Since the wife is out at a show, and I finally have an evening with nothing else pressing to do for once, an hours blatting round the little back roads soon cleared some cobwebs. I may even put this forward for the calendar, although I do wish I had been a minute ot two faster getting to this spot, as the sun would've been full.7 points

There has been a steady decline in numbers of competitors in the WSCC Speed Series over the years and the SSOT has been considering what to do to change things to make it once more an attractive series to be in. in 2024 we opened the Championship up to all 7' type cars to try and increase the competition, but there has not been a great take up off this. So to endeavour to bring more people in we are re-launching the series under the name 7's Speed Series. To find out more please read the enclosed PDF explaining the changes. We hope you will get on board with this and that 2025 can be a more successful year. 7s SS draft Sept 24.docx.pdf3 points

Cheers mate, just a pity your not on the committee 😂 Have I wetted your appetite, for next year? Thought tbh the weather has a mind of its own, I just got lucky. Still amazed at the reaction the wee car gets, I was mobbed at the ferry terminal. Honestly I was answering 5 peoples questions and more were queuing up to ask and its all positive too. Must be good to get out in a group like the other areas do and I can only imagine the reaction a group of Westies get.2 points

Thanks for your suggestions, which are appreciated. 1) getting the balance of the venues has always been a problem with ours and any other Championship. Caused to some extent where the venues actually are. So the Midland Hillclimbs of Prescott, Shelsley and Loton being to the west and none to the east of the country. But also Sprints being so spread out, with few in the centre. We are planning on seeing where the interested competitors are based and try and support those customers, with geographically close events if we can. 2) That's a sensible idea which needs exploring further 👍 Thanks2 points

That concerns me a bit to. Seems fine at anything above 30. But slow running and the temp seems to slowly climb.... Still, i'll give it a go. 🤞2 points

It was parked, but I did worry about getting it back out without going sideways into the hedge!2 points

Nick have you not thought about Castle Coomb as the midland championship boys come down to Gurston so I would have thought Coomb would be a little nearer for most ?1 point

Yes please, the more feedback from as many people as possible will be really appreciated, this Championship will only work if competitors want to be part of it. Good points re Blyton & Anglesey and the SSOT have picked that up. Your last sentence is very much what we want to achieve, 15 years ago there were 120 competitors in the Championship and whilst we may not get back to those numbers, were certainly need to achieve higher number than currently to make it a success.1 point

I think it is important that as much feedback is given as soon as possible particularly around the venues and the actual number of events, then the Committee can pull together the programme. Anglesey and Blyton are in recent years the most popular events so my personal view is that these should form the core. It is debatable whether we want a large number of events which geographically may provide more accessible venues or whether a small number of rounds that participants can focus on lets say 8 meetings, The latter option may encourage a higher turnout at these events. I believe the overall objective is to increase the number of regular entrants as there is nothing worse than travelling hundreds of miles to find you are the sole class entrant1 point

you could regret saying that, lunch was taken on top of Snowdon 😮 but I get what you’re saying and yes it would be lovely to see you. We talked to Matt Baker on top of Snowdon, they were filming, a farm is up for let on snowdon and they were interviewing potential farmers. It’s on TV early next year, channel 4 I think.1 point

This is such a similar story to when I bought my Lotus Exige. I so wanted to just buy it despite it having a bit of hesitation on full throttle. But my mate who, I wisely chose to be my anchor man, said “no, walk away until it’s fixed. Otherwise you could be chasing this ‘easy fix’ for months and many £££” It was just a case of new plugs and I have been a very happy owner for over a year now 👍 Wise move!1 point

Sounds like we may have a few SEight's 😀 i you notice somebody lurking around your cars, it'll be me looking for ideas/inspiration 😊1 point

There are some pics in a previous sale thread from Ash: I got Ash to clear coat them to have them in show quality. No regrets, beautiful pieces.1 point

In my experience, if a block has become porous or has a crack, it leaks after it’s warmed up as the block / crack expands. A core plug will expand as it heats up, getting tighter in the block. While changing a core plug is generally not difficult and a core plug is cheap (plus cost of fresh coolant), it rather depends on which one it is (there’s more than one) and what might be in the way of accessing it to change it. You might well have to remove an exhaust header or ancillary, or need access to a ramp, in order to get at it. Well done on doing comprehensive research before buying.1 point
