  1. Errate .... Could not stand this nice weather despite left salt on dry nearby (on nearby hills luckily not white from salt : ). ) and took Road Westfield for a ride Few changes during winter - 2.98 first gear, lightweight 4.3 vs 8 kg flywheel , new steering rack , simplified fuel system and some minor changes . Good to be on road again ! As for the gearing - really its upgrade and more fun with donuts and starting on corners with lively rear vs original 3.6 type 9 gearbox 1st. But if I would do IT again I would go for even longer 2.7 (130 GBP more expensive but with all that work - worth it. At least with 3.92 diff). Rest works as was suppoused - more lively revving engine . New steering rack better self centering and confidence. And fuel system with swirlpot delete works ok . What a pleasure to drive Westfield around again !

  5. I've been a tad quiet lately, and only just seen this post. Here is mine in Jaguar French Racing Blue, very similar to the Porsche Shark Blue (I'm sure VW called it Cornflower Blue and used it on the Polo?). Not one of these pics show the actual true colour. I love it and have no regrets whatsoever.

  6. That's a nice healthy number for a standard 2.0 Zetec, glad you got sorted! 👍

  7. Retired. After 46 years of building buses I've retired. There're going to have to manage without me now. I was the longest serving employee at Optare (39 years) with 5 at Charles H Roe. I officially finish on the 31st and have to go back on the 20th for the embarrassing photos, I'll post them when it happens.

  9. Update : Took my Road Westfield for a ride ( 1-2 C deg , sunny, dry , from few weeks no salt on roads) well test drive, to chcek all after mounting back . - engine and gearbox with longer 1st gear and new synchros, - 4,3 vs 8kg flywheel - new steering rack, - rearranged simplified fuel system ( swirl pot delete) , - simplified brake fluid system (remote fluid reservoir delete) - 2cm lower mounted seat (seat rails -delete- ) , - and few smaller jobs oil, filters, coolant, brake fluid .. In fact longer 1st gear (2,98 in my case) is more natural, and really nice upgrade , hope I apreciate that later on trips and in traffic. One can drive some more than few metrers distance on 1st but to be honest, not sure if I would go through all this only for thist 1st, if not synchros, flywheel and anyway car stucked in garage. Only what worries me is that few times during this test drive could not engage 1st from standing start. Hope its just clutch cable or clutch cable pedal support issue, becaus not going to take this gearbox out never ever more! And btw it was really fun to drive a while Westfield again after few months!
