Home now from 2 nights at Newark. The drive down on Friday was grey, but dry. I arrived just in time to help put the marquee up then my tent. BBQ fired up for burgers and beers opened when everything was sorted. Saturday started grey, bacon sarnies all round and soon the sun was out and definitely the best day no matter what the weather apps were saying. Around 35 cars came, with Westfield Avenue gently bending to the right. (Got to keep it straighter for Malvern). Saturday night, the A Team went for pizza, but the fine weather didn't stay. Lightening in the distance, and rain around midnight. The 3 Westfields there were a bit damp the next morning, we should have put them in the marquee, but didn't! Sunday morning was misty and drizzly and it remained like that all day. Not many cars on Sunday, about 7 in total. Breakdown was completed for 1, just in time for the rain to start properly. My journey home was wet, with rain all the way up the A1 and the wipers and indicators not working. Another good weekend with the WSCC, and big thanks to all who came and to @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinatorfor organising. Video of Westfield Avenue on Saturday, can you see your car?9 points

What an awesome day out at Newark kit car show. I must say an absolute big thankyou to everyone one that went and took part in making it happen and to all of the kit companies showing off there new cars. I really enjoyed speaking and meeting Chris for the first time today with his YouTube yellow tiger Avon build. With my car being featured in the videos too. Seeing tigers new R10 car aswell was absolutely stunning in every single way. I’m very sorry I missed Julie and Glen I will see you guys on the next drive hopefully. But yes a big thanks from them for the cakes.5 points

I have done it! so it must be easy. I have ordered my paper copies of the Westfield World magazine, they will continue to be delivered through my letterbox. I clicked on 'STORE' which is on the blue line at the top of the page. There is a box with the magazine on, I clicked it, put it in my shopping cart and, like the good wife that I am😉, I used Glen's Paypal account to pay for it (£18 for 3 copies per year). I will look forward to continue receiving real paper through the post. Remember if you don't do this then you will only get a digital version. Good luck and if you are struggling, post on here and someone much more techno than me will come along and help you.4 points

Everyone seems to "take the ahem" out of my brilliant storage facility. But just look at how useful it's been over 3 days at the Newark show this weekend. 1, camping box, 2, cake table, 3, pizza table, 4, 2 man seat. Other possible uses, Beer table, Hiding bodies, Keeping a small dog in, The list is endless. Where would we be without it?4 points

@Rob Hunter - Club Secretary what a bunch of great photo ! ! ! Love that one : Beside aesthetic of that picture , cant miss the water there... Here in Poland people keep asking me : "what about rain ???" Few years with Westfields and I have never drive in rain. But now I know what I need to answer : "abandon Your car and go under some roof " Really this and rest of the pictures are great! And taken with sacrifice because You was also under that rain.4 points

I needed it. It's what every style icon is wearing. Windscreen wipers and indicators would have been good too.4 points

Massive thank you to @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator for yet another very well organised event. The club stand looked brilliant. It can only look good when it is filled with our member's cars, so thank you to everyone that came and filled Westfield Avenue, especially @Craigieboy and co who travelled all those miles down from Scotland x Thank you to the club committee for providing the cake, days are always better with cake involved. This lady, Clare, is our expert cake cutter What a great job she did Her husband @AndrewBClarke is good at eating it, 2 slices, noted! A rare photo of our car with doors and a roof on,it was tiddling it down when we set off this morning 11, who doesn't love an 11 Inside the hall we admired the Westfield Chesil Ltd stand. A great display put on but we will have to hang in there for a while longer, 2025 sounds like it's going to be a good year to own a Westfield. These are the same vehicle, TIPO, one has the bodywork on and one has it removed for you to inspect what's beneath. Can be used on road or track, imagine one of those in the Peak District, one can dream. Parked with the Derby/Notts red devils x Thanks everyone for the best Newark show yet. Great to see you all, come and see us again at the car museum next Sunday, weather permitting x4 points

I’ve just joined the club this week having put a deposit down on my first Westfield from Toybox. It’s the yellow and black one in their latest video 😍 Really looking forward to owning and enjoying it and reading the threads on this forum has been great. As a new owner what’s the most useful thing to know or buy? Any obscure tools that I should get? I’m in Yarm if anyone is local?3 points

Hi John and welcome. The car looks fab and Toybox have a very good rep. I'm new here too and it's a brilliant group of friendly people to be involved with. The forum has an amazing amount of information within and the technical knowledge here is second to none. I bought a completed car too, but actually found the build threads very informative and let's you know how the cars tick. Like Steve I didn't know where Yarm was either, but realised I wasn't too far away this morning at Scotch Corner! Hope you get some miles in before the weather changes and maybe see you about sometime.2 points

Welcome @John Whyte, I can hand on heart say joining the WSCC after I got my 1st Westie (the Flying Carrot) was probably the best thing I've done in my 11+ years of kit car ownership. You will have fun here! 👍 plus you will learn a lot, for example just now I learned where Yarm is, a place I'd never even heard of before you joined, so thanks for the education 😂2 points

In my first hand experience of four Maxis two of which were owned by my employer at the time, one by a colleague, and one by a relative, there is nothing 'lovely' about a Maxi at any stage of its miserably unreliable life. Good concept, lousy build quality and design details - particularly the gearbox and selector mechanism.2 points

Castle Combe was always one of my favourites and the first Sprint I ever did in a Westfield. A quick track but it always felt relatively safe. Back when it was the first of the season in March it could get a bit cold and even one with snow! appreciate some of the front runners in the speed series had issues with passing noise, but for balance I never had any problems in a road going car. public option of motorsports, noise and the environment are changing so I feel we should all be doing a little bit more to make our race cars quieter to promote a better image.2 points

I can remember that year when it snowed, mind it did that at Croft one year too. Noise has always been a but of a problem at Castle Combe, 2 events are run there a year. Will add it to the "To be considered list" which is really what this is all about. What do we need to offer so more people will join in.1 point

Great pictures, thanks for posting. It appears though that I missed out on some Beer 🍺, was it hidden away when the Scotsmen arrived? 😃1 point

Hi John, welcome to the best club on the circuit from sunny Wolverhampton and Just to make you aware, photos to be posted on here are the law, as soon as you get it 😉 Let us know what the set up, model, engine and any general info and you’re get plenty of support. The forum is also a great place to “search” for tech info for over a decade so post up any questions. I’m also a novice Westy owner having had mine for 15 months, but there is plenty of others in the same boat supported by many that have had years of experience. Hope to see you at one of the events, shows, etc. Good luck with the car & happy Westfielding. 🙏🫶🏼👍1 point

Good point. I’d not thought about that. Dismantling and/or building an Airchamber is not the work of moments!1 point

Well as my first official event, I really couldn't have picked a better one! It was plain to see the effort and organisation that had went into putting it together and I'm sure the envy of all the other clubs there. Many thanks to @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator and everyone else who helped put on such a fantastic display and I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you all. I have enjoyed a very warm welcome here since joining the club in June and it was lovely today to finally put some faces to the names. Thank you to @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative @Rob Hunter - Club Secretary and @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman For extending the warm welcome once again in person. We had a fantastic day and will hopefully make it back down again soon. You can thank us for bringing the good weather down with us later.1 point

I bought it! Drove home 1hr 45min in the dark on the motorway last night which was interesting! Love the car, it does have a few very small niggles which I’m looking forward to addressing once I’ve finished re-concreting my garage. Will post some pics soon, in the meantime this is a bad photo of me stopping for fuel!1 point

It's actually owned by a friend of mine. Allan has taken over 2 years (with huge help from local member Ben Hudson) to convert the car..... The car started life as a 1990's CVH engined (on carbs) SEIW car that had red bodywork and swept wings. It now has full FW bodywork, homemade 50mm wider rear arches, Prodev 2.3 forged and ported Duratec on huge ITB's, custom Lotus Exige instruments, new loom with Emerald K6 engine ECU, rear drums converted to discs, upgraded to alloy hubs, big brake kit on the front, lightweight flywheel, competition paddle clutch etc etc etc. A few other local members have also helped Ben and Allan in the background too. I've helped a little too, mainly as a "phone a friend" occasionally and been an extra pair of hands when getting the engine fitted. A real labour of love, it's a stunning motor that was only finished a few weeks ago. Hopefully Allan will be joining the club soon and we will get more photos of the car 👍1 point

It's fall here in Montana which means it can be 65° and sunny (like when I took these photos a few days ago) or it can be 30° and snowing like it is today. We've gotten a foot (30 cm) so far and it's still coming down. That makes the memory of taking these sunset photos a few days ago all the more special. The snow will melt in a few days and it will be time for a cool weather blat before real winter arrives. dave1 point
