Hi all I wanted to introduce an old familiar face some of you knew. As some will know I made the decision to sell my Yellow zetec in the hope of something quicker and more fitting to my ideal Westfield. This all started on the long way north starting line, Julie and Glenn approached me with a car they knew for sale, Over the weekend they spoke more about it and the idea grew. The following week my old car was collected by its new owner, and I rang Julies contact, Barry Wilson. Now the car in question was built by the late Steve Pitt (Bugman), a 2018 Sport 250. Barry had bought it following Steve’s sad passing, and then sat on it for the past few years. I read Steve’s amazing build diary and soon realised what an intricate person he was, everything was done to perfection. Admittedly there were a few electrical choices that weren't great but Barry has been slowly going through the car removing them. After a few visits to see the car and work out what needed doing to bring it back to its former glory, a deal was made and huge thanks to Barry who got it running for me. I had it collected and delivered this week and started straight away preparing it for its first MOT in years. The headlights weren’t working neither were the indicators, this was down to some wiring add ons Steve did years back. I checked the manual and sorted both issues, bolt checked and then booked an MOT. Drove to MOT station and had a few misfires on the way, also lost boost (turns out the pipe wasn’t tight enough) MOT passed with no issues so I headed for home… that’s where the misfire started again, this time however it got worse to where it sounds like an old Impreza. Managed to limp home, and started testing and checking plugs/coils. 1 plug seemed to be an issue so I ordered a set and collected today, popped them in along with some injector cleaner and hit the key Hey presto she’s alive and sounding great. A few jobs later, mainly checking brakes and suspension, a little clean and it was time for its first drive! Sooo nervous but very excited too. It went perfectly, there is little too much pre load on the rear suspension as it seems to bang the spring down over bumps but I’ll see if I can wind it back a bit. but overall really pleased, it has the power and looks I’ve wanted and has the potential for my own touches along the way. So I’d like to say a huge thanks to Julie and Glen for putting me in touch with Barry. And thanks to the rabble of mates who have helped over the last few days via messages. Ben/Rob/Gavin and Tim. i look forward to lots of adventures with it!8 points

It’s a factory built zetec. Originally 1800, but now with a new crate 2l and rebuilt mt75. Running on MBE and TBs and mapped at 184bhp 13”tds with 888s, Westfield big brake set up, Caterham race seats, procomp suspension (need to work out what it is) Plan is to make it an aero screen car, tidy it up a bit and add lots of carbon!! Oh, and a decent CAT exhaust because I don’t want to keep swapping for the mot…2 points

Good to hear Steve’s car has a new home. Communicated with him often during his build. Enjoy the “250 experience”!2 points

Fantastic news mate, it's a stunning and well known car. Excited to see it in real life, although I think I've seen every square inch via text already 😂😂😂2 points

Glad to see the car has gone to a good home. I knew Steve and the car well, we followed the build up here in Yorkshire and had some good runs with him. We did leave Steve one time when his steering wheel came apart in his hands. Luckily he was maneuvering in a car park at low speeds. It turned out that the red car at the back of the convoy was a Corsa, not a Westfield. And I must admit, I was tempted too. @tuonokid582 points

Weather looks OK until about 11am. Tbh it's just as bad here near Bristol tomorrow until late afternoon when it's set to pick up. I can't believe it's July, it's so flipping rubbish lately. Last time I drove the Carrot was to the MOT and back, a grand total of 2½ miles 😤1 point

Thanks Alan, I’ve been reading your build too and pretty much everyone else’s. Great to get ideas and help from others with the same car.1 point

@Flying Carrot Steve i think it depends on girth, the rounder you are the more space between buckle and siides for achieving adjustment... being somewhat skinny, i found i had to undo the belt to adjust the lap strap. With the old belts I was sitting on the adjuster so no hope of alteration unless you got out..1 point

My sticker has been on my roll bar since joining last year. Sure others will tell you they’ve had theirs a lot longer than that!1 point

A friend of mine has bought and built one, and made several minor improvements while doing so. It’s now for sale (though not advertised anywhere) as for him the pleasure is in the build and development process. He’ll be selling it at a fair bit less than the built price from the factory. As a guide, I think he wants about £45k for it (approx).1 point

Renewed this morning, again with @Howden Insurance - Specialist Vehicle. Spoke to Hawk, very good service and the premium has come down from last year. Only £3, but it's going in the right direction.1 point

If anyone else is looking to swap their silver catches to black ones I've found this. https://protex.com/29-619MSBL-non-adjustable-toggle-latch-light-duty-mild-steel-black1 point

It has a metal sleeve that screws onto the shaft which the knob then slides over and is fixed in place with an allen bolt from the top. The inside of the knob is smooth. It had been removed from my type 9.1 point

Hi everyone, Just joined the club after buying my first Westfield at the start of June. I only had it a day before heading off to the Alps on a road trip, I'm now home and still getting to grips with it. I purchased it from Big d through his advert here and although there was a great distance involved he was a gent and the process was painless. Its strictly not my first Westfield tbh, I did have an SE kit back in the 90's, however with an impending wedding, honeymoon and new house etc it was an expense too far and I sold it unfinished. Had my first run in it on Sunday down to the Jim Clark museum in Duns, which I thought was quite fitting and not too far for the first one. I plan on putting plenty of miles on it, that's what it's for after all and I'm blessed with some great roads up here. Hopefully I'll get to meet some other owners and club members on my travels, weather permitting! Cheers Craig1 point
