I did the Long Way North this year in my 25 year old Zetec Westfield. 740 miles in 3 days. Absolutely loved it. And I'm 704 points

Every single member receives the magazine, it is whether it is received in a digital format or a paper copy that is a choice. on the digital magazine, QR codes and links can be provided to take the member straight to their website, this could be seen as more effective3 points

Hi there, I know it’s been 16 years since your post!! 🤣🤣🙈 …but believe it or not a friend of mine has a cutout of the original “A prayer for the enthusiast” which he has kept in his wallet for 60+ years and still in good condition! For years he has been asking around about it and no one has ever heard of it…. Until now!! He has also shown it to Clive Chapman (Colin Chapman’s son) at a Jim Clark Trust event, who was moved to taking a photo of it with Jim Clark’s championship winning Lotus 25. We are Sat having a drink and a blether and I thought I’d try googling! Took me a while but I finally found your post! My friend would be very interested to hear more about it, where it comes from, and who wrote it. I do have a photo of it but not sure how to include it here with the URL. Bit of a long shot but would be great to hear back from you. Cheers, Donny.1 point

It could end up being a positive thing for the kit car market- fewer alternatives to 'white good's' cars will be around.1 point

You should try a long distance drive/adventure some time. I have completed 4 or so plus 300 mile runs in a day over the last 2 years. Mega sense of achievement and surprisingly comfortable too.1 point

And as Scott pointed out, you have no read or write access to virtually all the forums technical resources as a none paid member. Though you will get to see a little more as a trial member, when first signing up, this has a thirty day limit. We have a balancing act to perform, between protecting the Clubs content, all held on our own server, which cost the club actual money, and at the same time, holding back the curtain just enough for potential new members to get an idea of what they’re missing. This is also why on our social media pages, like Facebook, we have a very strict no technical posts policy, I am genuinely sorry to those Club members I know we have occasionally upset when we’ve caught them up in that, but it’s there for a very good reason. Our technical pages and responses here on the forum are essentially peer reviewed by a broad, and very knowledgeable club membership. So if you get an answer here to a tech question, you can be so much more confident in the answer.1 point

If you ask in a reasonably adult manner, we have a mechanism where we can make your own previously posted build thread available for you as a lapsed member to view, download, copy etc. We’ve done it a few times for ex members. However, if you start your requests with verbal attacks, abuse against the club etc, then we may not read far enough through the message to find out you were asking for a favour!1 point

If the forum is going to attract traders and sponsors then it needs to be somewhat open, since there are very few new builds progressing and a limited market of potential customers otherwise - I used to get contacted by people from all over the world that had stumbled on threads here in 'tech talk' - those contacts stopped completely when we went to 'member viewing', so it's definitely a tricky balance to strike.1 point

I think I can call this a wrap now. I’ve fitted four 1.5m LED battens, two each side, plus wired up all the sockets I need by the work bench and also to power the Carcoon more conveniently. It is much brighter now, no real shadows and much easier to work in. I know it still looks quite ‘busy’, but I don’t have cash to throw at nice tool chests etc so this is the best I can do, quite pleased with it given where I started back in July. Still some sorting out to do but that can happen over time, have plenty of house projects to be getting on with!1 point
