Yes, Someone sent me the same info so may the longer pin could work. Today I took a closer look again and seperated the spacer from the bearing. Doing this just been using a flathead screwdriver and prying apart. It was quiet easy. Actually the spacer is a simple part, attached properly to the bearing. I ordered a replacement part from LUK and I will try the same thing with the brand new bearing (prying apart) and will reattach the spacer onto the new bearing. I am not sure if it will work but I will give it a try. Will upload the result. If it fails then I will order the new, longer pin. Many thanks for the links!1 point

My advice is given as an MOT tester, MOT tester trainer, MOT manager, MOT manager trainer, and 50 years of MOT experience!1 point

There's been a long standing thread on piston heads, "ask an mot tester" or somesuch, where mot testers answer unusual mot queries, usually pretty helpfully. You could maybe head over there and ask how you can deal with this. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1828627&p=158 David1 point

Many thanks for your advice @John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO. It's a pass for another pre cat engine on twin Webers. Just got to wait on DVSA now. Thanks also to the wider WSCC community, as there is some really valuable advice and support on this forum - real credit to you all! Absolutely buzzing now.1 point

Thanks @John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO What ignition are you running? I notice the vacuum advance taken from inlet #4. Does this help in the mid range as I've left it disconnected so only using the centrifugal adv. Otherwise a very similar setup. Also, did you use a standard cam to pass emissions test or did you manage to (de)tune a fast road cam? I've managed to find a reputable Weber specialist who has MOT spec meters and provides a mobile service so I can be more confident of getting the car through IVA next time.1 point

I believe one of the keys on emissions on the day is get the engine good and hot (short of overheating of course) prior to the test, which helps burn any particles. It reminds me of a time in my distant youth. I owned a ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500 for a while, huge old aircraft carrier of a car, with a 428 cu in (7L) V8 engine so highly strung that needed high octane fuel and a regular blowout to stop the plugs fouling. I used to find a quiet side street, stick it in 2nd and leave about 100’ of tyre rubber behind. Eventually of course, I got caught by a cop who wasn’t impressed with my excuse of “I was only blowing the gunk out to it”. The car got sold shortly after to help pay the ticket.1 point
