New driving shoes (to match the car, of course): They are surprisingly comfortable for shoes so narrow and should make it easier to drive The Wench without catching two pedals at once (although I wouldn’t recommend walking medium or long distances in them as they have zero arch support). They’re an early birthday present, as I’m now taking a leaf out of my late mother’s playbook. You could not give her a birthday or Christmas present even a day early or she’d open them if she was left alone. Her excuse afterwards was always “I’m getting old - I might not make it until then.”, an excuse she first started using at age 43 and carried on until she passed away at age 74.5 points

Given that I drive without a seat (on my flowery cushions 🤪), I have been concerned about not having a headrest and potential whiplash or roll bar head banging in the event of a crash. I’ve made a few improvements to my workbench, including a jigsaw setup which allows for accurate, square cuts (a revelation in itself) so have finally been able to have a go at sorting this out. I used the outline of the passenger seat as a template and a piece of very strong laminated board to make it from. It is riveted to the chassis rail and attached to the roll bar diagonal using a clamp, all very solid. Despite how it may appear in the images, the pad is about the same distance forward as the head rest on the passenger side so is quite comfortable. The pad is rear half high density foam and front half lower density so it should absorb energy well and be comfortable. Not totally happy with my vinyl wrapping or a couple of other aspects but overall I pleased with it. V2.0 might be made from CF and feature a few improvements….. this one weighs about 750g, so not too bad. Next project is to do an expanding foam seat so I’m a bit more comfortable. Watch this space, hopefully it won’t go horribly wrong and fill the whole car! I have plenty of plastic sheeting and very large and strong plastic bag! Planning on using about half the mix 🤞🤞3 points

One thing I did do was get the tank as empty as possible then from jerry cans put in ¼ then ½ then ¾ then the full amount of fuel for whatever size tank you have and (while parked in your garage with ignition on) see where the needle sits in relation to the relevant gauge marks. I recommend taking pics of each level for future reference, it's easy to forget 6 months down the road and you only want to do this once if at all possible! Of course it will not read accurately when on the move but at least you know when you park up for your local WSCC meet and brekkie that whatever it's reading when you've finished your full English will pretty accurately reflect what is actually in the tank at that moment. Parked on level ground of course! Don't forget - take pics of the gauge readings!3 points

Yes, but normally the manufacturer specifies "x" no. of miles or, "y" no. of year/months. Not many of us hit the mileage limits, but we certainly do hit the date limits. There's a certain argument to say that standing around for long lengths of time before suddenly working hard is probably a bit tougher on things like belts and other fast moving rubber parts; as it gives them time to age harden, before thrashing them at speed again!2 points

Great advice for any kit, and I agree, but I have found mine to be quite reliable and reasonably accurate. This is if it's stationary, when moving the gauge does go up and down a bit! I generally keep mine above halfway to be safe and never below ¼ full.2 points

The fuel gauge is for amusement only and not to be trusted. Fill up every 100 miles and avoid the panic when the gauge plunges from just about 1/3rd of a tank to near empty after 2 miles.2 points

Welcome to impending Westfield ownership, our monthly Dorset meets are the first Thursday of the month at The Crown Bridport DT6 4AX. Very informal get together, come and go as you please, arriving in a Westfield is not compulsory. If you would care to let me know when you are hoping to join us, we’ll keep an eye open for you. They were from eBay, motorcycle stent clamps they seem to be called. I can’t recall the size, possibly 54mm but check your roll bar. To answer your question, yes, they work really well for what I wanted. I made a half hood from a full hood, and used one of the hoops mounted higher up so that it tensions the hood really well. Not sure if you’ve seen this thread?1 point

Thank you. From my searching I believe them to be Avid1-AV12's. They were on the car when I purchased it.1 point

Haha plenty of expletives prepared and ready to deploy. And I don't have to worry about the missus, seeing as I'm the one with the car and the husband is the one that's got to put up with it / me 😉 😄 Thankfully he's happy to do so (and is building me a car port currently to store it haha)1 point

Say hey, good lookin' - what ya got cookin'? Well it might be a Westfield and not a hot rod FORD but it sounds good. (Younger generation please google Hank Williams).Vicki @Steve Bosworth. We met at Quacker's cafe, it was freeeeezing and a bit cloudy but we were all glad to be out on a dry forecast. Car park. Jake, our photographer for the day, was taking some snazzy shots too. Inside Quacker's Cafe, nice and warm despite me suggesting we sit outside and Glen suggesting we didn't 😆 It's not the first time today we were all thanking Glen. Next we went on the run out, a route devised by Glen and what a cracker it was, thank you for the second time today, Glen 😍. A slight delay to the set off as Glynn had to change his shoes (not the stilleto's, that's this evening's club😮). Paul and Margaret were coming on the run and then disappearing early to get ready for a few months in Europe in the van, see you in June! We were booked in for lunch at The Bike and Boot, Hope Valley. A new build hotel for activity breaks and very welcoming to car clubs. Bike and Boot car park The menu is amazing, Glen had paella, not our usual kind of food Inside Bike and Boot We needed dessert after that so off we went to The Pavillion at Baslow and were greeted by the usual selection of sicklyness We sat outside and enjoyed our cakes in the warm sunshine We sit overlooking our beautiful cars. A man with a massive camera came over and asked if we raced them, we replied, 'No officer' 😁 The Pavillion Cafe overlooking the sports field and car park A brilliant day out, a good laugh, surprisingly quiet roads and establishments. Thanks for keeping the convoy together with all your excellent driving, it makes my life easier. Thank you to Glynn for guarding the rear of the convoy, also giving me peace of mind that everyone is looked after. See you all next time.1 point

Thanks for sorting the directions out Dave 👍 I have booked us all in for lunch, so no more entries please as there will be nowhere for you to eat. Thank you for understanding on a busy Easter Sunday (I had to negotiate a table booking without a £10 a head deposit, trade concessions as my sales manager used to teach me 😉)1 point

Made a run down to the Ace Cafe this evening for a classic car, Midget, Sprite and Lotus evening. I got sandwiched between a Caterham and a 'donor' car (MG Midget), but I think I got away with it ..😅. It was dark when we left, so the first time driving in the dark, and around the A406 North Circular road to add to the excitement.1 point
