That's the new club flagship - paid for by the increase in subscription fees 😉 (Only kidding! Personally, I'm fortunate enough to find even the increased rate a bargain for what I get)4 points

The sun brought the cars out yesterday where we managed 14 cars in total, 12 Westfields, 1 Sylva Striker and a MX5. Breakfast was eaten outside in the sunshine. After feeding ourselves, 10 of us headed out towards Selby, we started as 10 but lost @Ross Seight somewhere on the way. The rest of us managed to stay together through some back roads to arrive at The Motorist. Big thanks to everyone who came out, including @Kenner in his Striker and @Jill sutcliffe and Darren on their first run with us. See you all at the next one.2 points

Jez, this has taken an absolute age! Can definitely confirm that the ones in the earlier link are a direct match for the factory ones. I used 4 x 20mm peel rivets, they worked fine however the factory ones must've been about 4 x 10 or 12mm. No great issue though on one side the bodywork was close to the chassis behind. I also had to touch them up with a paint pen.2 points

After getting no reply to contacting them about my gel coat tub, I just thought I’d go ahead and order. I did that Friday and just had a text to say delivery tommorw so that’s really positive to hear2 points

Hello! (It's Carlie) I don't have access to the aplan handle anymore... need to get that sorted lol! @Cookie24 can you pm me your postcode so I can take a look? Thanks Carlie2 points

Yip, they are hydraulic and heavy pieces of kit. Just makes the regular maintenance, wheels off stuff so much easier and quicker. I don't really have the ceiling height in my garage, the Westfield and Mx5 would be fine but not the other cars, so it's harder to justify. I'll just need to stick to rolling around on the ground.2 points

I do agree with you, but suspect that the ‘holiday period’ while they were not trading exposed many of their suppliers (and their pricing) to owners. Now they are back and trying to stick big margins on top I think people will just go direct wherever possible.2 points

I don’t know if Westfield cars read this Forum? It would be good to get some update from them.2 points

We have just returned from a California road trip starting in LA, to San Diego, to Palm Springs and Back to LA for the last few days. It has been an interesting trip to say the least. Flying into LA the first thing to notice was the pollution that hung in the air very visible as far as the eye can see, thick with a brown tinge. When you land you can see why, traffic everywhere even the 10 lane highway almost at standstill. We hired a car for three people and four suit cases what they gave us was a Chevy Tahoe, as you can see below it was massive with a V8 that struggled to pull the weight around and not the biggest we were offerred. Speaking with various people electric cars although more popular yet the charging infrastructure is worse than here, one guy told me that he has to get up in the middle of the night to get into the communal charging station as there are simply not enough so prising people out of gas cars is going to take year. And as their cities are designed around the car it will take more to get public transport to change to meet expectations. Our government bangs on about becoming nett zero it will never happen in the US as their energy consumption is massive. Everywhere we went Air Con on full blast all day and night, everything lit up like Blackpool and yes they have solar and wind farms but apparently they cannot keep up with the growing energy needs. I love going to the US I love their sense of patriotism but their problems with social issues is growing fast and homeless people living on side walks with no help seems so wrong with such affluence around them. What is clear is that they have such an effect on the rest of the world and the election, especially now Biden has gone, is going to be massive. The car culture is still king and the diversity is huge, from the off road type lifted trucks to the Lowriders which we saw driving in SD and everything in between, it is unlike anything else anywhere in the world and worth seeing.1 point

It comes to us all. I never knew how hard it would be though. Stay fit, stay slim, lead a healthy lifestyle and I think you can fend it off for maybe an extra 10 years but age will eventually get all of us one way or another1 point

You would think someone from WCL would be monitoring wouldn't you? I know I would if it were my company, I'd deem it essential tbh.1 point

I've (re) used the same aly Aero Race ducting now on both 50mm and 70mm core rads, and with fan/ARB combinations needing the rad/duct assembly to move forward in the nose. I found not only did the length need trimming but the angle of the top and bottom pieces too, as other wise, they no longer met the shorter sides, if that makes sense.1 point

Hi everyone, new forum lurker alert! As an opener, circumstance has led me to having a healthy and well sorted spare cross flow engine and gearbox which feels like a great excuse for another car😁. A Westfield seems an obvious choice for that but I haven’t come across any suitable donor cars or far enough finished projects yet. It would likely be for track days / grass roots motorsport type stuff but would want to drive it there etc. Any views on the best route to take or prospective cars welcome.1 point

@Cookie24 you could try Lancaster insurance to. I had to demonstrate my previous high power car driving experience to A-Plan (now Howdens) when I took out my policy last year. Good luck.1 point

I do agree. If I had thirty or forty grand to throw at a play car, I would likely choose something else. I would love to see some entry level options, with a possibility of putting a basic car on the road for £15k to £20k including donor. That might keep some of the younger generation interested and bring new owners in. Going higher and higher end just competes with other much more attractive brands I think.1 point

To be honest, I'm not sure that the economics of buying a 'new' kit car really make sense any more. It used to be a cheap way of getting into performance motoring, but that's not really true now. If I was in charge of the new Westfield, I think that I'd be putting my effort into supporting the existing cars with spares, repairs, upgrades, servicing, service kits, advice, and maybe update modules for more up to date things like modern engines, gearboxes, ECUs, LED lights, carbon parts, that sort of thing. Speak to Carlie at the Thatcham branch. She generally can sort things for pretty much anyone so mates tell me. I'm currently with AIB and have never been asked any awkward questions1 point

That’s thatcham I have had cover from Flux, AiB and A-Plan (Howdens). All were good to deal with and all did multi vehicle policies.1 point

Sorry to advise things aren't any better since Jan 2024 at WCL. I tried to order a part on Mon (plastic heel rest- mine's been cracked for years and covering it with Alloy has turned it into a branding iron for my left for on Euroblats!)- The part is £19.99 and the only postage option is UPS at circa £10 which is hefty for a small, light item. I though stuff it, we need to support the new business etc, and went to pay with the paypal option shown and it failed. I got distracted with work etc and went to try again yesterday with the same issue. I therefore called and was pleasantly suprised the phone was promptly answered (Ed, I think was his name), however he couldn't put me through to parts as they were busy packing or something like that. He offered to help and explained the postage charge includes a surcharge for picking and they only use UPS. They don't use Paypal, but haven't been able to get their Webmaster to remove the option from the system. He then advised they can't take my order over the phone due to GDPR issues with card numbers! Hence I had to order via the web shop at circa 9:40am. Ed stayed on the phone at my request as I did it and he confirmed the order. I shortly received payment confirmation by e-mail and at the end of the day UPS advised it was arriving today- This morning, I've had an e-mail update from UPS- So it's not even left WCL yet. I'm glad it's not urgent! update at 16:50, 11-7-2024- Update 09:29 12-7-2024 It look like I will actually get my item! 13:43 12/07/2024 It's arrived and it's the correct part, suitably packed etc. So not as disappointing as others have had, however communication is key and we're all after the Amazon next day delivery service. If the website and subsequent e-mails advised 1-2 days delivery it would be clearer. When you're charged £10 for UPS for a item thats a few hundred grams, you expect next day!1 point

Actually, just managed a quick 20 mins while everyone else was busy. I don’t think Mrs Stu even noticed I was gone! 🤣0 points

I'm sorry to say that I've been having the same issues with them too, though as being new here I wasn't keen on voicing my frustration publicly, but maybe that's the best thing. I had to cancel an order last month for a set of clear lenses and 2 stickers. I was paying well over the odds, but thought I was doing the right thing by supporting them as I wish them every success and want them to succeed. I waited a full month, without success and eventually had to sadly cancel the order. I got my bits elsewhere for the price of the Westfield postage. I've now ordered side screens from them and hopefully things will be better, however yesterday an incomplete set of fittings arrived out of the blue for them, which has prompted another phone call to them, with no resolution just a promise to call me back... I understand that they are busy and appear to be under staffed, I just hope things get better soon. It's not great that I'm now looking elsewhere for items that I would happily buy from them if the support was there, again I want to be part of a successful Westfield family.0 points
