  3. We all met at Quacker's cafe and because the sun was out it was warm enough to sit outside. Parked at Quacker's We went on a drive through the Peak District on remarkably quiet roads, up high, with great views in the cool, clear air. The sunshine accentuating the scenery, it was glorious and I must thank all you great drivers for keeping the convoy together all the while. Parked at the Traveller's Rest, Bradwell Lunch inside at The Traveller's Rest, it was freezing by now as the clouds rolled in Jake, missing from the previous pic More food required so we went down to The Pavillion, Baslow Parked at The Pavillion Cake arrived Inside The Pavillion, far too cold to sit outside Another fantastic day out in our great little cars and another quiet Bank Holiday in the Peak District, can't believe our luck. Thank you to everyone for joining us today and see you all soon x

  5. Hi! I'm sorry I completely forgot to report back. In short: it was brilliant and I had a fab time. Disclaimer first: my car is an absolute weapon driven by an absolute tool. I have not done any track days before - the few laps around Castle Combe I did in an Impreza and an Elise some years ago don't really count. So I have nothing to compare my experience to. The track was smooth to me in some sections and fairly rough concrete and tarmac in others. There was a lot of loose stuff in some parts for half the day - until multiple passes cleared it. At least one car ended up with a stone chip/small crack in the windscreen. The layout had mostly quite tight turns and one fast sweeper which also switched to off-camber halfway through. This one provided a great learning opportunity for me and I committed more and more throughout the day. It's an airfield so some will miss the elevation changes (corkscrew :-)) and I am sure I'll crave it. However, having nothing to hit and less to deal with was perfect for a beginner. There were 20 people in total - sold out - and probably only ever about 10 on track at the same time. This allowed me to drive my own thing for most of the time. Plus easy passing and - ahem - ample opportunity to let faster traffic overtake. The staff were friendly, relaxed yet totally professional. The atmosphere among the punters the same. I loved it and I am hoping to return later this year. If you have any questions please just ask!

  7. I have an aero screen, my teeth were chattering for a while but serves me right for not wearing enough layers! Great to meet some new westy owners. I had to make the trip as Stu promised me a bacon roll. I'd drive anywhere for one of those 😋

  12. Hello all. So after much thought I have decided to sell up to fund myself getting a bike licence and bike. It is a 2015 Westfield FW Zetec with less than 4000 miles (currently 3577 but will increase). Built by a father and son previously with new parts and a crate engine, I have original Westfield/IVA paperwork, receipts, and a load of build photos. I have done a few bits to it since. MOT is due 15th June but will be done before sale. The car has the following: 2.0 Zetec with OMEX 600 ECU Ford type 9 gearbox Heater & heated screen Sport Turbo seats Hood and Side Screen kit Team Dynamics Black 15” Rims Rear Fibreglass Diffuser Carbon exhaust surround Go-Race Steering Column to QR Adaptor Go-Race GT Bolt On Precision Quick Release Kit Gold Collar Formula Fitting MOMO 280mm MOMO leather steering wheel I also have a number of spare bits including an unbroken screen channel, carbon effect rear guards, car cover, original orange front indicators and some switches etc. £14,500 ono

  14. I suppose the bottom line is that you can’t “renew” something that you don’t have. Simples 😁

  16. Well done Jens. My first runs in my Westfield were done all around the airfield as I worked and built mine there.

  17. Awesome, glad it was a success. Sounds like a great place to go for a newbie but I'd be gutted if the car got littered with grit/stones, did yours suffer at all? I'm hoping to go with my brother but his car has a fresh paint job so not sure if he'd be so keen! Cheers

  22. As the person who volunteered to and was tasked with changing the membership system from essentially one level to three, I do appreciate your comments and offer to help with getting the system to work more seamlessly. Back in December in a different post, I stated that “It has not been possible to create these three packages with an easy, reliable, trouble-free method of upgrading or downgrading between different membership levels.”. What that means is that if upgrading or downgrading had been enabled (and I did beta test this through almost 50 memberships), members could switch from one level to another at any point during the membership period. Fine and dandy one might say, where’s the problem with that? You’d be right, apart from the money bit. The way it should work in theory is that those upgrading would pay the difference, and those downgrading would get a credit against their account (if any was due). What was happening was that it only worked about 10% of the time and when it did, it was anything but obvious to the member doing so during the process. Believe you me, I slaved over my keyboard to try and make it “easy, reliable and trouble-free”, but it proved impossible. Not only that, it would have generated work for unpaid Admins on a daily basis. I don’t like being defeated, but there are times when dragons cannot be tamed. I communicated all this to the committee as I was working on it, and they were fully aware of having to go down this route in order to achieve what they wanted in the way that was the least imperfect. In order to reduce any confusion as much as possible, membership renewal emails that go out 30 days in advance have this paragraph in them: ”We now offer two memberships options. If your current membership includes posted printed copies of the club magazine, you can opt for a membership package where you can download digital copies of Westfield World from the forums instead. If you’d prefer to do this in future, please wait until after your current membership period expires first! Once it does, just go to the Store tab at the top of the forums and select “WSCC Membership with Electronic Magazine” instead at annual price of £35. (Both membership levels include a posted printed copy of the annual WSCC calendar.)” Similar versions go out when the membership expires as well. To clarify from your comment: ”Having gone to my account to pay for this year, the only options provided to me by the club was paper membership at £53.00. No option for the electronic membership, so I had to go searching for how to find and choose the option.” There are essentially two membership packages, with and without printed mags. The base point from where everyone started was the package with printed magazines. When that package comes to the point of renewal, it can only renew THAT package. You can’t renew membership with electronic magazines because that’s not the package you purchased to begin with. That’s the way it needs to be viewed - they are packages that include membership as their primary benefit. For the most part, this method is working well and just over 200 memberships are now with the electronic version of the magazines. I hope this clarifies things for you and if it becomes easier to transition memberships in future, I’m sure the club will go down that route.

  23. Good meet at Haynes Breakfast Club this morning. We met at Podimore before driving in for 8am. A total of twelve WSCC cars there from Dorset, Devon, Somerset and the chaps down from Surrey area too. Plenty of exotica in the paddock and main car park areas. Was quite warm when the sun shone, and the bacon rolls were good! Big shout out to @markat for making the 1 hr 40 min trek from Okehampton in somewhat chilly conditions, especially with aeroscreen!

  24. I got mine welded up, it's back on the car at the moment. So will see how long it lasts, if it breaks again then some additional bracing will have to be added

  29. My 1st attempt at polishing stainless steel. The manifold was all the dark tarnished colour before and the silencer pipe and end cap weren't quite so bad. Started with 120 grit and moved through to 2500 grit before polishing. About 7 hours in total to complete.
