  1. BY POPULAR REQUEST! I suppose it's a waste of time asking you guys not to laugh? 😂 WARNING, CONTAINS BAD LANGUAGE! I have to confess, the only reason I managed that is because I'm off my t**s on painkillers for my knackered knee! Definitely easier for me getting in through the side. Couldn't post video here so had to load to YouTube

  2. I have my half doors secured with a single pin at the front top corner, meaning they can pivot upwards. I hook them to the cage with a bungee and can then slot myself in behind.

  3. Wired up the DRL's. Used the same controller as I've used on a few Mx5 installs and it's never let me down, though required a couple of resistors to work properly. It was fine with a incandescent bulb, but wouldn't recognise the leds. Hardest part was threading the cable up through the sleeve to the headlamps, but I was determined to do it.

  4. Blimey, I'm gonna have to try this top entry system now! If I get stuck I'll blame you lot 😂

  5. I hope you've got plenty of head-room, or you'll have a very sore bonce!

  6. I think I did some of the time. JKs so was no biggie. But if you did the athletic Olympic parallel bars manoeuvre then you could swing in with aplomb. (Never looked that graceful when I tried the aplomb bit - more like ow-me-plums)

  7. On my old sprint car, which had a full cage but no half doors, I usually climbed in and out over the top. Much the easiest. The cage had a side impact protection member (like in Kingster's picture above) which I stood on with my right leg, then over the top with my left leg, sit on the back of the cage to pull my right leg in, and then slid down into the seat. Getting out was the reverse process. Dead easy. Oh, and I was in my late 60's when I stopped sprinting and sold the car, and I wasn't very fit.

  8. Visited ProDev Engineering, Carmarthen to see the ex-OMEX Richard Wragg to see the finishing touches to my engine build and bring it home for installation. I can wholeheartedly recommend Richard as an engine builder who can build to his spec or adapt to a one off. As a note he supplies both Burton Power and MST with their Zetec and Duratec engines! From a 68K ex mondeo 2.0 Zetec oily lump to a rebuilt forged 8000 rpm 230 bhp zinger... just waiting on BGH uprated gearbox and its all systems go for install!

  11. Funny 🤣 BUT…. The challenge was to get it with half doors in place so you cheated getting out 🤣

  12. Yeah I intend to put something behind the bonnet ones, washers or a little bracket, but on mine at least there's no access to them from the footwell.

  13. No need for peel type rivet, just use a suitable washer on the inside.

  15. Oh wow I'm just catching up with this thread. Same here @Flying Carrot Steve I didn't even know going in from the top was a thing! Going to try it later in the comfort of my own private garage with no-one looking. If you never hear from me again, it didn't work 😂

  17. Ah, no I had a JK Composites glass fibre seat. Whether or not I actually stood on the seat I honestly can't remember. But I think that I tried to avoid it, by putting my heels on the chassis cross-member just in front of the seat. It is quite a while ago. Just checked, and my final season in the Speed Series was 2015, so I sold the car in the autumn of that year, almost 9 years ago.

  18. Arrived this morning and are identical. Not fitted yet, I'm still waiting on the peel rivets arriving. I've been having a terrible with deliveries from Ebay etc and even cancelled a few, however the catches are from a 'real company' and were delivered next day.

  19. Can someone tell me why there is no option to 'like' posts from Sparkymart in this thread please?

  20. Why do I have images of Santa stuck in the top of a chimney in my head? Tbh it had never even entered my mind to try and get in via the top. It just looks a bit small to me. I find it fairly easy to get in via the side, I would have thought it even more easy for small or slim people. I am definitely going to have to try top entry now I've been told it seems to be the way most people do actually do it, so I stand corrected! Every day is a school day in Westfield World!

  31. I’ve totally loved building my FW zetec and driving around the roads of Kent. I now am keen to explore the potential of it and myself by entering some of the events. Quite simply I don’t know how to start so any help would be greatly appreciated.
