  1. Yeah fair point @joolz we’re made of sterner stuff up north I guess 😁

  2. And as Scott pointed out, you have no read or write access to virtually all the forums technical resources as a none paid member. Though you will get to see a little more as a trial member, when first signing up, this has a thirty day limit. We have a balancing act to perform, between protecting the Clubs content, all held on our own server, which cost the club actual money, and at the same time, holding back the curtain just enough for potential new members to get an idea of what they’re missing. This is also why on our social media pages, like Facebook, we have a very strict no technical posts policy, I am genuinely sorry to those Club members I know we have occasionally upset when we’ve caught them up in that, but it’s there for a very good reason. Our technical pages and responses here on the forum are essentially peer reviewed by a broad, and very knowledgeable club membership. So if you get an answer here to a tech question, you can be so much more confident in the answer.

  3. I did the Long Way North this year in my 25 year old Zetec Westfield. 740 miles in 3 days. Absolutely loved it. And I'm 70

  5. Yip at 54 and just joined this party. If one of our runs is shorter the 200mls then someone has f***** up and needs shot.

  6. A used pair of JK Composites grp seats arrived last night. Both with seat pads, one with a runner as well. And they have the crotch hole for a 5/6 point harness all of which I was not expecting, so very pleased. With a clean and polish they should look great. Sat in one, blimey, super comfy. Can't wait to replace my Sport Turbo Anniversary seats.

  7. If you ask in a reasonably adult manner, we have a mechanism where we can make your own previously posted build thread available for you as a lapsed member to view, download, copy etc. We’ve done it a few times for ex members. However, if you start your requests with verbal attacks, abuse against the club etc, then we may not read far enough through the message to find out you were asking for a favour!

  9. I admire anyone doing very long trips in cars of this type. Back when I was a student I had a dutton phaeton as my only car, I went everywhere in it. I'm nearly 60 now, that gung-ho spirit has somewhat left me these days 😳🤣

  10. I'd wager you're not a typical 7esque owner though. Many cars out there don't do 200 miles a year never mind in one trip. I don't think anyone is claiming electric sevens will be all things to all men (other genders are available) but it's nice to have another choice potentially on the horizon.

  11. Great news Mark, well look forward to seeing it! ps. See the events section for the next Cheshire and N. Staffs meet - it’s our Christmas Curry at K2H in Sandbach, NOT at the Golden Pheasant!

  14. Good Lord, a man goes away for a few hours and…! I’ll try to reply as best I can. 1) Bear in mind I’m not a committee member and don’t make policy decisions any longer. I help with technical things backstage on odd occasions as I’m retired. That’s it. 2) I refer the Right Honourable Member to the Guidelines we all agreed to when we joined, specifically the last paragraph: ”Content Reuse The Club owns all forum content and reserves the exclusive right to retain, use, re-use and re-publish in part, or whole, material including text and photos, submitted to and hosted by the forum, for the benefit of its members in perpetuity. Such uses may include reposts, links to posts and publication of same in the Club's official magazine. Material posted to forum areas which are available exclusively to club members (such as in Tech Talk or FAQs) may not be disseminated, copied or shared by members outside the club, to other websites or to social media platforms.” However, if a member leaves the club and wishes a copy of their build thread, all they need do is contact the committee and a copy will be made available to them. (I’m fine thank you and hope you are the same. I almost always liked you too and never found you to be boring or lacking an opinion - which is a good thing overall.) 3) I’m not a committee member. 4) Agreed. 5) Did I say I’m not a committee member? 5) You’re not misremembering. I was trying to be brief, but people can join for free as a Trial Club Member for up to 60 days or 50 posts (whichever comes first) to see if the club is a good fit. 6) In case you missed it, I’m not a committee member.

  17. Every single member receives the magazine, it is whether it is received in a digital format or a paper copy that is a choice. on the digital magazine, QR codes and links can be provided to take the member straight to their website, this could be seen as more effective

  22. I can't find any identifying numbers on the 1st one I've opened so not sure which JK model they are but should be able to work it out from the measurements as I have them for all the seats they used to make.

  23. @john777 also please ensure you have your correct postal address in your forum account details as the mag mail list/addressees is generated from this 👍

  24. Yup. This year alone I did 3x multi-day highland trips with most days doing over 300 miles. We will usually do 1200-2000 miles on a tour over 3-5 days. Next year it’s Spain, so plan on more than that! Our local weekend blats are rarely less than 200 miles too. Although it’s a tad more civilised now I have the Exige, it was the same story with the Westy for the previous 9 years. So, for me a car that had a range of under 200 miles (and then needed charging somewhere) would maybe just be usable at the weekend but useless for tours. Thus, I would never even consider one.

  30. It is doing this with classic cars that the DVLA are investigating at the moment with a view to changing the regulations and im sure amateur built cars will be dragged into it.
