  5. Well if they arrived from Spax with the tighter coils at the top, that's good enough for me.

  6. Progressive springs courtesy of @DamperMan Can anyone who's already fitted them, let me know if there's a top and bottom. Or does it not matter what way round you fit them?

  8. Hi everyone. Some of you have already interacted with me and kindly shared loads of advice to my questions. For the rest of you, ive had my Westy for 2 weeks now and due to this great forum, ive probably learned more in that time than any knowledge ive gained over my lifetime. Id wanted a seven style car for many years and finally found one that I felt had my name on it. All of you can probably relate to the sheer joy i feel when driving her. Its like being on a track everytime im driving. Ive also become obsessive at trolling through these forums reading up on anything i can learn. What a great group of people you are and my sincerest gratitude to all that have and will help me so far.

  9. Hello. I'm the Yorkshire AO. We have 2 regular meetings each month. An evening one at The Buffers, Rakehill Road, Scholes, LS15 4AL from 7:30ish on the first Tuesday of the month (you've just missed the June one). And a breakfast meeting on the 3rd Sunday at The Darrington Hotel, Darrington, Pontefract, WF8 3BL from 10am. We are also attending a show this Sunday, 8TH June at Rothwell. We'll be meeting up at Rothwell Sports Centre, LS26 8EL at 9:30 to arrive at The show for 10am. You're more than welcome to join us. Where abouts in Yorkshire are you?

  11. Surely the correct answer is 'whichever looks coolest'.

  12. Tighter coils at the top should fractionally reduce unsprung weight, so thats what I would do.

  13. I put the tighter coils to the top, transformed the ride. No more bottoming out on compressions

  17. I am casting around looking for my first 7 style car, rapdily learning things that are important. As it is my first of this kind of car I am looking at the budget end of the range to test the water, and down there I am also seeing interesting (perhaps better value) looking Tigers, MK Indy's etc. Last night I went and visited a caterham club meet, lovely guys, very welcoming, were friendly and let us test car sizing (an s3 is a real squeeze for me, my brother couldnt get into anything less than an SV chassis even that would need to be adjusted to fit a little) but it was very clear they were exclusively caterham club not a generic 'seven style' club. I had, perhaps naively, assumed a 'more the merrier' approach to runs, and club groups. The social aspect of going on group meets and runs is a large part of the appeal. Does this exclusivity equally apply to westfield club meets? Do you have to pick your tribe or forgo the social side if you pick a niche car? Of course no one can speak for every club, but just generally are the westfield clubs more open to more marques ?

  18. Just got myself a mini English Wheeling machine, and I've made 'thing' on it. Not large enough to make an aluminium XI body on it, but good to learn the skills for making small parts on. I've even managed to get a 3-d curve going on!

  19. Thanks @Mark19691. It's fair to say that other than a bit of tweaking and setting the rear camber, you did most of the job. Your gess-string-stimation was spot on and well above what many monkeys in quick fit will achieve. Allways a pleasure when the car works with you instead of against you. Pleased the result has been satisfying

  20. Visited @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport today for an alignment on my SEiW, after fitting wide track front suspension and replacing rear rose joints. Pleased to say the car now drives like i had expected. Car is very stable at speed now, no wandering around, turn in/direction change is much more crisp and settles into corner nice. Looking forward to getting on track with it now👍
