  1. Evening all, I’m new to the group and I have an MK Indy, would love to come along if that’s ok. I’m from penistone in sheffield if anyone is local. Thanks. Dan

  2. This sign, propped up against a skip outside someone’s house: The unknowing might find this amusing, but the truth is always weirder: > The home owner is genuinely crackers. Not eccentric, crackers. Not enough to be a danger to anyone, even himself, or to get professional help but he’s still playing hockey with a warped puck. He genuinely believes there’s a Viking ship under his basement floor. > The main problem with the theory is that we’re about 150 miles inland and the area was last flooded by sea water during the Ice Age, just a smidgen before the Vikings showed up.

  6. Made it over to this last Sunday, it's a really nice morning meet although getting bigger, met Ian there too. As long as it's dry there is loads of parking, although it's in a field. Hopefully make it on the 15th Sept too.

  7. All my photos are taken with my smartphone, admittedly it's the expensive S23 Ultra but nothing out of the ordinary. The sensor and lens technology in modern phones are really superb, they have so many settings that you probably don't even know are there. I'm still playing around with different angles and settings..... lots don't work! 😂 Here's a few extra ones. Love this one I took of a Lola T70 at Donington A couple of recent shots at Toybox Ferrari 246SP (one of only 6 ever made) I spotted at Donington Again at Donny of a 1954 Lister Bristol Amusing one of someone praying at the racecar altar 😂

  9. Hi! The car popped up on my Facebook Marketplace feed this morning as I'm located reasonably close to it. Buy it via that platform and save yourself £500 😉

  10. Meet at The Whitworth Centre cafe, Darley Dale, DE4 2EQ at 10am for breakfast. We will take a run out and will possibly go to The Cow Shed for lunch, depending on how the route works out. This is weather dependant, it's looking ok at the moment but it is only Monday! Hoping Glynn has got at least 1 seat replaced in his car, we promise not to run off with one this weekend😄 Who is coming?

  11. Can’t comment on the Great British Motor Show, but the Haynes museum is well worth a visit - see if you can find the Westfield 11….

  13. The two regulars from your direction are @Jakejmagee and @Chris Emm but Jake is working this weekend and Chris is swanning about in France. But you will definitely meet some of us in the Peaks!!

  14. Forcast looks good for this weekend so I'll be heading to Hook Norton for their monthly car show https://www.hooky.co.uk/hooky_events/hook-norton-classics-at-the-brewery-august-2024/ Great beer (to bring home) and nice cars, what better way to spend a Sunday morning 😀

  15. Welcome @Dan1501 you and your MK Indy will be more than welcome at the Peak run. @Jakejmagee isn't far from you, if I recall correctly. He's got a Tiger!

  16. I think for most (?) of us the compromise is us having the Westfield in the first place - anything extra edging towards "taking the proverbial" territory...

  22. Naturally! Lego House was enjoyed more by the girls (6 & 2) though I feel, and was where I saw this lovely old Volvo. Week in Billund and week in Copenhagen. It's been super. Denmark is lovely.

  23. ^^^ what he said… £13k is strong money for a silvertop on carbs. It would need to be in exceptional condition to be worth that in my view. There’s plenty of choice, take your time and take an expert (if possible) with you. Those who know these cars, know what to look for (water pump being a good example!) It looks like it has a Raceline exhaust which might suggest engine mods (required for claimed bhp on carbs). You mention driving without a screen- that’s no issue as the aeroscreen should work well BUT I would always recommend wearing a helmet in a caged car.

  24. Hi Andy, take your time. Do some homework,13k is a lot of money. If in the future you want injection its a big thing. Looks a lovely well looked after car. I'm happy with mine, but if id have done more homework and not been as pig-headed. I may have taken a different path. Great fun though.

  25. Happy to report that my replacement LED drivers (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09QH3HB8K) did the job. Can dim between 4% and 100% and 25% seems to be the right level 👍 Thanks again for helping me find the right one 🍻

  26. This company can supply a replacement screen kit for the Speedo. A few members have done a write up about it.

  29. Yeah, going backwards it's less efficient at moving the water around. Mine had been running with the wrong pump for a few years before I got it and corrected it. It's not had any issues from it, but it did have some other plumbing issues like the bypass output being piped straight to the rad so the engine always struggled to get warm in the first place.

  30. Great info thanks I wasn't aware that the 13's were no longer produced! When I got in touch with him there were a few other engine mods that he hadn't listed; I take the 185 with a pinch of salt I was hoping for something with north of 160bhp and an LSD so it should fit the bill there 🙂 I'm a decent bit under 6 foot - in fact I'm hoping they haven't been lowered or I may need to bring a cushion with me! 😅

  32. That was an eventful days racing........ First race run didn’t go to plan with an ‘off’ that caused some (understatement…) mechanical issues that weren’t fully apparent until we’d pushed back up to the top: Broken spoke Broken rear mech Bent chain Deflated tyre Still, she’d managed to complete the run to get a time on the board. So with not much time to get the bike fixed before the second race run the team (me a mate & his wife!) jumped into action! With Darren sorting a tube out for the deflated tyre (spoke through the rim tape….), Alison gave me a lift home to fetch a spare rear mech, cable and other bits if needed – I didn’t have a spare chain though… So with tyre fixed, rear mech fitted and chain straightened as best we could, she made it just in time for category start – great effort, thank you so much guys!! Second run went a lot better but still taken as a ‘safe’ run due to the slightly dodgy chain and ‘roughly’ set up gears. Still finished with a 2nd place, but a fair way back due to the cautious run. So this week I will be mostly buying new parts, some spares and fixing a bike.......

  34. The most recent and final photo of my car whilst on my property, Andy has purchased the car and is already a member, he will be posting stuff as and when. Very sad to see the car go, but with all my medical issues going on I simply am unable to get in and out of it. The Herald is it's replacement and I will carry on with my garage build posts when my skin issues get better, darn seasonal reactions to pollen sets me off really badly , with my face swelling up and causing my eyes to close , it's taken me 15 mins to type this , lol, with my half an eye open... anyway less of my complaints and hope everyone has a great summer in the cars and I will remain a member going forward. Goodbye Westy you were fantastic.
