  1. Fitted a new cylinder head temp sensor yesterday. Surprised that it’s not in a coolant flow but just sits in the block in a blind hole. No spilt coolant at least or air to bleed. Calibrated it with a thermos of boiling water to check it was doing its job at working temperatures. Was within a degree of the temperature curve in the ECU so I left that as is. Anyway - started and idled like any OEM would. Result 🤙even got a drive out of it in the sunshine. Slightly rusty flywheel to look at now as apparently on a factory assembly engine and gearbox (got the certificate) the is no sandwich plate on the bell housing. Fail. Rust converter and a new plate it is unless the engine comes out for another reason in the future.

  2. I used rubber edging strip. I think it's 7mm deep left over from another job. It definitely won't be seen but it gives it higher standard of finish. Just a geeky level attention to detail which floats my boat

  7. Please read the full listing These have been used to make some tooling . They are FREE to a good home before I bin them . They will need flating down and repainting Due to marks left by the tooling materials Collection is preferred I can send them but postage and packing is £20 and you take 100% of the risk if they get damaged because they are free and I don't need the headache! They will be offered for 1 week then I will bin them !

  8. Sad to say but I need the garage space to work on my westy, So the mini traveller is up for sale. £5,500. H reg 1969 mk2, with sliding windows, remote gearbox and real wood decor on the back. Message in the forum or email markc797@gmail.com. I live in Devon but I have a trailer so could deliver. Solid bodywork with recent new floor, wings and repair panels. Tired paint and a few bits of surface rust but it polishes up well. Interior was next job to be done. Everything works and is used regularly when dry. I spent over £3k on gearbox rebuild and front subfrrame refurb. New tyres, new fuel tank, new front suspension. Very original with drum brakes all round, dynamo positive earth. 97,000 miles first owner from new till 2019 then garage who did bodywork then me. Lots of paperwork, original manual, and heritage certificate. See my rebuild blog on this site for all the details.

  9. Following on from the Feedback re the Awards Lunch, they were a number of people that could not make the 18th, so it's been changed to the 25th January. So please put that in your diaries. Further information and Lunch bookings will be available via the shop as soon as possible. Hope to see as many as possible there.

  10. Agreed. As white as possible and as many as possible. I think I ended up with 12 (6 doubles) strip lights in a 16 x 8 garage and I'd still need a torch every so often. If I'd had more time I'd have put lights on the walls too... I also agree with getting the walls, ceilings and as much else as you can painted white if at all possible. It makes a huge difference.

  12. I fitted 6000K LED tubes to replace warmer (and dimmer) fluorescents. So much better imo. Daylight is quoted as 5500 to 6500K so replicating that for a workspace seems sensible. YMMV
