Hi all. Mrs Joolz is not short of bravery which is good, but is also the reason she often goes into corners way too fast. On her last track day at Doni she ended up in the gravel because she doesn't know what to do when it starts to slide / things start to go a bit Pete Tong. I would love to buy her a car control course .. many tracks have such events .. but they are (somewhat bizarrely I think) geared towards the everyday driver who wants to learn what to do under roads conditions. This isn't really what we are after. Does anyone know of a car control course which is aimed at a novice track day driver who wants to 1) learn firstly how to treat the car in a manner which will extract the best grip and 2) learn how to correct a slide to bring it back under control and then possibly 3) go on to learn how to hold a slide and keep it going ... maybe we could look at a group booking if enough interested parties .. novices only. any help appreciated, many thanks.3 points

I've been looking at doing a day with https://drivelimits.com. However, this year hasn't quite gone to plan so I've not been able to book anything.2 points

Someone like this can provide just what you need- https://www.donpalmer.co.uk/car-control I did his 'wetter the better' course at MIRA a long time ago in an Impreza. Though MIRA no longer let the public in any more.2 points

Morning all, I’m a new member and only joined on Thursday. After dreaming of owning a “7” for nearly 20 years the wife has paid a deposit at Toybox for my upcoming 50th ! On a beautiful looking Westfield!! We are due back down to pay the balance next week. however I would like some advice on insurance as I am a little concerned, I have tried a plan insurance thatcham after reading the forum but they refused to insure me based on having no previous experience with this type of car, obviously everyone was in the same boat at some point !1 point

It's just won the Best pub in Northumberland competiton for a 2nd year. Great pub and the landlord loves his car meets. If passing call in for a drink / meal, well worth it. The Crown, Humshaugh1 point

Oh I am so tempted I did the last 2 times and loved it. Not easy expecially the anticlockwise but such a great track and so well organised and friendly. Its different to any other sprint you will do. It would be really nice to get a good turn out.1 point

I've just renewed my car insurance through Howden's for the second year, which included track day insurance. It does work out cheaper that way.1 point

It does, if you can find an insurer willing to offer it, but they all seem to be dropping it now.1 point

Good evening John and co, I booked my tickets a few days after reading about it in the Spring edition of Westfield World (couldn't resist the magazine 'plug'). As far as I know I'm the only one from Devon and Somerset area going and have booked accommodation (Wincham Hall Hotel - no weddings on thank goodness) about 30 minutes from the circuit. I've been wanting to go to the Gold Cup for a while - a shame the club location has been moved and yes, no longer free, but at £21 I think it still represents good value. There are a few members on this thread I recognise, so looking forward to seeing you again and meeting others I have yet to meet! Fingers crossed the weather and traffic gods are kind. I'm driving up on the Friday through South Wales, Herefordshire and Cheshire avoiding the M5/M6. It's a 6.5 hour drive for me! Safe journeys everyone and see you on Saturday morning, best wishes, Gareth HD1 point

You would think someone from WCL would be monitoring wouldn't you? I know I would if it were my company, I'd deem it essential tbh.1 point
