  1. Retirement gift to myself. My car history from 1980-2025 from carvolutioncompany.com. Very pleased with it.

  2. In the absence of the real thing, the postman bought this the other day. Obviously it’s the Caterham kit, but as it’s yellow and black I had to have it. Rejigged it so the exhaust exits on the correct side (Zetec) and lost all the Caterham badging and I’ll probably make a windscreen for it, but it’s pretty close to what we’ll be driving in a couple of weeks (hopefully!)

  3. Mine's burned into my memory VW Beetle - I can still disassemble and reassemble one in the dark Ford Escort - 4 door 1.1 engine - not one of the good ones Ford Capri - you were never sure if it was going to go through the hedge backwards or forwards Mini - fond memories of bypass hoses Triumph TR 7V8 - used to eat front wheel bearings for some reason; made me loathe pop up headlights Seat Ibiza - pre VW days; easily the most unreliable car I've ever owned and I've owned some right ****boxes Mini Metro - burst into flames one day UVA Fugitive - even less practical than a westie Ford Fiesta - bought it with Barclaycard points; cracking car; ran it into the ground Mini Moke - bizarrely went fantastically well in the snow while simultaneously being totally impractical for the snow Scimitar SS1 - underrated flying machine with the endearing habit of the front wishbones falling apart while driving at speed Land Rover Series 2 lightweight - I've had cars that let in water in through the roof but this is the only one that let water in through the floor - burst into flames one day (another Rover - coincidence?) Porsche 968 - easily the most reliable car I've ever owned Smart Car - I think the engine recalls got into double figures Mazda MX5 - fantastic car but turned into a brown doily Audi A3 - not worth anything but won't die Westie 😁

  4. A month ago I got an MSA rollbar from @Richard Slack shipped all the way to Italy, which, after various days stuck at the customs (my mistake, didn't indicate the value properly on the shipping docs) finally got delivered a few days ago: While I was waiting for this, a very interesting sale advert came up in an italian forum, about a chap selling a brand new Westfield full cage. I wasn't sure of getting it as I don't need it right now, but given how hard (and expensive) it is to get one all the way over to Italy from the UK, I took the plunge and bought it. This also arrived a few days ago: It wasn't cheap but a good buy here in Italy. I'll use the MSA rollbar for the foreseeable, might switch to the fullcage at some point in the upcoming years, or if I start doing trackdays more consistently 😄

  5. PDM32 has arrived back from repair at AiM, ready to go back in the car. Although it was annoying that it needed repairing, I think the repair process with AiM was extremely straightforward.

  8. I've had a few interesting cars over the years, notable ones being a Ford Corsair 1700 V4 with column shift, my Elan +2S 130 rare 4 speed model, a London Cab FX4 and a TX1, several mk 1 Escorts, mk2, 3, 4 and 5 Cortinas, an XK and an early X5, multiple kit cars and plenty more I can't even remember. Oh yeah, my 1.9 205 GTi was an epic little car.

  10. Hey all, I was on here for a few years with my Westfield and met a few of you, mostly in Scotland but had a prang which meant my Westfield journey stopped for a bit. Time and pennies are easier now (offspring’s Uni journey finished and new Westfield journey begins) and I am rebuilding and while I am sure progress will be slow I am enjoying pottering in the garage again. I will of course be leaning on the wealth of knowledge and goodwill on this forum and hopefully my questions are not too mundane or head slapping! Expect the first salvo of questions immanently!

  11. Thanks guys. I remember that trip. I was picking up a fibreglass body and extra wide arches for myself and seats for Rab. I was knackered, down and up overnight with a few hours kip on the bench seat of the transit I was driving. Still got the parts collected but hopefully they will be fitted this year!

  12. Great thank you. I’ll probably go for the 2” ones to suit the HANS device.

  16. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any sticker on the MSA bar, but I think those are (or were?) made by Safety Devices, and Playskool on the old days (this one is a Playskool bar). As for the full cage, it is currently stored at my brother's garage, I'll ping you with the info as soon as I have it home.

  17. I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to take my Mum out in the Westfield she helped me buy pretty much since I reacquired it, but somehow it never quite happened. Finally though, the stars aligned on Tuesday. I took the day off for another less pleasant reason in the morning, but that meant I could head up from Crewkerne to Wokingham in the afternoon to see Mum on her 90th birthday, in the Westfield of course. I had some great views of Stonehenge both ways, and it was lovely in the twilight heading home. After various friends had left, I persuaded her to tog up and come out for a spin. Getting her in was not too much of a challenge, and she was snug with the 6 point harness although could have done with a cushion as she could barely see over the dashboard! We headed out through Hurst and Twyford, hitting some sticky traffic at times, but then had a wonderful run back along the B3018 and the Straight Mile and home. She was very brave, didn’t squeal once and actually really enjoyed it. I’m not sure her hair will ever be the same though 🤣. The funniest part was, of course, getting her out again. It took a few goes and I have a hilarious speeded up video of it which I will keep private to save her blushes. So, there can’t be many 90 year olds who’ve been in a Westfield at a decent lick on their birthdays! She will be dining out on that one for a while 👍

  18. Westfield S2000 for sale. This is my 2nd Westfield I’ve built. The first being a Sport250 ecoboost. I purchased the chassis from a club member that had got a new brand new chassis already registered from Westfield. The car is on a Q plate - so no emissions when it’s MOT time. This is the new style chassis that has come from the new Westfield factory. With integrated full cage mounts and reinforced diff area. Keyless Start, fob and blip immobilisor. The Car is booked in for a following road session the end of this month- as the Ecu only has a base map at the moment. The car has done 0 miles as it stands. 19. Anyone driving the coast road in Northumberland. There's a new automotive themed cafe opened in Amble. It's on the industrial estate, easy parking outside, so not a bad spot for a pit stop.

  20. @Sean Walsh - Devon and Somerset AO Sun was out, so aired my hood today. Couple of photos of hood extrusion as fitted to my SBFS hood. The extrusion sits in a “long pocket” formed by a slit in tape sewn onto the inside of the front edge. Leading edge of the extrusion is then glued (presumably both sides) into the pocket if that makes any sense, Inside of front of hood: Passenger side end of extrusion at end of “pocket” Interesting to look at the construction in detail, hadn’t had a good look at it before, just used it! Hope this helps.
