We have been fortunate to have the Westfield Speed Series visit our area four times in recent months, with rounds at Mallory (March and June) and Curborough (double header last weekend). Just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the competitors and WSCC members we have met for being so friendly and helpful (answering our daft questions! 😂) to those of us that keep to the roads and/or dabble with a track day or two. At some point, @HB46443 and I (with the help of some experts!) will try and do a little video on what you need (kit, small modifications etc) and how easy it is to enter your road going Westfield into a Sprint or Hillclimb. It's a great alternative to track days, all same circuits but with nothing else on track with you to inadvertently spoil your day! I would really encourage you to go along and watch an event near you if you can. Seeing versions of your own car competing on equal terms with single seaters, modifieds, classics, hot hatches and modern sports cars is great fun. The friendly paddocks are a delight, being able to freely chat to the drivers and get up close to the cars is getting more unusual these days (try to do that at the BTCC or F1!). Here is a copy of the calendar, hopefully you'll find a round near you! I've scoured YouTube for some videos for your viewing pleasure! Highlights from June with a few minor "offs" and lock ups Highlights from March. Some in car footage from a 350Z at the Mallory round in June. Caterham in car footage from the event in March. Again from the March round.... really shows the incredible speed of the single seaters! Fisher Fury (a clothed "seven") at the same event5 points

Hi All, i have recently purchased my first Westfield after previously owning a Robin Hood. I believe it’s a pre lit, it has a few teething problems but hopefully won’t take much to get sorted. Are there any known issues with the pre lits? And does anyone recognise the car as it has some WSCC paperwork.3 points

It’s our monthly meet this Thursday, 7.30pm at the Golden Pheasant, Plumley. (I’ve checked out a couple of the Swettenham Classics meets, on Tuesdays, and they’ve been much smaller scale affairs so far, not always with that much there, this year. So we’ll stick to our regular Thursday meets, however if anyone wants to visit the classic meet, too, I’ll arrange it as an extra run out.)1 point

With retirement and a change in priorities (currently converting a Mercedes Sprinter into a camper) so time has come to sell my beloved Westfield. Built by myself (qualified engineer), first registered on age related plates in 2006 with the ultimate plate F1WSC currently assigned meaning no need to be concerned about emissions come MOT time. I kept the specification pretty much as first built until lockdown happened and in need of a new challenge and project I decided to focus on the Westfield and carry out a major transformation as detailed below which cost almost £7k nett after selling removed parts. Focus was on transforming the handling by fitting Siltech Racing suspension all round after meeting with Dennis and Andy and seeing the brilliant parts they have designed and manufactured, simply the best out there. Specifcation: 2.0 Zetec on 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, Emerald M3DK ECU and custom mapped by Dave Walker at Emerald achieving 165hp Engine is correctly registered with DVLA as NON cat with the obvious benefits this brings Dunnel Racing reduced height baffled sump MT75 box Reconditioned 3.61 LSD Siltech superwide front suspension using aircraft specification T45 steel Siltech billet aluminium front hubs Siltech drilled front discs Siltech branded 4 pot Willwood callipers Black Hawk ceramic front pads Siltech front ARB Siltech micro adjustable rear suspension Protech shocks Rear uprights replaced with new Westfield parts including bearings VW Golf rear callipers, new discs and Brembo pads New driveshafts and CV joints (4) New quick rack with Superpro silicon mounts Full suspension set up including corner weighting by Northampton Motorsport Compomotive CXR 7J ET30 graphite grey Toyo R888R 205/60/13 Factory spec ZK bodywork V8 bonnet with black powder coated grills Carbon NV aero+ cycle wings Carbon NV rear arch protectors Standard width rear arches treated with Wunderseal. With the Siltech superwide front suspension and micro adjustable rear, track difference front to rear is just some 20mm Factory supplied powder coated chassis RAC roll bar Custom made leatherette saddle stiched tunnel cover and matching gear lever and handbrake boots Westfield sports seats on adjustable runners TRS 4 point harnesses OMP Trecento steering wheel Half doors USB LED lights all round including replacement CBS headlights all correctly E marked Self cancelling indicators Glencoe E100 compatible fuel pipe throughout Autocom intercom Fuel tank impact protection bar All receipts from new plus build manuals etc.. etc…… Car has been serviced annually regardless of mileage and kept in an Air Chamber. Sod's Law, Gurston is nearest to me at about 54 miles, the rest are all 2 or 3x that and the Gurston ones are all finished. Very interested in finding out how to do these things though so look forward to any info you guys put together 👍👍1 point

Not to worry, Bill, see you next time. This will possibly be a quieter meet anyway, as some of the guys, Ian and Si will still be in the Alps!1 point

Welcome! What a pretty looking car. There are no particular generic “pre-lit faults”, Depending on the spec, there are one or two issues that can come up, but most are really minor. Crossflows, for instance can be a bit of a devil to get the exhaust manifold to seal, and stay sealed to the head, for instance, but that’s an engine/manifold specific thing, that can hit any age of car. In that instance, Burtons do some gaskets that appear best of the bunch. Really though, I’d just treat as any classic car. Depending what you know of it’s history, consider working through to change the “rubber” type parts; hoses, (fuel water and brake), bushes etc, if they’ve not been done in years, as they do dry out and fail eventually. If it’s on twin carbs, Webber’s or Delortos etc, they may need a rebuild if never done, and so on. Just take your time, work through and enjoy the car.1 point

Thanks to Sean for delivering the Devon and Somerset Area flag to me recently, good to finally have it available for events. It only had a spike with it and a rather large base which you fill with water, so I thought I would make something more compact from bits and bobs I had around the garage, but mainly some aluminium tube from a broken camping chair, some threaded rod and a couple of blocks of wood. (EDIT aswell as the bit from the spike that the flag mounts on). After a couple of false starts, this one works well, just needs a sand down and a coat or two of paint.1 point

Commited heresy... finished instalation of Electric Power Steering in mine Track Aerorace Westfield. I know, I know... but, track I am time to time drivig has karting, veeery twisty (slow angled corners) part , mine wrists are not quite healthly (chronic so would be only worse) , and with hot sticky sliscks I use its hard. Also car has a short (2,2 or 2,4 rack, and short steering arms, that not helping in lighweight operation too) So i fight with car in this section rather than to be precise on perfect driving line . So far just tried this EPS on normal road around home , and.... looks to work really well ! Starting froms downsides - quite a lot of work - additional 8 kg located high and on weighted drivers side (maybe more than 8 kg due to size of bearing I have used but wanted to do it once for ever . And weight of brackets I have welded in chassis . Advantages : - normal drive - like normal car, so light as this is a light car so now it feeling suits it (on slow drive, not only on speeds as before) - what I hope for - more precise less exhausting and less hand-painfull drive on twist parts (and all parking / pitstop / trailer etc operations ) - now I can easily operate smaller 280mm steering wheel (so far had 300mm and it is just-just regarding space with with legs, bigger wheel for less effort was not possible to install. Will see how it works on speed. Even can easily sit in and get out of cockpit with wheel still on column! (this might be partly due to smaller wheel but also highier positioned - more upward angled column. So its based on Opel Agilla used unit (aprox 40GBP ) + controller from servtronic.com (aperox 30GBP) + fuse box , some wiring and lot of scratching my head and internet reading (did not find on this forum similar topic?) Some welding did myself, some I commisioned to experienced welder (this part on column itself). Managed to use original Westfield mouting points, so if want to go back to mechanical column its easy - just unbolt electric, disconnect some plugs, and fit old upper part of column (lower part is still original Westfield one) . Oh, had to change rev-meter to smaller one, before had original Westfield one just above column, was already tight there, bu tnow wit highier posiotion and huge bearing had to go for smaller or relocate, easier was (had a cheap one in local shop )go for smaller. Oh, and in the electronic kit there is a potentiometer to off EPS or change the amount of force. Not sure if it works, maybe on highier speeds, feel like there is some change but not huge. On max setting it not to much anyway. All even fitted under the scuttle, only had to enlarge a little cutout for colum (and had to modify footwell cover) . So few pictures, as those are more than words:1 point
