holes for the 5th belt), high level cage mounted brake light. Car fully setup and corner weighted by Procomp. I can’t take any credit for the above and the fabulous set-up of this car. That was all the previous owner – more info here:- https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/144169-chrome-yellow-sport-2000-car-sold/#comment-1527438 Car is in East Sussex TN32 5QS. I can take you for a spin. You can drive if you show me insurance. £14,5001 point

Thank you for all your comments, I've done abit more research after your comments and I think I'm going to run with CARCOON Will order it today and see when it arrives. Thank you all for your comments :)1 point

@Nige_T, spec and price are right on. Sticking my neck out i would say it's your photo's not selling the car. Put the CXR wheels on, and take some all round photos would help show off the car, also put it on the FB for sale page, you will get more coverage. IMO the CXR's bring out a raw track ready look on a Westy, but I am biased 😁1 point

Another outdoor Carcoon user here.... Have 3 of them in use at the moment!! They last about 6 years used full time. I work on the principal that it's £100 per year. Putting the car in dry indoor storage would cost me at least £150 a month. If I know a carcoon is getting towards "end-of-life" I'll keep an eye on FB Marketplace and the like. I've picked up unopened (box still in shrink wrap) 2nd hand ones in the past which gives a useful saving. 2nd hand prices will be firming up now as we head into autumn. Carcoon themselves used to be great to deal with, the last couple of years, they've become an unresponsive PITA. DT don't generally keep stock and order from Carcoon when they make a sale, you can end up with quite a wait for delivery.1 point

Size 3 L for Westfield especialy current carcoon - changed design with larger-highier located zip for less spine bend "floor " section . But needs more room for car to roll in. Carcoon is fine re keeping car dry and rust free ! Great ! but - after few years and 3 Carcoons using - zipper is really poor. Teeths fall out so zipping and unzipping is not ...comfortable :) Outer layer (outdoor versions ) degrade after few years and tear apart. I am now testing chinesse version for part of price (1(3 approx with shopping of carcoon , not metion adding customs from UK.. and possibile to order size to one cm, customable window, colour, eyelets to support etc. Must say its much louder than carcoon small fans (easy to fix - removing one of 2 large fans in CH version and using lover voltage .) also not included bartery charger . And other design - not 2 layers outside (seems to work anyway with air flow Inside looking at brake discs, and other material - heavy and thick. But - only few months is my experience . No winter yet. Winter with snow and when minus 20-30 deg will tell if it is any good . Why Carcoon use over the years that really poor annoing zipper ! ?1 point

You didn't mention you were in the market for a Westy when you did my exhaust cat recently, Danny! That Megablade looks a nice piece 👌1 point

I went out for the first proper drive ever (after 600 miles) by myself. Glorious sunshine and decent roads. Maybe I enjoyed myself too much, as 'Life360' (the app we use to keep track of family members) reckoned I had 35 'risky events' over 47 miles...😬. I ended up at my usual haunt (Elstree Aerodrome) for a cup of coffee. One day I'll find a nice vintage aeroplane for the XI to pose against 😃.1 point
