@Steve Bosworth what a stunning car you have bought there from @tuonokid58 we will look forward to seeing it out and about for some years to come. Here it is in all its glory. Fresh from the Alps trip was Ian in Bagpuss with stickers showing all the alpine passes he drove and tales of the trip for us. Fresh from the chrome platers was Andrew with his V8 and the air filter 8 cars in total meeting at Quackers A lengthy catch up over breakfast at Quackers, it seems ages since we all met We had a steady run up to the Ladybower Dams with lovely views over the hills, all looking very green I might add. We arrived at Bird Cafe, Hathersage, rearranged the furniture and had lunch There was talk of ice cream so we made our way over to the Pavillion Cafe, parked away from the cricket match and enjoyed our ice creams and cakes on the pavillion, yum yum. Parked at the Pavillion, Baslow More of the hairy legs on show than normal, someone had ripped his shorts alighting from his car, oops It's been a fabulouso day again, great to see everyone and be back out in the Peak District with those wonderful views, albeit not on the most exciting of routes but I will have more time to plan next time and normal service will resume. It is the car meet at GBS, Ollerton next Friday evening so if the weather is good we hope to see you there, thanks for coming everyone xxxx8 points

Thanks again to Julie for organizing a lovely run out, sorry we couldn't stay for cake but standby started at 3pm 😔 The rain started on the way home but thankfully it was only a drizzle, and i didn't want to get my car dirty and wet, took me ages bringing the bodywork back to something like after its years of storage. 😁 For our first run out in it, i'm very pleased performed great.. Here's to the next run!4 points

Chin straps! I use these. You get two sets. I can personally guarantee if attached correctly they are safe into 3 figure mph speeds 😂 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332594937195?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=kcLl8Z8RSAe&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QRblEOOHQaG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY When not strapped under the chin they lay nicely across the peak where it joins the main part of the cap. I tried for years to get my McLaren F1 cap to stay on, no hope. Lost it and recovered it at least 6 times (can you tell? 😁) before finally tethering it. Tried all sorts of caps and hats with peaks (has to have one or the sun blinds me), elastic bands, ear defenders (which just blew off as well) none of which really worked when the speed got high. Then I remembered I had a brand new Vodafone cap still in it's bag. I had stupidity assumed it would be the same as the McLaren one, wrong! I found that even a small variation in the type of cap can make all the difference. It fits better and stays on because the rear strap sits just below the lump on the back of your skull whereas the other cap sat on or just above it and that made all the difference! With any peaked cap if you have an aeroscreen like I do and look up at the sky doing 60+mph you are asking for trouble, unless you are very short! I still use the chin straps though as then I KNOW 100% it won't fly off. I also have it tethered just in case.3 points

I started my Westfield journey 20 years ago next week paying the deposit on my starter kit, joined the club and had no idea how valuable it would be. After many upgrades and hours of fun I sold my car today, mixed emotions but glad it has gone to a new owner who will no doubt enjoy it. Just wanted to say a big thank you for all of the support the club has given me! Steve2 points

Hi Mat, I will send you a message during next week about becoming an AO, I do apologise for not replying to your email last week but I have only just landed back from my holiday. I am slowly catching up with everything so please bear with me. Thank you for your interest and thank you for your patience. Julie2 points

How would I go about setting up a South Wales local group? I was AO for the area about 10 years ago before I sold my first car, and now I’m back in ownership would be good to get a local area running (I think there are a few South Wales owners). Plus we are not far from Bristol and Bath our Hertfordshire So joint events in the summer could be an option.. Happy to be the AO to get it going - but what’s the process for getting started?1 point

There is a south wales Facebook page, but no one has posted in there for years. Ince the new baffle haus is open I’m sure that could be a good venue for a regular meet as well.1 point

Same thing happened to me in my Tiger yonks ago, luckily I broke down not far from a Halfords so used a bike brake cable. After that I always carried a spare cable in that car. I should do the same in the Flying Carrot really but had forgotten all about it until I read your post, so ta for the reminder 👍1 point

Being a baldi I like to wear a baseball cap in my westy, it helps keep the sun off my head and acts as a good sun visor, but I can't find one that'll stay on my head (even with a windscreen) without doing it up so tight my eyes are popping out of their sockets! What's your go to hat that stays on your head in the summer months? Trying to avoid having to wear a helmet but I am considering some ear defenders, the type that have a band over your head which would hopefully help keep my hat on!1 point

Mine is eBay's finest, but I quite like the hexagonal pattern too, but didn't fancy painting it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133406179602?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=MbXDzemyQW2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=JKhr01ZFSMW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY1 point

https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/extra-small-indoor-car-cover-34m In case anyone is looking for one. It's just thin material, but good enough to keep the dust off during the winter. Nice snug fit, so I don't see it getting blown about if the doors are open. Trial fit whilst I'm away from some much needed1 point

Side wind deflectors from Westfield £160 or some 5mm polycarbonate sheet from work - free to a good home. Stainless liftoff hinges left & right hand - Amazon £12. I knocked out the hinge pin, machined them to size to suit the windscreen then drilled & fitted a 3mm grub screw to secure. Tried and tested today, much satisfaction in the process of making and the end result1 point

Good advice above from @Quinten there's nothing standard on a Westfield and there's a good chance the holes in your bonnet may be different sizes to his, so check before posting the molds away.1 point
