  3. Hi all, name is Des. I recently bought a wide body with a 4AGE 20v which came from Jersey originally and shipped to Australia .

  4. Welcome! If it was from Jersey in the Channel Islands, I hope my sister-in-law who lives there didn’t touch it or your car will need an exorcist to de-possess it.

  5. I thought you northerners were all tough? 😂 Just shy of 200 miles round trip to the MK open day last Saturday. Aeroscreen and no heater but I do have half doors and a heated jacket for when its below 8'. Once I'm on the road I get all the comfort I need from the V8 exhaust note. Kenton pic from warmer weather last year. Millau bridge

  6. Not sure if all that effort and gymanstics is worth it . Hope so ! (2.98 longer 1st gear, new synchros bearings seals etc in gearbox, new UJs in proposhaft, and 4.3 vs 8 kg flywheel), new steering rack etc. But if started must end .. Edit - waiting for spring

  9. That looks like a lovely view but a properly dumb place to camp (left of photo). Reminds me of a time I was in Gran Canaria. Bloke was in his tin top, in a sandy recess next to a mountain on a curve of a busy road, miles from anywhere, all by himself and playing a tuba in his car. One of the most surreal things I've ever seen.

  11. If you’re trying to renew your membership but getting this screen: it’s not your fault, there’s (yet another) slight issue backstage. The club has gone from using PayPal to process payments to Stripe, which seems to have greatly irritated the backstage software. If you are among the “lucky” members who have been affected, please reply below and I’ll fix it for you. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Those responsible have been fed to a herd of venomous flesh-eating rabbits and their clothes given to charity. (I often wonder if members read this far down.)

  15. As I'm somewhat tall and lanky I don't use doors as I like to use the rear arch as an armrest. Car has wind deflectors. Always wear aviator type glasses retained with a strap. In winter I have a heat-holders "biggles" type hat that is lovely and warm but does make you look a bit of a wally. Have tried woolly hats but the turbulence can push them down over your eyes once you get to about 60mph... If it's chilly or I'm doing longer runs I'll often wear a windproof jacket as that stops my right shoulder going numb from the buffeting. Have worn a bike helmet for longest runs just to keep the noise down. Is absolutely fine for visibility. Just have to put a pad on the roll bar to save clattering the back of the helmet against it...

  16. Hi Des, I'm new too but seems a good forum. Where are you from in Australia?

  17. I was a biker, so don’t mind a helmet! Just ordered a new Matt Black one. Thanks. I think this will work.

  18. Update : Took my Road Westfield for a ride ( 1-2 C deg , sunny, dry , from few weeks no salt on roads) well test drive, to chcek all after mounting back . - engine and gearbox with longer 1st gear and new synchros, - 4,3 vs 8kg flywheel - new steering rack, - rearranged simplified fuel system ( swirl pot delete) , - simplified brake fluid system (remote fluid reservoir delete) - 2cm lower mounted seat (seat rails -delete- ) , - and few smaller jobs oil, filters, coolant, brake fluid .. In fact longer 1st gear (2,98 in my case) is more natural, and really nice upgrade , hope I apreciate that later on trips and in traffic. One can drive some more than few metrers distance on 1st but to be honest, not sure if I would go through all this only for thist 1st, if not synchros, flywheel and anyway car stucked in garage. Only what worries me is that few times during this test drive could not engage 1st from standing start. Hope its just clutch cable or clutch cable pedal support issue, becaus not going to take this gearbox out never ever more! And btw it was really fun to drive a while Westfield again after few months!

  20. Six of us met in Exeter last night for a ‘Christmas Curry Night’! Most travelled by train, Matt and I meeting on the train from Crewkerne at Axminster, whilst Jens decided to bring his camper van and sleep over! 🚐👌 Trains being trains, we were late arriving, and after meeting Dan, Colin and then Jens in the Farmer’s Union pub, we wandered across to find a very patient Steve waiting in the Gandhi curry house. The food was excellent, drink flowed and a good time was had by all. Steve wandered back to his hotel, and the rest headed off for trains around 10.15/10.30 leaving Jens to an apparently cosy and uninterrupted night’s sleep in his van 👍 A couple of photos showing Steve, Jens and Colin deep in what looks like a very serious conversation 🤣, and the obligatory selfie of all of us. Thanks Chaps, a grand night out. Stu

  23. I use half doors and Caterham wind deflectors in the winter. Together they are very effective at cutting down buffeting and ‘Westie Nose!’ Whilst still maintaining a very open feel.

  25. Yes, was just above freezing. No heater either, but had my new for Christmas heated gloves which helped 👍. Roads were pretty slick too, not ideal R888R weather and had wheel spin in 3rd a couple of times, not sure what these F40s drivers are struggling with? 🤣🤣

  27. That's funny - I sometimes have people that are fans of the show ask if that's really what Montana is like. The views are like in the show most of the time...in fact some of those very same views are what I see when I ride my bike on the back roads around here. The weather is clear most of the time. It really is sunny much of the time and if it's not it's snowing. But one gets the impression from the show that you need to murder people all the time and that's just not true. I've hardly ever killed anyone and then thrown their body in a ditch by the side of the road! dave
