I can't see that being a good choice BMW engines don't exactly have a reputation for simplicity.

Another thrilling update for all those interested in ‘What have we done’ We will be collecting the car one day the week after next and Andrew at Toybox has come up trumps and found us a roof 😎 This afternoon has been spent fitting the lift. All the heavy stuff is done, electrics and hydraulics tomorrow, hopefully ending with the Spitfire up on top bunk before we go away Monday morning🤞 The good news is, it actually fits!

The engine looks like madza /ford 2.0 Lf engine to me also used in some volvo's which is basically a duratec engine but i have been known to be wrong . Good move i think by the factory to get away from those ecoboost /turbo engines get back to a nice simple n/a

Personally I like German engineering especially the early stuff like the pulse engine ive mounted the gas just wish i had a full cage to mount the pulse induction engine to needs to be high so it doesn't burn my hair then my doodle blade is ready for launch could be taking orders before westfield do.

I couldn't take too many really close up photos, but the "custom-built for us" engine is based on a 2L Duratec, unless I'm mistaken? I don't know who the tuner is, as the chap I was speaking to wouldn't say. Which is fair enough from my point of view. The new XI is reported as being 25% done, and is currently off being dressed in its aluminium body! It very much sounds like Westfield are looking at going up market...... No idea on pricing as yet.

I have done a lot of showgrounds in my life for various things. I have to say that when the sun is shining you can't beat Malvern. It's clean, well run and darn Beautiful.

A few of the MK guys have them, but to me it's just something else to go wrong and it's actually quite a good arm rest.

The Millington Diamond range, 2.0 - 2.8L, NA, used in the MSRT escorts. Will sit straight into a westfield.

For me distance isn’t a problem just consider it a road trip and enjoy your car!

To cut a long story short, my wife has been banging on about having a Caterham for a few years now. They have never appealed to me, just didn't like them. Some seemed to look like Commer vans, with wheels that sit too far inboard and I just never saw one that changed my mind. Roll forward to a couple of weeks ago when we were out on a tulip rally around Shropshire (organised by Tern Hill Hall) and there was a couple driving a red Westfield. The more I saw it, the more I liked it. Even looked good with the hood up when it started to properly rain and as a result I less begrudgingly agreed to go and have a look at some cars in the flesh with her, so a trip to Toybox was arranged. We both came away with an idea that we could actually get along with a Westfield, but had also developed some ideas as to what boxes it should tick. An email from Natalie at Toybox last night with a few pretty poor photo's of a car they'd just got in was a proper bingo. Correct shape, good colour, engine I know my way around(ish) and some tasty extras meant that we decided to go for it. So the upshot is we've placed a deposit on a car we've not seen in real life, know very little about and can't wait to get hold of! The only issue that we're hoping Andrew can address is the lack of a hood, as that's an essential for us because we like to get around and sometimes rain can't be avoided. Last year we drove to Gibraltar in our 2CV, we've done the Dordogne and Laon Historique in that too. We've also done the Italian lakes in our '72 Spitfire along with many trips to Classic Le Mans. I appreciate that the luggage capacity of the Westfield will be somewhat less than the Citroen or the Triumph, but I'm sure we can do a few French weekends if we share pants. Looking forward to becoming part of the Westfield community and currently absorbing knowledge as fast as I can. Cheers!

SENA R T. On the dash. Have they explained this @DIY-Si SE Model. Naturally Aspirated. Road primarily with Track? Like styling on the interior. Track inspired. Not sure on matching exhaust colour. Nice to know reasoning. Big power Big heat?

This year's Annual Service will be at Bicester Heritage on the 9th August, from 9.00 - 16.00. There's usually a good turn out of various cars, and this year at least one Westfield will be on display. For reasons that I can't quite explain, my XI has been selected to be on display in the Exotics and Rarities section. Should you be passing, I'll be the tall, scruffy looking fellow stood near it.

The original brief the factory gave was for the top engine option to be ~2 litre, 16 valve, high reving 8k plus, or thereabouts and NA. Be interesting to see how much, if any of that’s been carried through.
