  1. Best David Attenborough voice… ”And here we find “The Wench”, a Westfield SEi in Post Office Red, now recovered from her recent mechanical maladies and looking resplendent in her full plumage, displayed in her frequent natural habitat, the country pub, after a spirited blat.” It’s times like these when I fall in love with her all over again. 🥰

  5. The weather was fantastic which means only one thing.... loads of cars. What a fabulous turnout we had, sitting in the sunshine with 12 kits and Dels TR6 in the car park! Over 20 of us on the picnic benches (it was far too hot to sit in our normal upstairs room....), we even had three lovely, well behaved dogs come along too 😂 We were joined for the first time by Ady and Lisa who have just bought a lovely Zetec Westfield and joined the club. Welcome to you both, hope you enjoyed the evening 👍 A few snaps of the beautiful cars....

  6. Just a smartphone shot for me I’m afraid. Winston tucked back in the garage after finishing the new roof. Plenty to do before he is back in permanently, not least painting the walls and floor and cleaning his Carcoon.

  7. Years ago a mate of mine was finishing off a half built Dutton Sierra and it was taking him so long that he bought one of those to tide him over till it was finished. I helped him with a lot of stuff on them. I spent a couple of days helping him to fit the windscreen on the Sierra; the aperture wasn't quite the right shape and it took a lot of creative swearing to get it in. At the end I wasn't sure that it wouldn't just pop out at the first speed bump. He was still running about in it (and trying to finish the Sierra) when I lost contact with him about 20 years ago. D

  12. Was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, the asbestos corrugated roof was replaced with a steel one which looks much better and is weather proof. What is currently driving me crazy is that every time I’m working in the garage, one or more pigeons are landing and walking over the roof, making a racket. I’ve got a pole I use to bash on the underside of the roof to frighten them away. i also have a neighbour whose eight year-old son is football mad, and if one his errant kicks lands his football on the roof, the noise inside the garage is incredible. Disappointingly, I’m told I can’t use the same pole on the eight year-old. Pity.

  18. How many of you have just winced at the term 'Christmas'?? And yes - NOVEMBER - is not a typo. Wanted to keep things fresh and obviously be the 1st. Also hopefully avoids double booking so we can eat more Christmas Dinners in the season and no need to eat two Christmas Dinners on the same day! 24. Cool! That was on a good drive, along the coast road through Burton Bradstock and Abbotsbury. There is a lay-by where you could overlook Chesil beach and Portland, lovely stuff. You can just see Little Lorna in the passenger seat 😊

  25. It’s actually painted. The thin black stripes are stuck on, some bits need replacing but I’ve sorted them for now with black insulating tape which looks fine. Need to source the correct stuff sometime, I have the contact of the guy who did the full paint job so will check with him when I need it.

  28. The lift isn't that long. When the car is square over the top, the wheels are on the ground. The lift then lifts a conventional car under the sills on the jacking points. The westfield is too narrow at the front to put the blocks on the lift platform. It's a great piece of kit

  30. Finished the main job at about 12, all panels fixed in place. Had to cut four panels down for the last part so it worked well at the end wall, looks good. Just the finishing fascia boards and guttering to do now 👍 Apologies to anyone with OCD for the uneven window spacing, it was just how it fell in terms of the internal wall and the width of the panels. We tried to keep them over each garage, works ok from inside.

  32. Good progress today. We got a bit delayed by confusion over whether the boards were ‘handed’ or not. At one stage, to be more efficient, we decided to cut the corners off three boards at once and just turn one of them round. Big mistake! It turns out that they do need to be run in the same direction otherwise the corrugations (is that a word?) don’t quite match up. This cost us a fair bit of time phaffing around trying to work out what was going wrong and having to turn heavy boards around whilst up on the roof. Anyway, I reckon we are 80% done now. Just one run with a clear panel in it, and then two solid runs to finish. We will need to cut the last two runs down to fit the width but have a good angle grinder so that shouldn’t take long and at least they will be lighter to lift up. It is heavy going in this heat with no shade up there to speak of. We are trying to do things diligently, putting mastic across the joints and ensuring the clear panels are fixed correctly. Hopefully it won’t leak! Pleased with how it looks though and we should be all done tomorrow including sorting the edge boards and guttering. Winston is keen to be back in his new home! Might have to be temporary for a while until the walls and floor are done. First clear panel done Much better lighting with the two panels Let me in already! Done for the day

  36. Mrs Stu and I helped with organising my Dad’s 90th Birthday party yesterday. My main contribution was erecting a canopy over the garden stretched between the house, and his old windsurfing mast which served as a flagpole. He did his national service in the Navy and has a lifelong love of the sea so we did a naval theme. I had to climb out of the bedroom window to drill bolts into the outside wall which was actually a lot less scary than I thought it would be. Most traumatic part of the day was definitely half an hour before the party was due to start, when I was trying to tension the canopy a little more and accidentally disconnected the main supporting wire instead! 🤣🤣 I was calling for help from the top of the ladder whilst desperately hanging onto it so it didn’t trash all the flowers underneath. Mrs Stu came to the rescue and I got it sorted with about ten minutes to spare 🤣. Party went well, happy Dad 👍
