8 Westfield's met at the car museum. Did you see the MD, Ian, waving us out as we left, it's his day off and he bought the wife and grandbaby to see us, love it. I will be having words about the 'Rapid Horizon' vans parking in the Westfield Parking Area underneath the museum sign though😁 Tim is having issues with his hot restart and Ian connected up the ECU to the laptop to help diagnose it. We removed our bonnet to show Tim where the air temperature sensor is on our engine and the accessibility of the idle screw just for comparison. Well, actually, it's any excuse to get the bonnet off, sh, Glen doesn't polish it for nothing. Inside the museum we all had breakfast. Tim was soon to discover that we go full board on our outings, that's breakfast, lunch and dessert! We went on our run out, waved at the MX5 club cars coming towards us on the Bentley Brook road (they have good taste) and enjoyed the views over a sun soaked Dove Dale, beautiful. We arrived at The Manifold Inn, here is Bagpuss on his way in Hedley let us know he had arrived, vrrrrrooooooommmmmm. Quote of the day 'I like your Bugatti's' someone said to Hedley, well it's different from driving those 'Morgan's'. Looking great there guys 😎 Parked at the Manifold Inn. Waiting for lunch It's here The pub is only a few yards away from the Hulme End cafe, a favourite of ours, so it was inevitable that we migrated over there for the next course. Here we are enjoying that lovely Spring sunshine, it was still freezing, blimey it never warmed up today. White chocolate and raspberry cake was popular Andrew had the lemon cake, it was the largest slice of the group @Andy Westwood @aeg you two must be well out of condition by now It's been a great meet up today, we love to see new members and help them with their cars, exchange stories and teach them how to really eat 😆 We are out doing it again next Sunday when Mr and Mrs @aeg are back from their hols, weather permitting, look out for it on the forum, eat lettuce all week and come join us.8 points

Had a fab drive out this morning, on my own but still had fun. I headed down from Crewkerne to West Bay to start, fun in places but quite slow going. Had a brief stop to stretch the legs and take a photo before heading along the lovely coast road through Burton Bradstock and towards Abbotsbury. I stopped again at the lay-by overlooking Chesil beach and Portland, fab views and more pics. Heading on from there I wiggled around a bit, down some fairly small lanes but plenty of good going. Finally I hit the A356 back towards Crewkerne and had a blast; empty roads, fast and open, really good fun. Car is now cleaned and tucked away, hopefully not for too long if this weather holds! 🤞2 points

You won't be able to repair it for what you paid for it. Westfield are charging too much for parts to make it viable to repair your car though the insurance company. It will be a write off. I bought mine for 11k had it insured for 12k and got 11.5k for it. I needed to insured for 15k I could have repaired it for around 12k, outside of the insurance. Probably cheaper with second hand parts, but having walked away from tha accident, I'm looking at a ginetta g40r with FIA cage/chassis. Its the first time I've had to make a claim though insurance and it was a nightmare. The insurance company couldn't repair my car, arrange covered transport for my car, or value the car correctly. You'll get less than what it insured for. Your car should be valued on the cost to repair it, not what you pay for it. Hopefully the next issue of the magazine will have a section on this. I'm totally gutted, but hopefully it will live on with siltech. Most insurance companies offer an agreed value. It won't cost you much more and hopefully you won't have to go though and insurance calim. But if you do, please make sure you have the money to repair your westy!2 points

Oh, and chatting to @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport just before Christmas, about a handling issue that had been niggling me for a bit - ever since I had those horrid ditch finder tyres on, in fact. (The Uniroyals though much better, still lacked the superb turn-in and "bite" the car used to have. After chatting about my set up - which will need a refresh as well, Maurici suggested refitting the front ARB, (Playskool item, so softer than WSC Ltd's), set to full soft. I knew the rose joints were a little worn before I removed the bar previously, so got a fresh set from McGill and re-instated the arb. First trip out was a couple of weeks ago, but the roads were a bit damp and cold to get any sort of decent feedback. Today however, was a lot better in the Peaks. Though a bit damp in places, in the morning still, and cold. The car still felt noticeably more pointy and re-assuring though. The trip back over the hills and moors was great fun though, with the car back to feeling way more like it should, quick and sharp turn in, feeling like it just wants to bite and grip! Many thanks Maurici!2 points

Sadly i have come to the realisation that i will not get the time to use the westfield in any meaningful way for a while, i was working 7 days a week now somehow i am needed to work more! The car in question is PaulT's old one, build thread here: As you can see Paul went through this car and did a lot of work, it still needs a couple of things first is an alignment, its in dire need of one and also new coilovers, which i have, Tony has custom built some spax coilovers for the car, they just need fitting. The Rad fan has also decided to be intermittent As per Pauls build thread you can see the engine does has some blowby, it still runs fine but i also have a 2.0 blacktop with 47k on the clock from a 1 owner mondeo, i have the pulley to reverse the water pump and the raceline sump baffle plate, these are all to go with the car. i dont have many pics of the car butit has not changed much since Pauls ownership. It comes with westfield half hood, soft biot for sevens roof poles so hood doesent flap into your head (brand spanking new), indoor cover, waterproof cover in cae you get caught short, side doors, wind deflectors, spare steering wheel and a few other bits and pieces This is a very civilised westfield with heated seats, a heater and even a cigarette lighter, with a decent weekend in the garage it could be back to 100% im only asking £7500 for the car with the spare engine etc and not willing to accept any offers at that price i'm afraid. you can contact me via pm or 079497007412 points

I disagree with they way cars are seen as a cash cow and any restrictions on what we can buy has consequences. At present manufacturers have a maximum percentage of cars they sell allowed to be ICE powered. If they exceed that for every one the sell in the UK it is a £15k fine so manufactures are caught with EV's that the majority of private buyers do not want and an inability to sell what they want at a profit. People like the space and perceived safety of SUV size vehicles and already government and councils are trying to change buying habits not by proving the worth of EV but by restricting them financially, extra new car tax, extra VED workplace parking schemes and some councils charging you more for a residents parking permit if it does not fir their criteria. All the time people hanging on to older vehicles, not buying used EV's due to fear and lack of charging facilities especially for those who live in flats. VED will only ever go up and up and then we will get a mileage charge. pence per mile, which again will be stilted to promote EV use. Hobby cars like ours do not feature in any thoughts as if we can afford them we can afford to pay more VED even though the mileage is less. Net zero is the gift that keeps on giving1 point

The Honda is a heavier set up than the average small planet, let alone a Zetec! (I was once pulling the leg of an SEiGHT owner about the weight of their Rover gearbox, - 40+ kg. They politely suggested I check the weight of the Honda box! Yes, it was heavier than the v8’s ‘box!!) The Honda f20c engine and box are surprisingly big and heavy for an all aluminium four pot.1 point

Unfortunately my westfield ownership is over 😪 due to a farmer leaving a road covered in mud, last year... Please make sure that you have your westfield insured for an agreed value not what you paid for it! The body work and nose cone was going to cost £2700 🤦♂️ and westfield wouldn't consider a discount. The cost of the body work will write the car off. I was very lucky to have walked away from the accident and siltech are looking at rebuidling my car. £400 ono for the boot lid and £150 for the RAC roll bar. Collection from LE120 points
