There are some great photo's there, brilliant, thank you for posting them and your lovely comments. We met at the car museum for breakfast, table for 16. Hey what a great club we are in, Stu turned up with spare gearbox mounts in his pocket for us and advice on how easy a job it is to change them, what a great guy thank you. Parked at our very favourite car museum Dan arrived after the photo's and you can't leave his great car out, so here we go, the full line up of 10 cars Glynn had to wiz off to sunny Spain, leaving the 9 car convoy to trap on through the Peak District. You can really tell the tourists have gone, every road was empty apart from the odd tractor, well 2 actually. The clouds lifted enough so we could enjoy the views, although the sunshine was not coming out to play today. It was quite freezing so Glen decided we needed to go to the warm pub at Hulme End rather than the cafe, thankfully everyone followed me despite this change. Parked at The Manifold Inn Here we are preparing for the humongous Sunday lunches Here is one of the offending items, delicious, we are definitely coming back here. Service was excellent too. I had the 3 Andy's with me and they have a reputation of being hungry, especially for cake, I didn't want to disappoint so off we went to Wetton Tea Rooms, where they bake all their own cakes. Again you could tell the tourists have gone, the car park was empty. I love winter for our Westfield outings, the cars run well and the roads are empty, we operate unhindered. Parked at Wetton Summer Fruits Cake, there's jam and then there's jam, this is Wetton jammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Our Chairman chose well Andy Westwood had the Bakewell Cake, not once but twice, it was that good Unbelievably here is the seconds Tiramisu cake for the other Andy Leaving the other Andy lurking in the background also eating cake but avoiding my lens Fantastic day out, Sue, just remind Glen, is it Saga or Tui for the cruise? good laughs as well as good advice floating across the table. Thanks for coming everyone, see you next time, don't SORN or you will miss all the fun!11 points

Went to see a private car collection yesterday in Glasgow. Amazing to think it's all one man's cars. There must've been £100 million on display yesterday and apparently there are another two storage facilities! They were packed in which meant some pretty special cars were hard to see and they were all in immaculate condition. Sorry its a bit photo heavy.5 points

@Craigieboyi would of had a drive up had I known of such a collection existing. Registered my email incase they do it again some time in the future. Looks like a great day out1 point

Yes the tickets were only £10, but sold out within hours. It was really remarkable, the number of cars combined with their condition was unreal. Never seen a Maclaren Senna before and never will again and the carbon on the Pagani was unreal too. If they do it again I'll definitely try and go back.1 point

I won’t be there it’s my wedding anniversary see you next month1 point

Nope, not happening. Far too busy and the fuel cost would be crippling, we have already both considered that and it's a non starter. If I got up any earlier I'd meet myself going to bed!1 point

Harewood Weekend. (21st – 22nd September) The Harewood September double header event is a sure sign that the Westfield season is approaching its conclusion. The ever-popular venue saw both Saturday and Sunday events oversubscribed with one or two regular Championship competitors unable to gain entries. A total of 9 Championship runners, spread across Classes A,B and F managed to get entries for both days. Saturday revealed an overcast but dry start to the day, this slowly improved as the day unfolded with some autumn sunshine appearing by late morning. The improving conditions encouraged some over ambitious driving throughout the field which led to frequent red flags and subsequent delays. These delays limited the day to two practice and two timed runs. The Westfield contingent largely kept their composure throughout although Mick Dent kept his one indiscretion of the day until just after the finish line and picked up a bit of Harewood vegetation for his troubles. Class A saw a day long tussle between Mark Bishop and Phil Hallington with Phil unable to close on Mark who took the Westfield class. In Class B, Howard Gaskin showed consistent good pace to take the Class from a chasing Mark Claxton. The largest Championship class at the event was Class F with 5 competitors. Dave Banner dominated the class getting to within half a second of the class record. Dave was followed by a close day long battle between Andy Steel, Chris Boyd and Mick Dent who finished in that order. Harry Moody checked out of the event and the weekend with a CV Joint disintegrating on the last corner of the day. Again, a grey sky greeted competitors on Sunday, the greyness staying resolutely throughout the day. The colder track offered little in improving times and a lot in continued red flag incidents. Class A saw a repeat of Saturday’s result with Mark Bishop again heading Phil Hallington on the time sheets. Class B also showed a repeat of the Saturday’s results although both Howard Gaskin and Mark Claxton bucked the trend by recording faster times than the previous day. In Class F Dave Banner again headed the field but Saturday’s battle continued behind him with Mick Dent emerging as the ‘best of the rest’ ahead of Chris Boyd and Andy Steel. Despite the recurring red flag delays the organisers announced a third timed run but as the run got underway the rain arrived and grew so heavy that Class F decided to call it a day and retired to the trailers. Despite some delays and the final weather intervention it was, as usual, an enjoyable weekend on a classic hill, superbly run by BARC … Maybe more than one visit next year??1 point

Thanks for not mentioning my spin during second practice Saturday so I caused one of the red flags.1 point

I know I've covered my early start on another thread, but please forgive me as that run deserves a few more pictures. It was magic 😄 Again I was disappointed not to add this road section onto the end of my NC250 route, but I was beaten by the bad weather and the ferry was off. So an early start was in order, to beat the bikers and campers up past Loch Lomond and through Glen Coe. Just me and my mate in his MK and we hit the road just before 7am. Our route took us North of Fort William on the A82, up to Invergarry where we joined the A87 for the Kyle of Lochalsh. The road climbs out of Invergarry and has magnificent views of Glen Garry and Loch Garry below, sorry no pictures as it was unusually empty and we were having too much fun on the sweeping bends. We've carried on West until Shiel Bridge and the start of Loch Duich, where Eilean Donan Castle is situated and I'm sure you are all aware. We then crossed the Shiel bridge onto an 'old military road' (the Highlands are full of these historic roads), which led us to the Ratagan pass, a road I'd never been on before, but will certainly be back. It was brilliant, great views and again empty as I think it's just enough off the beaten track for people not to know about it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/dZNsg5SgGrUSCqfP7 I could've driven that pass all day, but it had to come to an end at Bernera Beach, that had great views over to Skye. I alway tend to go back over a route once I'm home and this time discovered that there is a large ruined army barracks nearby, hence the old military road. Eventually we made it to the shop and cafe for the ferry, which is all run by locals. We got a very warm and genuine welcome from them which was really nice. The shop is situated higher up the hillside and offers great views of the ferry below and over the short stretch of water to Skye. After buying the obligatory stickers and fridge magnets, we headed down to the pier to await the ferry. The guy in this picture is a Dutch tourist on his first trip to Scotland. He absolutely loved the cars and our scenery and roads. He has a friend with a Donkervoort, that they have taken to the Alps. Once on Skye we headed to Broadford for fuel and then down to Armadale for the Calmac ferry over to Mallaig on the mainland. This is the view over to the mainland with Mallaig just visible. The cars were a big hit whilst waiting for the ferry, with one American over taking about cars and showing me pictures of his Plymouth back home. Once at Mallaig, we headed home via Fort Willam again, but instead of the usual route down Glencoe, we opted for the A828 to Connel Bridge. It is always a much quieter road and is along the coastline. We've then headed to Inveraray, where they do fantastic chips. All in all it was a fantastic run on some new roads that I can recommend 👍 I've done almost 1200mls this week alone and am using the Westy for what it was designed for, putting a smile on my face. Here's to some more adventures, weather permitting. Cheers1 point
