  1. Not sure where to go exactly so I’ll start here. Just joined, just heard about WSCC. Building an XI, saw them at the Portland historic races and fell in love. Worked thru Tom McClintock at Manik in Texas and got the ‘original’ v8 XI body and a bunch of Miata parts. That didn’t work very well so I started over and ordered a whole new kit from Tom, musta been right been right before Manik went TU. Took delivery in ‘22, spent the next 2 years in the hospital, lost my wife to cancer, and started my build about a month ago. I do have some technical questions ; steering, suspension, etc, if someone could direct me to the correct forum. Please. Looking forward to it. If there's anyone in the PNW or specifically Portland Oregon, I’d love to get together.

  2. Welcome to the forum @PNWesty. Sounds like you’ve been through the ringer a bit, hopefully you are coming out the other side now. There is a dedicated section for X cars on the forum, so best to post your questions there. We love pictures, so please do post some up, or start a build thread so people can help out as you go. https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/forum/79-x-cars/ Stu

  4. Siliconed some bolts in place that fit the holes in the mesh so the mesh slot over the top of them and then just put a nut on. Not 100% happy with the fit just yet so many end up re fitting them.

  7. I also visited the Lambo factory in the late 1990’s, before the Audi takeover. All very relaxed, and I was allowed to wander about and take some snaps. A few years later, back in the UK, I bought a used Diablo in a unique light blue colour, and when re-visiting the snaps from my factory trip, found some showing that very car on the production line. A very happy coincidence!

  10. Brilliant Ian, thanks. I'll have a read at that later. If/ when we do go, Lambo will be a deffo as the Miura was my poster car when I was a boy.

  12. Hi All, just a reminder about the breakfast run to the Chalet at Cowfold this Sunday. I'm letting the Kent team determine timings as I suspect there are more of them but assume leaving Guildford area about 8:00am. f anyone wants to tag along with me, my normal route passes Newlands Corner, Holmbury St Mary, A24, Buck Barn & Cowfold. Those who can't make this Sunday, we should be doing it again in 2 weeks on 25th as well

  13. We did both Ferrari musuems and Pagani last year - see here- Pagani, you only need to allow a few hours unless you book the factory tour in advance. We did both Ferrari musuems easily in a day. (seperate locations- Modena and Maranello, about 20km apart) - you can buy the tickets together from their website. We didn't go in the Lamborghini museum, just parked outside on our way out of Modena as we'd got a long drive ahead. A car friend who's visited suggests it's not as good as ferarri given they've not got the same racing pedigree as Ferarri etc. We'd not be driving that far into Italy again! too hot, poor roads, traffic etc. The dolomites and around Lake Garda is much better in a Westie. We didn't actually drive from Modena to Ferarri due to traffic and very wet weather, so missed the opportunity of a photo outside the Ferarri factory etc.

  15. 9 cars met at the car musem and parked in the overflow car park to keep the scooters happy. I was parked in formation but someone Mr Bagpuss decided my handbrake needed tickling, revenge was had later!😮😁twice Breakfast at the museum, where we are made so very welcome, they love us coming and we love to come @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO trying to earn brownie points, with 3D printed parts, so my revenge is not too harsh With the scooters gone the next batch of cars arrive, DeLorean's and Supercars Parked in our favourite spot, an Alpha Romea Giulietta Spider (I googled that, I can't spell it😃) We went on our run out, got a few spots of drizzle as we glanced Buxton and arrived at Cupola cafe warm and dry. We had made good progress, had good views and enjoyed the country roads off the tourist route. Cupola's owner came out to greet us and counted us before scurrying inside to sort a table out for 13 people, we were treat like royalty. Parked at Cupola Inside Cupola The food is excellent quality there and is cooked right in front of you Meatballs are pure beef and not silly sausage meat Jake guarding my car just in case there is any mischeif with my handbrake Parked at Cupola Someone has to park separately, just like last week🫠. Watch out for steering wheel thieves, my revenge was taken not once but twice, it's like taking candy from kids After a fantastic lunch, the desire for sugar kicked in, so 4 left turns later and we arrived at Quackers Cafe When in Bakewell, eat Bakewell slices, made in the bakery on the premises, do I have to tell you how nice it is😋 That was the end of the day for some. For us, Glynn had selflessly offered to let me try his seat out in my car before we decided what style to buy, so we followed Glynn home. I now have Glynn's passenger seat as my driver's seat. How kind is that of Glynn? Here is the result view from the rear shows how much higher the new seat is when we got home we made sure the half hood still fitted, and it does baby quackers left in my car, I suspect a cat has been playing again Which just about sums up the day, a jolly good laugh, lots of fun with some serious driving too, food not bad either, THANK YOU everyone for making it happen xxxxxxxxxxx

  16. Wow, that is a great looking car. It’s just like my current car, but with all of the upgrades that I am planning to do over the coming years already fitted! The right colour too…. A couple of quick questions: 1. What is the mileage and origin of the engine? 2. What is the build history of the car, home built, factory? Many thanks

  17. When the wife goes away I always have big plans for what I'm going to do but I always end up catching up on rubbish TV, and eating stuff that I'm not allowed to eat when she's at home. Then I try to do everything on the last day and tidy up the house 😕 D
