  2. I'd prefer mine to be one of the lovely, bright blues others on this thread have, but a couple of stripes add interest. And some leccy tape on the roll bar and windscreen 😁

  3. So what you’re saying here is that orange cars are actually red cars that have been badly cared for by their owners? Interesting self-admission.

  4. I've got the Dunnell Water Rail on a Silvertop. I added it after the original housing broke. No need to change water pump. Water rail only re-routes the pipe for the main flow when the thermostat is open. Return pipe from rad to water pump is unchanged. Bypass circuit, heater circuit and line to header tank all work the same as OEM housing just slightly different outlet locations. The housing itself is a bit of CNC billet metal beauty.... shame you can't really see it once it is in place.

  6. Not when he figures out that’s in dog years. In reality, he’s 490. Mind you, being Julie’s personal mechanic, car polisher and cake retriever keeps him fit. 👍

  9. Thank you Julie, prices quoted so far have been what I would call reasonable.

  10. We pay £200 and umpty something with Howden's, Thatcham. That's for my husband (70 yo) and myself with unlimited mileage. It might be worth getting an agreed value for the car too, which we have. It must be the Thatcham branch of Howden's, don't forget to mention that you are a club member for the discount and please let us know how you get on so other's can benefit from your experience. @Des911

  11. Shop around. I've found costs vary a lot but I tend to go with a company who are good to deal with. I was very surprised at the attitude of one company who seemed far too interested in how much experience I had in fast cars. The assumption on their part was that I would be driving round like a complete idiot despite being in my 50's. My insurance cost £190 and is limited to 3000 miles. That probably isn't cheap but they were the best company to deal with. It's a shame it wasn't Howdens.

  16. @Des911 My 1.8 Zetec Westfield cost me £112 last renewal with Howden; limited 3,000 miles. Be sure you contact the Thatcham office as the kit car specialists are based there; you can get a very different price from their other offices
