  2. Having owned my Westy for 24 years, it was time to let it go to a new owner, it will be a sad time, but remembering all the good times, and meet ups with the Scottish lads and lasses, and conversations on here, will be timeless. This pic is me delivering it to its new owner in Lancashire. However, its new owner is no stranger to the car, having actually built it back in 1991, and it may yet see a return to its previous life as a hillclimb / sprint car (which is what it was built for). Wishing Ben all the best with 'ANJ'.....

  5. My home-built project that needs an owner who will actually use it. Time to accept I gave no thought what I'd do with it once I'd built it..... A common refrain from me, "we have 3 cars but barely need 1". In 2023 the Midlana went to the MOT & back and that was it. Last year Vickie 'encouraged' me to use the car more so we did get out in it once or twice, which I enjoyed, but the truth is I just have no use for it as I am practically a recluse these days. So, as the saying goes, 'genuine reason for sale'. It's not a 'good' reason, but it is true. £16,000 If the asking price is achieved, sale will include a bunch of spares etc as follows. Engine gaskets, spare set of used ignition coils, spare throttle pedal pot, spare MAF, spare suspension parts, spare diff (used but good), camlocks for the V6, plus any other pertinent bits (spare wiper motor, spare dash clusters etc). Will include all the templates I used for making the body panels, screen template, assorted 3D printed parts files to recreate them if required. Car currently has inertia belts but will include harnesses as shown in the shot below. Spare master cylinders. If the asking price is not achieved, none of the above listed parts will be included but can be purchased separately. Last time I sold a kit I practically gave it away, along with lots of valuable parts. Won't be doing that again. (Added for clarity, no spares will be offered for sale unless the car sells below asking price. If that happens, any left over will be advertised separately.) Can be viewed any time by arrangement. A few pictures so you have an idea what it is: Very briefly: Car has MX5 NA front & rear uprights, front suspension is double wishbone with inboard vertical dampers with rockers & pushrods, rear is lower semi-trailing arm and upper wishbone. All suspension joints are 1/2" rod ends or larger, or spherical bearings in cups. Pro-tech 1.9" dampers. Steering rack is MX5 (currently a de-powered PAS rack, was originally a manual rack but I found this a bit 'slow'). Front brakes are Wilwood Midilite with Focus ST 300mm vented discs, rears are Hyundai i30N calipers with BMW JCW Mini vented 316mm discs. Wilwood pedalbox and master cylinders. Engine is a stock Alfa Busso 3.0 V6 taken from a 1999 Alfa 166 so makes around 220bhp/200lbft. Gearbox is a 6 speed from a 156 V6 for the shorter diff ratio. ECU is stock from the donor 166 so includes working cruise control and passes a CAT test with ease (although it doesn't need one at MOT being a Q plate). Instruments are modified Alfa 166. Loom is mostly derived from the donor car and retains all the original switchgear and functions, including the Alfa CODE engine immobiliser system integrated into the ECU. Dash has a home-brew fuel gauge calibrator to match it to the Exige fuel tank & sender, which makes it accurate. JK Composites seats. Since first building it and getting the IVA in March 2021, I've fitted LED headlights, put a Sparco steering wheel on it with a QR, swapped out the harnesses for inertia reels and made some suspension mods at the back to add some extra droop travel. Last year while I had the engine out to do the suspension mods, I also fixed an oil leak that had developed, so it had a new cambelt and yet another water pump while it was in bits as well as a complete new set of all oil seals. 7. I'll be passing through Meriden around 9am. There is the Sports Park car park with an entrance on the island where Fillongley Road and Main road cross. The gates open at 7am, we could meet there?

  11. I saw the Bomber Command post this morning. Looks fantastic. Personally I will do that as a separate trip. There is a free guided tour that’s well worth doing. The car park is £3 and you register at reception. Hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing you at the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum. Please seek us out!!

  17. SOLD I've owned the car seven years now and had so much fun driving and tinkering. I am the second owner and the original builder enjoyed it for five years as was registered in 2013 with the help of Northampton Motorsport. The original build is a standard SDV with lowered floors based on the MX5. This is based on the mk2 MX5 and has the correct year plate from the car. The engine is standard 1.8 with the 5speed gearbox and rear axle. All the brakes, hubs, driveshafts, steering column, wiring, instruments and controls come from the original MX5 making it reliable and easy to work on if you like spannering. I enjoy maintaining and modifying which has kept the car in a great shape. This year I've added a raised sump to give extra ground clearance. Last year I serviced all the hubs and brake calipers which has resulted in amazing brake performance. I'll list some stuff to keep me from waffling on too long: Flat top intake manifold - best Mazda manifold and quite rare now. BP5A exhaust manifold - best Mazda NA manifold and super rare. Injectors rebuilt and balanced by Mr. Injector. Westfield carbon end can. Sport cat and decat pipe included. Coolant bypass - professionally made ali pipework. New battery Gearbox and diff oil replaced last year. New clutch last year. Interior has JK carbon top seats. Carbon fibre chassis rail covers. Carbon fibre entry covers. Caged half cage with high level brake light. Side screens and deflectors. Vinyl boot box cover. Car cover One of the lighter Westfield's at about 600 Kg. The screen can be removed as have an aero screen to save weight and to aid aerodynamics. Spare set of wheels can be included at the right price. Lots I've forgotten to mention. £8950ono £7950ono 07400 656562 robthomas5@yahoo.co.uk

  18. @corsechris didn't see this coming! As the good Captain says, this is an amazing car that has been built with total attention to detail. At that price I'd buy it myself if I was a bit younger. GLWTS
