Afternoon everyone, thanks for all the advice and feedback It’s been a busy couple of weeks since I posted but ultimately I bought the car… possibly a decision of the heart more than the head, but of what I have seen up to that point it seemed to be about right given the parts list and spec which fitted the bill of what I was looking for with most of the components. (I will now avoid the cars for sale section and autotrader like the plague for fear of seeing something better for the money!! Haha) luckily I’d seen the Facebook advert before I went down and managed to begin the conversation from the £12.5k price and managed to work the viewing and collection well with a visit to family and the purchase of a car trailer along the way! It looks like a really tidy initial build with very neat wiring from some of the others I've seen, and the engine is of a good spec with reasonable upgrades although the paperwork trail wasn’t complete there was information on the cams and some receipts from Dunnell and Burton along with a dyno (all be it a few years old now) showing 197 BHP @ the fly wheel – which I do take with a pinch of salt but at least shows the work that has gone into it. The car drives well, and having got the carbs set up runs superbly now. I don’t think the car has seen much use since it was sold to the owner before this one, the front tyres are 2015 dated and well-treaded. Having had a short stint on a track with it I have also discovered that the header tank pressure cap was faulty as the coolant bubbled over as discovered from the hot dripping on my leg! 😅 A quick fix with a new cap seems to have resolved the issue but also shows that the car probably hasn’t been driven hard in recent times being that I managed to do that on one of my first proper outings! It could do with some TLC in places with a few chips in the gelcoat and some crazing on the bonnet; I’m hoping I can get these tidied up easily enough as they are all on removable panels (bonnet / arch) but ultimately they don’t affect the drivability; which is great and puts a smile on my face! I’ve got a list of things to keep my busy over the winter which is also good, including figuring out why the speedo isn’t working (although the mileage does display the speed & mileage don’t register) and the water pump which does come out at an angle so I imagine that it’s circulating the wrong way which won’t help as noted above. Thanks again Andy5 points

I'm pretty sure the car was built by a father and son and was the second westfield they built and something they wanted to do together before I think it was the son that passed away but of course if I'm wrong I stand corrected. The car had all the right parts fitted money was no object nice brakes shocks diff even the engine was a brand new crate motor and was a lovely looking car when they finished it and it's still a lovely looking car but make checks on the chassis for cracks they are a big heavy engine so check the engine bay and around the diff cage and also the engine mounts .if you need to know where to look just ask I do like a v8 probably the best sounding westfield And they move well.4 points

^^^ what he said… £13k is strong money for a silvertop on carbs. It would need to be in exceptional condition to be worth that in my view. There’s plenty of choice, take your time and take an expert (if possible) with you. Those who know these cars, know what to look for (water pump being a good example!) It looks like it has a Raceline exhaust which might suggest engine mods (required for claimed bhp on carbs). You mention driving without a screen- that’s no issue as the aeroscreen should work well BUT I would always recommend wearing a helmet in a caged car.2 points

Great info thanks I wasn't aware that the 13's were no longer produced! When I got in touch with him there were a few other engine mods that he hadn't listed; I take the 185 with a pinch of salt I was hoping for something with north of 160bhp and an LSD so it should fit the bill there 🙂 I'm a decent bit under 6 foot - in fact I'm hoping they haven't been lowered or I may need to bring a cushion with me! 😅2 points

Welcome! The odometer part of electronic speedo is ridiculously common and entirely believable. Looks to be a tidy, well specc’d car from the photos. It also falls under the Westfield Truisms list: #22: The Westfield you really want to buy will inevitably be at the farthest geographical point away from your home, ie. you live in Aberdeen and the car you want to buy is in Cornwall. And after you get it: #23: When you buy your Westfield and arrive to drive it home, the weather forecast of bright sunshine will instantly change to thunderstorms, pouring rain, hail, and ten degrees colder. Good luck!2 points

I've just revised this listing, and it's now just the car for sale. I've all the bits still but will be selling them seperately on here over the next couple of days. The car for sale is the one running on black CXR's with 215 and 195 Avon ZZS on them. Just £13,000 gets you this supremely competitive machine that has had pretty much every component feature upgraded/or rebuilt during my ownership mostly by NMS. My season has now ended, and so has my time of Westfield ownership. I'm offering for my sale my well known and very well put together SEIW offering 444 bhp per tonne. Car has finished in 2nd place twice in the MSC and at the time of writing currently leads class 2B and is a hugely capable car. Massive spec on this I'll give the basics here but more than willing to go over the final details over Tea/Coffee etc with the buyer. As lists are boring to type and I'd rather tell you about them in person. Powered by 250 hp. C20XE Exon Race Engine (Rebuilt last year at huge cost) Running Jenvey Throttle bodies and OMEX 600 management. Mated to 5 speed Quaife Straight Cut Dog box. Mated to Cosworth LSD running 4.7 diff. Full IRS, with GAZ adjustable suspension. Westfield AP Racing Front brakes with CL RC5 pads. (Super stoppers) Rears Hi Spec running Mintex M1144 pads. Fuel tank is a tiny 1 gallon ARH with Facet lift, ARH swirl pot and Bosch main pump. Sitting is performed by a single Carbon Tillet seat and not falling out harnesses made by those good thinking people at TRS. Further not falling out protection provided by a Caged laser powder coated Cage with FIA certificate. FIA kill switch and flip up ignition gets things started through a Jack Webb motorsport Lithium Ion battery that weighs less than my work shoes. body work has light weight Nose cone and Bonnet from Mr Aspden, flared carbon NV Arches, Carbon NV front Aero wings and a Rear Diffuser also made by Mark. rear boot is carbon fitted with Quick release fixings. That's about it really, time for me to move onto a new challenge, I've spent thousands on this project so you don't have to, most of the components have been refurbished/replaced upgraded its a fast hugely capable car and would love to see it go onto a new home of competition again, but easily turned back into a long range car again if needed. That's it! Oh wait a price for all of the above just in case you missed it just 13k gets you a ready to race car that is road legal. Car has mostly been tinkered with by NMS at huge cost to myself but it works superbly now and an amazing car from the one I initially bought. Talk to me on 07970162972, then come and take it away. Cheers for getting this far on the reading. Also I'm happy to split things up don't feel you have to buy the trailer as well as all the other bits. But the trailer is worth a grand everyday of the week a super rare item but if you don't need it just say. Cheers.1 point

I hate plumbing with a passion. Working in cramped conditions, a plethora of slightly incompatible pipe sizes and fitting styles, the inevitable unavailability of fittings with the right connections and angles on them, the need for weird tools that you never have and awful clean ups afterwards, especially if you did something wrong. Plus there's jobbies involved. I remember once testing a toilet flush valve that I'd just installed, forgetting that I'd disconnected the waste water pipe for access. Shouting "No, no, stop, stop" at a flushing toilet achieves absolutely nothing 🥺 I much prefer house electrics, even when you take into account the slight risk of death.1 point

I actually enjoy a bit of plumbing, the only issue is having all the right bits to hand. Usually involves a rushed visit to Screwfix mid job.1 point

Brilliant, what a difference a coat of paint makes. Much more brighter and welcoming. Well done 👏1 point

That might be true. It also might not be true. Only one needs to be replaced. The other ones can be replaced at your leisure over the winter. In the meantime, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it, just get out and drive it.1 point

Y Yes, I went to see the car on Sunday. It was in great condition, just a couple of small jobs to do. I’ve agreed a price in principle but need to shuffle some money and return in a couple of days for a dry test drive!1 point

Hi Andy, take your time. Do some homework,13k is a lot of money. If in the future you want injection its a big thing. Looks a lovely well looked after car. I'm happy with mine, but if id have done more homework and not been as pig-headed. I may have taken a different path. Great fun though.1 point

Yeah, going backwards it's less efficient at moving the water around. Mine had been running with the wrong pump for a few years before I got it and corrected it. It's not had any issues from it, but it did have some other plumbing issues like the bypass output being piped straight to the rad so the engine always struggled to get warm in the first place.1 point
