  1. I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to take my Mum out in the Westfield she helped me buy pretty much since I reacquired it, but somehow it never quite happened. Finally though, the stars aligned on Tuesday. I took the day off for another less pleasant reason in the morning, but that meant I could head up from Crewkerne to Wokingham in the afternoon to see Mum on her 90th birthday, in the Westfield of course. I had some great views of Stonehenge both ways, and it was lovely in the twilight heading home. After various friends had left, I persuaded her to tog up and come out for a spin. Getting her in was not too much of a challenge, and she was snug with the 6 point harness although could have done with a cushion as she could barely see over the dashboard! We headed out through Hurst and Twyford, hitting some sticky traffic at times, but then had a wonderful run back along the B3018 and the Straight Mile and home. She was very brave, didn’t squeal once and actually really enjoyed it. I’m not sure her hair will ever be the same though 🤣. The funniest part was, of course, getting her out again. It took a few goes and I have a hilarious speeded up video of it which I will keep private to save her blushes. So, there can’t be many 90 year olds who’ve been in a Westfield at a decent lick on their birthdays! She will be dining out on that one for a while 👍

  2. Rear suspension & fuel line / filters replace/refurb’d nearing completion Before: After: Removed & not replaced front & rear ARB’s and then fitted new Protechs & Springs, powerflex bushes, powder coated wishbones & brackets, new gates fuel lines & filters + general clean up & paint touch up. Next up MOT & back on the road 🤞 PS anyone after powder coating / soda or shot blasting, aluminium welding in West Midlands give me a shout. Excellent rates & service from a new start up business less than 0.5 miles from home - just wanted to promote a local service if anyone needs his service.

  5. Fantastic to see your mum out in your Westie. I did the same with my mum last year at a tender age of 86. She loved the experience too. Sadly I lost my dad in 2017 but he went to Oulton Park with me in my first Westie. He was registered blind but loved the experience too! Very proud of him. Photo of my mum last year Andy

  6. My dad is the same age, he point blank refuses to go out with me. I suspect he fears revenge for the time in my early 20s when I let him drive my Elan and he tried to scare the poop out of me! 😂

  7. That’s filled my heart with joy - never had chance to take my parents out as passed many years before ownership - just praying to be around to take my grandson (2 yrs yesterday) out in it… he already loves it & plays in it if it’s out on the drive when he comes round. memories like that, they’re special 🫶🏼🤝👍

  9. Been an owner now for just over 6 months, time for a review of my ownership experience so far. First off I would say as a new owner and new to kit cars, joining the club has been invaluable and anyone reading this, that is not a member I would recommend you join. Why you may say? Firstly there is a wealth of experience and information on the technical and build pages built up over years, invaluable for a new owner that wants to maintain their car to a high standard, and gain understanding of how the cars go together. Then there are the people, I have already met some good people, enjoyed runs out, went to the Malvern kit car show, and enjoy the monthly area meets. It has rekindled my interest in car's, and getting out and about with new people. My intention was to get a few track days a year in, having only managed one at Curbrough, with the Warwickshire group so far (great day out), mainly due to issues I found with my car once I had purchased it, delaying me having the confidence it would survive a trackday. I am Now planning track days in late July, Aug, Sept 🤞 The car i bought, as said at the beginning of this thread, was a factory built car and with a folder full of receipts, the car presenting and seemingly driving well I jumped in. Upon getting the car home i started discovering a plethora of issues poor maintenance and bodged fixes, some detailed else where on this forum, some giving me an excuse to upgrade🤩. I suppose the learning from this is go through any potential purchase with a fine tooth comb, more than you would with a normal vehicle purchase. However the problems I found post purchase would not put me off buying this particular car, as everything was fixable. They would have just been used to leverage the purchase price. Being i also wanted the car to "mess" with the issues I found allowed me to get a good understanding of how the cars go together, and I have to say they are quite easy to work on with most parts being easily accesible. I would therefore summarise by encouraging anyone sitting on the fence about buying one of these cars to jump in with your eyes open, enjoy the experience, be prepared to put a little work in and enjoy getting back to what motoring used to be like 👍 As purchased As it is now

  13. hello guys, I've recently fitted a 4-1 manifold on my silver top zetec ZEI. it is now running with an independent cat + supersprint silencer. Result is : - noisy (very noisy) - bad looking - possibly leaky (2 connections, not the best ones) then I'm wondering if there's any kind of silencer + cat (in 1 piece) that may be straight connected to the manifold, not too loud for road usage, ok with MOT ? any advice or your own experience very appreciated! cheers, Pierre.

  17. I think the answer is ‘patiently’. She bruises easily so we had to be careful. Biggest problem was my bare ali floors which were slippery, but once she got a foot onto the cross member she slowly worked her way up, with a little gentle lifting from me. We had a few giggles in the process 🤣. Thanks all for your lovely comments. It was a day to remember, very glad I got to see her on the big day. We are planning a party for her in a month or so, but the day IS the day, at the end of the day! I will certainly cherish the memory, glad I got some good pictures and video to remember it by. Was good to have a little sideways moment, however brief just to say we did 👍

  21. I'm starting to wonder if you are a real human Julie or an AI creation. Surely there cannot be a woman who drives and loves Westies, and cake, and Hobgoblin, and can organise blats and meets better than anyone. I just don't believe you're real tbh 😂😂

  22. Thank you guys for the lovely birthday wishes. I can't think why you think I like cake..... We just happen to be staying in Ingleton, North Yorkshire...which just happens to have a bakery.....which we just happen to have to walk past this morning then we had a lovely day walking up this monster, Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire 3 peaks Afterwards I went for a swim in the outdoor Lido, heated to a very balmy 29 degrees Finished off by a half pint of Hob Goblin IPA and a plate of Arrabbiatta, I think that I have been thoroughly spoiled and have enjoyed every minute of it. All made better by reading your lovely comments and looking at your fun photo's, you're the best XXXX

  27. Half the price!!!! I personnally consider westfield's one far too expensive. Also, when they started again selling parts, they were not able to ship to EU.

  30. MK sportscars sell a long 6" universal with integrated cat. Marketed for trackday use, so should be good noise wise. I've no experience with it, but others might. There's also a shorter 540mm version. https://www.mksportscars.com/products/universal-6-stainless-steel-720mm-catalytic-converter-exhaust-silencer-2-5-trackday-silencer

  44. I've owned my megablade for 18 months now and done nearly 7,000 miles in it trouble free sounds alot yes but I purchased it to drive not park on the drive to buff up.Today whilst out on a drive 30 miles from home I had my first small mechanical failure my gear shift linkage broke leaving me stuck in 6th gear so I turned round and started my journey home which included going through the middle of a large town chelmsford with multiple roundabouts, traffic lights and queues of cars in 6th gear it didn't stall once no clutch burn I was shocked I was able to do this lots of stop start and made it home no problem I can't think of another car I could have done this in pat on the bonnet for my meg. At least I learnt one thing from this I can go from 0 to 130 in one gear.

  46. Hi everyone. Some of you have already interacted with me and kindly shared loads of advice to my questions. For the rest of you, ive had my Westy for 2 weeks now and due to this great forum, ive probably learned more in that time than any knowledge ive gained over my lifetime. Id wanted a seven style car for many years and finally found one that I felt had my name on it. All of you can probably relate to the sheer joy i feel when driving her. Its like being on a track everytime im driving. Ive also become obsessive at trolling through these forums reading up on anything i can learn. What a great group of people you are and my sincerest gratitude to all that have and will help me so far.
