  4. For me no down sides to a full cage, stiffens the chassis, full roll over protection, somewhere to haul yourself out, and best of all daughter can use it as a ballet bar 🤷‍♂️ Custom cage made to a very high standard, in a bigger diameter tube than the msa cage. And the The ballet bar, 2nd position apparently 🤷‍♂️ I have just thought of a downside to a full cage.....the amount of flies and bugs that get splattered on it!

  7. It's not the flies and bugs that are the real issue after dark in my neighborhood it's more the large herd of deer im seriously considering a full cage myself .

  8. If anyone is interested, the Knebworth Classic Car Show is taking place this bank holiday Sunday/ Monday at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire. It's a lovely secure setting in the house grounds with some interesting attendees in the past, including Ronart, Dax, Jag D-Type and the Grinnel Scorpion club. I'll be taking the XI there on the Monday (assuming serviceability). https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshare.google%2FEKkVv5QccjtlTZRa4&data=05|02||d3d6ff2397bd4426aa1f08dde09eafbd|84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa|1|0|638913694353739134|Unknown|TWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D|0|||&sdata=i4VHqFBmIHMUO5FnCPoK4Wx4t70UnVNNwuhSxOYYclE%3D&reserved=0

  10. Lexan and Makralon are trade names for polycarbonate, but the non scratch hardened surface is worth looking for. Costs more though, so could always try a normal one first. I fitted edge trim and yes you could use 2 side clamps and rest on the cowl and cage. I'll take some photos later

  11. I used 5mm I think, cut easily with a coarse jigsaw. The key is to get a scratch coated polycarbonate, not acrylic

  12. You could fully clamp one to the cage without needing the side supports, then just remove for mots or heavy rain/track days (that's what I do). I used Makralon AR (scratch resistant coating) and it's held up brilliantly as well as being optically clear

  13. I have to say I'm not sure I entirely agree with that. Disadvantages... They are not cheap You have to fit one (skills required) They are heavy so reduce the power to weight (the weight-saving guys would have a meltdown) and the cars agility In an accident if you are not wearing a helmet they can kill you For some people it can make getting in and out tricky They collect flies especially at night 🤣

  14. Put simply there are no disadvantages and its much safer

  15. Yeah you're right, just seen the link. It looks nice for competition, might be too much for road use 🤔 Not sure about the price, however they list free shipping in UK and EU on their website...

  21. Specification: Early Wide Body/Kit Bodywork 2.0 Pinto Kent FR22 cam. Twin Dellorto DHLA40s. Extended sump. 5 speed type 9. Cortina front brakes, Escort rear drums. Westfield diff housing. Full weather gear. 24,000 miles, although this may increase if the weather stays nice. Owned by me since 1994, but need the space for other projects. Hoping it can go to a home where it gets some use again. It had several trips to Le Mans in the 90s. It's always been a road, not a track car. It’s been off the road for the best part of 20 years (garaged), so I’ve spent quite a lot of time and a fair bit of cash recommissioning it mechanically. Have done about 200 miles since the MOT and sorted a few minor niggles. My intent was to make the car mechanically sound for its next owner. It’s better now than it’s ever been, maybe I should keep it 😉 Recent work: Engine – timing belt and tensioner replaced. New fast road electronic distributor fitted. New coil, HT leads and plugs. Valve clearances checked & adjusted. Timing set. Oil changed. Fuel hoses replaced. Water pump replaced. Radiator to water pump hoses replaced. Cooling system flushed and coolant replaced. 4 branch manifold and stainless silencer (with transferable lifetime guarantee). Gearbox and diff oil have also been replaced. Carbs stripped, ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt with genuine Dellorto service kit. Previously had rolling road setup and jetted. Recently balanced, good emissions during MOT. Brakes – master cylinder reconditioned (re-sleeved), front callipers replaced, new pads and shoes, new fluid. Seats – one of the original Restall seats had been damaged by mice so car now has some Intratrim Voyager (Narrow) seats fitted (on runners) which suit the car as they are black with red piping, Original seats are in good condition (other than mouse damage) and available by negotiation if wanted. Seat belts ( inertia reel type as I find harnesses a pain) have been replaced. Fittings are in place for harnesses if preferred. Tonneau does have a rip (still useable) but I have a new (unfitted) tonneau, and a hood bag available by negotiation. New headlights, steering rack gaiters, ball joint boots, fuel sender, clutch cable and manual fan switch. MOT until end July 2026. Only advisory on recent MOT was “Passenger seat not fitted”, my MOT tester has a sense of humour. Tester was very complimentary about the car. Body work is in good condition for a 30 year old fibreglass car. A couple of small star cracks and the gel coat has faded in places. The chassis and suspension would benefit from some repainting and the carpets could do with replacing. Price - £7,250 6,500 or offers Gary – 07551-883078 or email garydmahon@outlook.com. I’m in Nottingham. Please ask for more pictures or any more information.

  22. In addition to this, I have a friend who has an electric jaguar whose wife point blank refuses to get into it after two incidents where the regenerative brakes and the acceleration systems have ended up fighting themselves while driving and frightened them to death.
