Thought I would introduce myself! Purchased my car off another member on here that happened to be up the road from me in Malvern! it’s a lovely 2000 factory built 1.8 zetec on itbs. Also happens to be 1 of 25 carbon special editions. I will be attending the national kit car show next weekend, but was wondering if there was a local area group for the midlands? I can’t seem to find any details.3 points

Car Bubble straight from China - Alibaba) Ordered 26.02.2025, recived today ( by sea transport) , total cost with transport 365 USD. (included shipping fee - 90 USD) I have from years working nonstop two original Caroccons (new from ordered) . So can tell main diffrences: Cacoon vs Carf Bubble (Alibaba) 1. doble layer but afer few yerars outer layer of Carcoon falls apart after a few years in use due to weather conditions (sun / frost). Car Bubble is made from one layer, thik and haevy PVC, will see how it detoriates. 2. Carcoon (outdoor) is available only in silver , Bubble - any colour You like 3. Carcoon floor is really thick PVC. Car Bubble - If not additionally paid - the same as bubble material. From experience, I will advise pay additonaly for thicker floor, as I did. 4. Zipper - Carcoon - plastic. In mine 2 carcoons lost some tooths during few years of use . Cause some back pain during zipping and unzipping... Car bubble - zipper is metal, but cant tell how it will stand during next years 5. Carcoon - defined sizez, Bubble - any size You want 6. Carcoon - no fixing points on outer layer, Car Bubble - possible to oreder additional fixing points 7. Carconn - significantlyh less power - energy consumption . I have measured with a tool - Carcoon - one 10W, second 7 W (both with two fans). Bubble - when two fans working : 32W, one fan 16-17W. 8. Carcoon - fixed two fans. Bubble - two fans, but possible to deattach one (one is enough to keep bubble pressurized, two for faster inflation) 9. Carcoon - much more quiet ! 10. carcoon - better arragement around fans, allowing air to flow, Bubble - easy to block air flow (I have added some foam to avoid this, easy but needed) 11. Carcoon - AC - DC power supply is located inside Carcoon, and have option for battery charging (to be hones, never used this option in any carcoon), just kill swithch and after winter cars started with no problems, 18Ah batteries). Car Bubble - two AC-DC power supply, one for one fan, looks more delicate than this in Cacoon, but will see. Will update differences after few Years So far I am going to try to fix and improve my oldest Carcoon - change the zipper to more robust, if posible change outer layer to more robust, not so fragile, keeping what best in it with low power consumption fans, and two layer construction. Will see it will find a proper craftsman willing to take on this challenge EDIT : Oh and one more difference - in Customer care - mine two carcoons I have orederd straigt from manufacturer in Uk , conatct was well , how to be polite... better will not write it there . 😕 . From China - I got pictures from productiuon , detailed questions regarding every detail, info via whatsup when floor was made, when outer, when tested (with pictures) , when shipped, when arrived to EU, etc etc. Even too much of this Customer Care (and no additional costs taxes / dutes / vat ets , as it was with Carccon) . My third Carcoon was orderd from Demon Tweaks (with staded " 2 weeks " - leading time. Aha.. sure, was few months and still "sorry we can not supply Your orded" ) . Canceled this order. On Alibaba leading time was stated correctly . No delay.3 points

I'm 42 with a 7 years old daughter and 4 years old son. I'm rebuilding mine so it's off the road, but before dismantling it I did take every occasion to be out on the road with the westfield, even for a quick grocery shopping trip. Early morning, afternoon (nap time for them) and late night weekend runs were common as well, basically any moment they are sleeping or busy with something else 😄 (and I'm not working obviously). There is the occasional weekend full day meeting anyway, which gets plenty of planning beforehand.2 points

Just abit of a heads up too anybody thinking of purchasing this car . I went and viewed the car over the weekend as i fancied a redtop to roll around in for a couple of months and to drive down to malvern kit car show next weekend. Its not a bad little car yes its been damaged and there are of course a couple of areas that show this front flared side panels are a slighty different colour orange and the body has a couple of spider cracks that have been sprayed over and still show but i could live with that But and this is a VERY BIG BUT the chassis has been complete changed and the replacement chassis that has been used doesnt have the correct chassis number stamping This is not something i want to get into a debate over the reason for my post is that i would hate a member who is interested in the car traveling long distance with a view to buying the car and then finding the problem or a new member who is abit green not spotting the problem and then finding the problem at a later date .2 points

@prgraham welcome! I lived just outside Worcester until a few months ago and was almost equidistant to the Black Country, Warwickshire and Cotswolds meeting venues and not much further to the Herefordshire one. Hereford has gone I think, Cotswold has been dead for years but was recently subsumed into Bristol so worth keeping an eye on. But basically your choice is Black Country or Warwickshire1 point

I’m 39 and have a 5 year old, I use mine as often as i can. I only work 3 miles away but would rather do 3 miles in the westy than 3 miles in a Tintop. I have recently fitted a child seat so I can take the boy out for a few little runs and he loves it.1 point

Welcome! I think you have 2 local groups - @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO and @Rhett Turner - Black Country AO both have meets near you 🙂1 point

Mine got more use when my son was similarly aged than it does now he's in his twenties! It was a treat to pick him up from after school club - perhaps trickier to do with two children. I also used it for commuting during the drier days - it was ridiculously cheap to insure and run so there was some strong man maths element to it too. Never went as far as a daily driver though.1 point

The vin number stamped into the chassis tube just infront of the pedal box1 point

Malvern will give you the chance to sit in and try for size many cars. Most people are very obliging so fingers crossed you'll be able to identify exactly what suits and no longer have to run around the UK testing out cars that don't fit you guys! 🤞🤞🤞1 point

MK and GBS are slightly larger/bigger than widebody Westfields, so they might be worth a try. The largest/biggest Sevens are the Dax Rush and the Luego Viento.1 point

Hi! I wouldn't have ruled out any brand, but I only happened upon Westfields. However, the difference between individual cars can be huge!1 point

Two of the largest type 7 kitcars are the dax rush and luego velocity both are bigger than a westfield check them out if you haven't already1 point

Well, at least we’ll see you coming from a distance! Don’t bother with my car, it’s a narrow. The other thing is if you find something, buy some driving shoes, makes a difference in the footwell.1 point

Renewed with Howden yet again after searching around and having a ding-dong bad experience with Adrian Flux. Always impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable they are at A-Plan-den (sorry, been with A-Plan too long to change to Howden completely!). Thanks to the team for your help. (They offered me a much cheaper policy than Highway with a company called MarkerStudy. It seemed too good to be true at that price, so I looked them up on TrustPilot - let's just say that even with Howden's team in place, MarkerStudy's very poor reputation was sufficient for me to pay extra for Highway.)1 point
