  1. I bought it! Drove home 1hr 45min in the dark on the motorway last night which was interesting! Love the car, it does have a few very small niggles which I’m looking forward to addressing once I’ve finished re-concreting my garage. Will post some pics soon, in the meantime this is a bad photo of me stopping for fuel!

  2. Thought I’d do a quick comparison of before and after. This is 15months of ownership and counting & only the bits you can see! 😝

  7. Had an impromptu overnight camp on the Isle of Skye last night, what with the terrible weather this year, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. 510mls of fun 😊. The scenery was stunning.

  8. Success! Stu’s patented Easy Slide Carcoon Access Pulley Erection, or ESCAPE is up and running!! 🤣🤣 I’ve been planning this one in my head for a few years now (!) and have finally been able to get it sorted. Basically it’s just two tensioned wires with three pulleys each side connecting to the loops on the top of the Carcoon. This makes things much easier in that I can collapse the bubble and it remains supported and can be slid either to the front or the back of the garage so it is out of the way. Much quicker and easier, and also inflates more quickly too 👍

  12. How's the weather looking down there? We had planned to travel down to Doncaster tomorrow and then attend the show on Sunday. Though after looking at the forecast, we've decided just to travel straight down and attend on Saturday instead.

  16. I meant to post those earlier in the week, but then forgot. When it comes to the lights, if you're happy with mounting them, I'd suggest the type of lights that go into suspended ceilings. I use them in my garage, and I've people walk in and ask where I got the light tubes from! I can grab a more recent photo of you'd like, but the below is from when I was at a similar stage to you, only I hadn't built my racking or work bench at this point. They give a good spread of light, and as they're not a tube, I find they help reduce shadows. Having a thoroughly ok-lit garage will be easier to work in than one with a few really bright lights but loads of shadows. With 9 of the panels (switched in 4's, front and back, with a single over my workbench) means it's always well lit. They were a reasonable price at the time, maybe £20-25 each, given that I didn't have any fittings to buy. If you do stick with LED tubes, don't forget to dust them from time to time. It's amazing how much the light output can reduce from a little coating of dust.

  17. Hi, A few of us are meeting at Donington Services for a 9am departure (M1 Junction 23A, Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2TN) for a convoy up to Newark. We will be cutting cross country to Willoughby (sadly not the Holly variety) before the boring bit on the A46. If you are going that way, feel free to tag along 👍

  21. Said it already, looks fantastic and a good bit more aggressive. The carbon really makes a difference. If I continue in the same fashion for 15mths I'll be bankrupt and divorced!

  25. I’ll put my hand up and say that I’m one of those people quite interested in the idea of taking part in the speed series. The two biggest reasons for me holding back are highlighted by @Two7 above - I live in the south west and taking a look at the schedule it would mean a lot of time and travelling, and there would be a lot of events that I just wouldn’t be able to get to because of the time commitment it would entail. I also have a standard kit - I love the car but I know it just wouldn’t be able to compete. I would definitely enjoy taking part though, so maybe the ‘most improved’ trophy would be a good idea, something a bit like the Jack Sears trophy in the BTCC, something that I could realistically aim at. Some decent tracks down this way, particularly Castle Combe and Llandow spring to mind.

  31. This is such a similar story to when I bought my Lotus Exige. I so wanted to just buy it despite it having a bit of hesitation on full throttle. But my mate who, I wisely chose to be my anchor man, said “no, walk away until it’s fixed. Otherwise you could be chasing this ‘easy fix’ for months and many £££” It was just a case of new plugs and I have been a very happy owner for over a year now 👍 Wise move!
