Hi all, Maiden post as I thought I should introduce myself and the car properly! I've been a member for a while, but have been lurking as the fear of taking a much older kit through IVA was quite daunting! The car is original wide body kit type, pre SVA with 1600CVH on twin 40s. Basically the car got built twice - 90s early 2000s, stored in dry garage, then all major items reworked over last couple of years to meet IVA spec. Usual suspects, loom sleeved in convoluted tube and additional clips, IVA fog mod, collapsible steering column, side repeaters moved to cycle wings, fuel tank protection, lights, switches and protrusions all blunted, etc. D-day has now been and gone and although it failed, I'm more positive it will soon be blatting round the white peak area. The main failure was due to the emissions testing computer not wanting to work so the test had to be aborted. I really enjoyed the shakedown run to the test centre on a clear 3degC morning as the sun rose. Beat going to work anyway! However, this gave rise to the 2nd test failure as the sump gasket was now weeping which was promptly spotted as we moved further down the test lane. Fingers crossed for attempt #2 - date tbc. Looking forwarding... with a bit more optimism. Chris. Ticking itself cool. List of what ifs raising my blood pressure. First sign of an issue. Nurse it back home and prep for #2.8 points

8 Westfield's met at the car museum. Did you see the MD, Ian, waving us out as we left, it's his day off and he bought the wife and grandbaby to see us, love it. I will be having words about the 'Rapid Horizon' vans parking in the Westfield Parking Area underneath the museum sign though😁 Tim is having issues with his hot restart and Ian connected up the ECU to the laptop to help diagnose it. We removed our bonnet to show Tim where the air temperature sensor is on our engine and the accessibility of the idle screw just for comparison. Well, actually, it's any excuse to get the bonnet off, sh, Glen doesn't polish it for nothing. Inside the museum we all had breakfast. Tim was soon to discover that we go full board on our outings, that's breakfast, lunch and dessert! We went on our run out, waved at the MX5 club cars coming towards us on the Bentley Brook road (they have good taste) and enjoyed the views over a sun soaked Dove Dale, beautiful. We arrived at The Manifold Inn, here is Bagpuss on his way in Hedley let us know he had arrived, vrrrrrooooooommmmmm. Quote of the day 'I like your Bugatti's' someone said to Hedley, well it's different from driving those 'Morgan's'. Looking great there guys 😎 Parked at the Manifold Inn. Waiting for lunch It's here The pub is only a few yards away from the Hulme End cafe, a favourite of ours, so it was inevitable that we migrated over there for the next course. Here we are enjoying that lovely Spring sunshine, it was still freezing, blimey it never warmed up today. White chocolate and raspberry cake was popular Andrew had the lemon cake, it was the largest slice of the group @Andy Westwood @aeg you two must be well out of condition by now It's been a great meet up today, we love to see new members and help them with their cars, exchange stories and teach them how to really eat 😆 We are out doing it again next Sunday when Mr and Mrs @aeg are back from their hols, weather permitting, look out for it on the forum, eat lettuce all week and come join us.2 points

Hi Everyone, I've just posted on the Wanted pages, but wasn't sure if that was the right place, so wanted to post here too. My brother is on the look out for our old Westfield that our dad built and completed back in 1994. We're hoping to track it down if we can, and whilst this is a long shot, we're hoping the nature of the WSCC club knowing more as a community than we would individually, might help us. We're up in the Yorkshire section, but we're wondering if the car might be further south these days. We have posted an advert on the Westfield Sportscars Facebook page which basically reads as follows: 1994 Westfield Sei Wide · Convertible · Driven 5,000 kilometres Trying to find. 🤞 Would like to track down my old Westfield SEI Wide. Maroon with swept wings. Reg TKN 360R Hasn’t been MOT’d since 2014 and is currently SORN so thinking it’s in a barn/garage somewhere. We sold it in Doncaster and it went down south somewhere. Any info would be great. Many thanks. https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/1586538692057080/ If anyone knows anything that might help us track it down, we'd be most grateful, and would welcome your input. I also attached a few photos, in case that jogs the memories? Thank you in advance. Rich and Joff Drake1 point

Had a fab drive out this morning, on my own but still had fun. I headed down from Crewkerne to West Bay to start, fun in places but quite slow going. Had a brief stop to stretch the legs and take a photo before heading along the lovely coast road through Burton Bradstock and towards Abbotsbury. I stopped again at the lay-by overlooking Chesil beach and Portland, fab views and more pics. Heading on from there I wiggled around a bit, down some fairly small lanes but plenty of good going. Finally I hit the A356 back towards Crewkerne and had a blast; empty roads, fast and open, really good fun. Car is now cleaned and tucked away, hopefully not for too long if this weather holds! 🤞1 point

The problem is that I can't drive and take photo's as well, so the camera only comes out when we stop, and when we stop all we do is eat and talk 😁😋 @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO the aforementioned photo's seem to have been 'moderated' 👙👙👙😮😁1 point

Just taxed The Flying Carrot, paid monthly it's £30.18 or £362.25pa. It definitely has gone up recently. I've argued the case for years that road tax should be based on the amount of miles you do, not emissions (it is not based on emissions for all cars though, it depends upon the year of the car) Put simply, whatever emissions bracket a car is in, if you do zero mileage then the emissions are zero, so the system was basically flawed from the off! A classic example is my 2010 Jag XK 5.0 N/A. Top tax bracket. But so is the XKR or XKR-S with a lot more power. I did 700 miles between the last MOTs, my road tax is £65 odd A MONTH! So I paid around £1.10 a mile even before I started the damned engine, it just ain't right is it! Pretty sure I read somewhere recently that they are considering changing it from emissions based to some other system. For low mileage use cars they really do need to come up with something better.1 point

I visited CleaR Motorsport yesterday to have a full geo and corner weighting set up. @Mark19691 joined us for the session as he's keen to have his car set up soon too. My car is just a few feet away from the scales as @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport get set up. Here's the start position (with me in the car)- I'm circa 70kgs. The scissor lift made it easy to remove the rear wheels. Unfortunately the rear (alloy) spring perches on both my rear Spax dampers are galvanically corroded to my steel bodied dampers. We didn't want me to end of immobilised, so brute force was limited. A quick call to @DamperMan confirmed there was little more we could do with the shocks on the car and he's offered a solution for me to take up in the future to resolve the issue. As my car is only used on the road, some may say corner weighting isn't necessary any how. My front camber was adjusted and this meant the toe needed to be adjusted again (it was done recently when @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport kindly did a home visit). Rear camber was spot on and rear toe also. A quick test drive confirmed all was well and car was turning in nicely and handling well. A great service by a very friendly and knowledgeable member. It's great to have such a service available again in the NW and only 25 miles away for me. A rear asset to the club and if you've seen any of his video's of him flying round Oulton in the Lobster, he clearly understand how a driver can get the best out of a chassis too!1 point
