Flat battery this morning meant Team Hall did a quick nose cone off and battery swap. I was impressed when we arrived at the museum that they had reserved our favourite parking spaces on the left under the sign, that's thoughtful of them. Coffee, breakfast butties and relax as we all had a catch up in the cafe at the museum There were lots of Lotus but I personally didn't see one single Caterham, what are they trying to say to the organisers? We went on a lovely run out through the sunny countryside, @Tony H made me laugh when he said how he enjoyed it but hadn't got any clue where he had actually been, that's job satisfaction for me Tony👍 This is the bit where we don't mention ALDI 😁 we arrived at Thornbridge Brewery and it was rather more busy than expected, the Father's Day effect I think. We parked up Ordered the beer and pizza. I had the 0.5% alcohol Green Mountain Hazy Session IPA and it was very good indeed, I am changing my opinion of alcohol free beers, they are actually just like beer. A lot of chat over lunch about next Sunday when we set off on our Lakes and Dales Tour, the excitement is building and everyone is sooooooo looking forward to it. If you visit Bakewell anytime, pop in here it's worth a look A bit different and a really good day out, thanks everyone for coming5 points

Sunday 15th of June This was going to be a driving day, where we would get to our next stay almost directly, and then did the last 20 miles or so the very long way around. It turned out a 9 hour exercise, including lunch, and many petrol stops for yours truly. When we finally arrived at the 2nd stay in Saint-Georges-de-Commiers, the pool was a welcoming sight4 points

Late to read this @Craigieboy, and really sorry to hear about your accident. Just to echo what has been said, so glad you are ok and no one was badly hurt. Hope the soreness doesn’t last too long, and as others have said, take your time deciding what to do. My car was fixed by the chap who bought it off me, wasn’t ever claimed under insurance but because I know it was done very comprehensively it has never worried me, so I bought it back 😊 Take care 👍, and agreed re holiday. Get yourself checked out and sorted from that perspective.3 points

Saturday, 14th of June After an eventful night, met up with my son and headed for the tunnel. Then it was an easy trip to Reims where we re-united with the others. A French friend from last year who isn't joining us this year decided he was going to say hello as well, whilst a German friend would meet us at the first stay in Andert-et-Condon.3 points

That has potential to be an absolute bargain for somebody. The parts alone are worth a lot more than the current price and whilst it’s probably not the best chassis for Craig to use as a basis for rebuild due to the difference in years it could still be worth it to cut up and use to replace the damaged chassis sections.2 points

Nice to meet you all! i want to present my westfield and show some pictures of the restoring process. I bought this car in 2022 from a guy in Asti (TO). Now the car is located in in Belluno (near Cortina or the Giau pass for example) It would be a pleasure for me to meet any member of wssc and show some of our beautiful mountain roads😁 the car it's a 2008 fw duratec 2.0 with wide track and throttle body. MT75 gearbox and sierra iopen diff. In the first pictures you can see that she was in a deplorable overall condition and a lack of basic general maintenance. since then I've done: full service (gearbox oil, diff oil, engine oil, fresh coolant) ECU tune and sweep test, the car now make around 170hp on 95 octane. We are far away from the hp alpha weber used to advertise on its ITB kit. Does anyone have the same ITB? New 55mm coolex radiator new steering bolts and steering lockstop (while turning left the wheel used to touch the body, now this doesn't happen anymore) installation of heater, wiper and windscreen replaced the straight exaust with the original one polished new 195/50 r15 hankook k120 new RCC seats new interior moquette new air filter corner weighting and wheels alinement fixed the stop light (brake pressure switch wasn't working anymore) rollbar painting I will also come to Malvern on sunday the next month, but I will reach Uk by ✈. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiCTvxtbkYfcgatk1n4k5lfSbCQWtg?e=e2drSg1 point

I hope you get them repaired ok.. I am sure there are plenty of companies in Italy that can mend and strengthen the arms... There can be problems with the factory steel ones also.. It will be interesting how yours last once repaired1 point

Hi Mark, I've got a pair of cycle wing brackets for Cortina uprights you can have for free. I was close to chucking them out. They'd benefit from a lick of paint, but if they get you out of a jam... Happy to run them down to you - it'll give me an excuse for a ride out.1 point

Very sad to hear but at least you aren't badly hurt, the car can always be fixed or replaced. As others have said, take your time to reflect and decide on the course of action.....1 point

No problem, I'm sure you'll soon catch up with your Pizza intake!1 point

This MNR really dont want to be driven...year ago few laps and front suspension issues , seems sorted , today battery went almost flat (5 yrs old , some of that yrs not charged, and tired with resting electric reverse.. I know , i should or chage for new. Especialy i was observing some visible voltage droops after every start...But i was not aware that bike engine cant work after start with external battery.. (is really true ? - question for BEC Users ) Chat GPT says that in motorbike engines is fundamental to have some battery capacity . The same said motorbike mechanic met in depo. Anyway, another DNF with MNR. With Westfield it was only one in first track run, then many trackdays always finished and on podium.1 point

Rubbish news on the incident @Craigieboy but you're in one piece, so thanks be for that. By chance I saw this advert on ebay recently for 2x (!) chassis and body panels. Absolutely no idea if it or they are of any use but I guess the point is a used/not new chassis might be a way forward? Or perhaps a visit to Siltech? https://ebay.us/m/womLPi1 point

Nigel Trilk was adamant at Malvern show that they are fully committed to producing 7 and 11 kits, still selling overseas and with a major announcement to be made in the press imminently.1 point

Thanks for all the kind words and well wishes, much appreciated. ❤️ I actually feel a bit worse today and it's quite painful moving about and holding on to the walls as I go. They always say the second day is the worst. We are away on holiday next week which gives me time to reflect, but it's in question now and my wife wants me to go to Dr's to have it recorded in the event me need to cancel. I'm not so sure I would want the same car back and under a Cat record, though the main bits engine, box and diff are like new. The lack of new builds either factory or self build is very obvious now. Gladly I don't have any previous experience of this situation and I don't know how things will pan out, other than the car is definitely a write off with a new chassis required. Thank again1 point

I remember of you crazy guys coming to Italy with westfield 😁 In Italy i can reach you on saturday or sunday, we will organize what's possibile. You should check that, I can also bring you but It's up to your travel plans. See you and the guys in Malvern!1 point

Had a bad day yesterday. Out a run with my mate in the MK and was involved in an accident resulting is severe damage to the N/S of my car, just at the door area. Thankfully neither me or the other driver were injured, though I am pretty sore today. I contacted Howdens and KGM today and have sent in pictures to be reviewed by their assessors on Monday. The damage is confined to one area, the exhaust was squashed flat, the top rail at the door pushed right in and deformed the passenger seat. The lower floor has been buckled a bit and I think the transmission tunnel might be deformed too. The scuttle panel has been pushed up and there is now large gap between it and the top of the footwell. Fair to say it's a bit of a mess. I'm totally gutted, after some recent upgrades it was really going great and I had some more big runs planned. Definitely a bad day 😞0 points

Yesterday the right ajm design carbon bracket borked down. Only 4 rides had been done before i saw the arches slapping the tyre while driving over potholes. I strongly advice not to buy these brackets, very expensive and poorly made. I fixed the bracket with zipties and superglue, it will have to survive one more ride only. 👀 I will then have them fixed professionally (if possible) or replace them with the old trustworty steel ones.0 points
