Yeah, lots about this, but it's a lot of fuss about nothing really. No cases in the UK that I'm aware of. It's an inherent flaw in the boxer engine, as the heads are sideways in a long sweeper at high revs the oil doesn't drain back to the sump as fast. The general consensus is to overfill it by a litre, which I noticed mine was from the factory. The cases on YouTube are all American, most on hot days running the standard 0w-20 oil, and most had uprated tyres and were creating more Gs in the corners. The warranty also doesn't specifically say you can't use it on track, but does say you can't use it in competition, our terms are possibly different. I'm keeping an eye open for a larger capacity oil pan, as that's probably the neatest peace of mind, less intrusive than a dry sump setup, or accusump. Porsche circumnavigated the issue by fitting some sort of dry sump style system to most of the boxer engines.3 points

🤣🤣 I wish! In terms of weight saving, the big items were the alloy bellhousing, 13” cxr rims, lithium ion battery, jk seats (not as light as carbon though!), carbon bits (dash, aeroscreen, cycle wings), alloy uprights and hubs, wilwood calipers, digital dash (replaced 5-6 gauges and lost a big chunk of wiring) and no screen/wiper/heater gubbins.2 points

It's a GR86 actually! I'd say the handling is better, but point to point on twisties the Westfield will probably be faster due to weight / mechanical grip... but I'm someone who sees a clear divide between handling and road holding, where many seem to lump them together. It's probably one of the most balanced things I've ever driven, it's playful and you can feel whats going on. There is pretty much no sound deadening so its a bit basic / raw for some, but we've all got Westfields so comparatively its luxury... I've taken it to Snetterton and Spa, and its Angelsey this weekend. They had very good press reviews! Chris Harris liked it plus won a few awards in general motoring press. Here is me being a hooligan at Spa!2 points

After a rough start into ownership we got our first run out in the Westie up Hartside Pass. Having never driven anything like this and coming from high power hatches ( 500 BHP RS3, TTRS, 570 BHP Golf R ), I have got to say I'm hooked! This thing is simply mind blowing in every sense. It gets so much attention everywhere we go, loads of people taking photo's of it. We also bought the trailer and track wheels, so we will be hoping to get on track to learn how to drive it properly, because this thing re writes what's possible in the twisty's. A couple of photos captured by a photographer. I will hopefully bump in to some of you out and about, but I'm not sure there are many Westie owners in Carlisle.2 points

Watch out for the next edition of CKC! Jack Wood, owner of CKC was at Toybox today doing a magazine feature. Huge thanks to all the members who came along, hopefully you will get your faces and/or cars in the mag 👍 I'll do more of a write up in Westfield World, but Jack seemed to enjoy his test drive of one of Andrews cars (a stunning grey FW) and took loads of photographs of the cars and the new Toybox premises. A couple of photos I took of the car Jack tested, its a real stunner! I volunteered to take Jack for a spin in my MegaS2000 as he hadnt been in a Honda powered car..... Those that know me will appreciate that I had to give it the full berries! I think his face tells a story 😂 A fun couple of hours, thanks to Andrew, Dale, Roscoe and Natalie for your hospitality 👍1 point

Toyota are also receiving a lot of flak lately for the engine that is prone to oil starvation in cornering, especially on track days, resulting in engine seizures. This has been exacerbated by them not only offering track days to owners but also then denying engine warranty claims by interrogating the car’s ECU and GPS to determine if the car was on a track at the time of failure and claiming warranty terms prohibit using the car on a track! YouTube is full of vids about it.1 point

Yip, partly the reason I got rid of mine. I went everywhere at warp speed, something had to give before I lost my licence or worse.1 point

Yup, although it has still only done 4,000 miles (rolled over this weekend). - It is nice booking a track day and not worrying (too much) about the weather. I'm a fair weather Westfielder. It’s basically the next generation, the same basic platform, with a lot of shared parts, but stiffer, and generally improved and refined a bit. the 2.4 has much better torque delivery than the old 2.0. it’s not what I'd call fast, but that's not what it is about. Oh, and the back seats are cosmetic only! In terms of BRZ, we never got the 2nd gen BRZ here, but it’s basically a badge engineering exercise, with a few trim differences and things like different maps and minor suspension changes. Most of the parts underneath say "Subaru". The 2nd gen cars are closer in design, I think the Toyota variant looks better. It's a shame all UK stock is gone. The initial batch sold out in 90 minutes of going on sale, and they subsequently bought a second batch over for those already on the waiting list. EU safety regs ruled out any more over here. Should help residuals though! A real shame as they released this for the Japanese / American market. Colours match my Westie, and it comes with nice brembos all round. 🤤1 point

Due to house renovation I've not really had the Westfied out in 3 years, it was buried behind 70 square metres of reclaimed parquet floor, and a kitchen... I got it MOT'd a couple of months back but the landscaping side has dominated most of the summer. I finally got it out and had a bit of a run this weekend. changed the rear brake pads, restuck the numberplate, re-aligned the headlights, welded (badly) the rattling heat shield. I've missed it!1 point

15 cars met at Whitworth Terrace Cafe and it was great to see so many faces that we haven't seen for a while, and lovely to see our regulars too of course. We had a good chat on the terrace. Very difficult to photograph so many cars with stupid lamp posts in the way but here we are in the Whitworth car park We had a special visitor with us today (thanks Lee B), here is Natalia (and Froggy hiding behind her back) with her car, a wonderful young lady full of enthusiasm, she loves cars and going to car shows with her friend Bobby, thanks to her dad for filming us as we left x Allan bought his Westfield out that has been refurbished to exacting standards and now contains a 2.3 Duratec engine. It was an absolute stunner and he was deservedly proud to show it to us all, WOW. We set off on our run out, straight through Bakewell which had EMPTY roads! then off onto the quiet lanes and up high for great views, this took us to The Cow Shed. Those that had not followed my directions were already there waiting for us, hey ho, Wormhill will be there for another day. The roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were eaten al fresco We needed sweet treats next so we dropped down to the Yondermann The Rocky Road was popular @aeg missed out, just sayin' Belgian Chocolate, plus it contained Crunchie pieces, oh my Don't worry Glen, there are no fingerprints on that roll over bar, I am better trained than that Thank you to everyone for coming today, it's been just fabulous to see you all. The roads were quiet, the sun was warm and the cars ran well. For those that are not at Silverstone next weekend, it is a Bank Holiday and we will be out avoiding the tourist hot spots, see you then!1 point

My first run out since last September 🙁 and what a great run it was 😀a measly 116 miles for me, but considering my car was driven 5 miles for an mot and not been touched since last year it did everything I expected, thanks Julie and Glen for bringing us all together, hopefully see you all next weekend 👍1 point
